Trend Update: Pestilence, Zika Virus, July 2016

Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades following him. And authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

The context of Revelation 6:8 is fourth horse of the Apocalypse. The antichrist is on the first white horse. As of the summer of 2016, we have not seen the antichrist in action, let alone formally presented. The planet is gearing up for war. Nobody is brokering peace. We are not in the Tribulation.

The scale of destruction and death of the fourth horse is ¼ of the earth. This would mean roughly 2 billion (2,000,000,000) people impacted. War and famine are accompanying disease. Animals are turning to humans for food. As of the summer of 2016, this is not occurring. We are not in the Tribulation.

The World Health Organization declared Zika Virus a health emergency in February 2016.

Brazil appears to be the country with the most cases.

In a USA Today article, it was estimated 10,000 pregnancies could be affected by Zika by the end of the year in Puerto Rico.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates 1,658 cases in the U.S. mainland.

It is late July 2016 and the Zika Virus is now in Miami, Florida. Four cases of Zika were transmitted by mosquito. The virus has been reported to be transferred by travel to affected areas and sexual contact with an infected person.

Blood donations in Miami have been stopped for now.

Severe brain birth defects have been reported with newborns of women infected by the virus. Babies are being born with small heads (microencephaly).

There appears to be a link between Zika and Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The immune system attacks nerves and results in temporary paralysis.

All that said, don’t worry. The CDC “does not expect widespread transmission in the continental US.”

When the four horsemen do arrive, it will only the beginning. One will not have to ask the question, “Are we in the Tribulation?”
