Revelation 2:28-29 and I will give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Before we get started on the issue of the morning star. Last things first, attention church members…LISTEN!!!

I will give him the morning star. A gift from Jesus, the morning star. The Greek grammar indicates the gift is a promise in the future. Jesus is promising at some point to give believers a gift of the morning star.

This is not just a star. It is “the” star. There is a Greek definite article in front of “morning” and “star”. The text literally reads… “the star the morning” in the original Greek. The koine Greek of the New Testament has no indefinite article like we do in English. There are no “a” or “an” in the language. A definite article, it’s kind of a big deal.

Venus was one of the heavenly bodies involved in what many think was a reenactment of the Star of Bethlehem on June 30, 2015. Venus joined Jupiter in conjunction along with Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation of Leo. All heavenly bodies involved in the Star of Bethlehem remake have one thing in common. They are references to Jesus Christ.

Venus is known as the bright morning star in ancient cultures. It is seen before the sun sets in the evening. And Venus rises before the sun in the morning. Who is known as the bright morning star? Jesus Himself answers the question.

Revelation 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

Jesus is promising the believer to give the gift of Himself…if anyone is listening.
