Trend Update: Russia Expands Naval Base in Tartus, Syria, December 2017

December 13, 2017: Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a bill to the Duma. This is the lower house of the Russian Parliament. Putin has reached an agreement with Syria on the Naval Base in Tartus.

Below are excerpts from Putin’s document.

“The duration of the agreement is 49 years, it can be automatically prolonged for a period of 25 years in case none of the parties send a written notification to the other at least one year before a period expires concerning its intention to terminate the agreement…”

“The naval base has full immunity from Syria’s civil and administrative jurisdiction. Its movable and immovable property is immune from search, seizure and other proceedings…”

“Russia has the right to send the necessary number of troops to maintain the naval facility…”

Russia will not be charged rent for the naval base. Reports indicate the base could house 11 ships and nuclear vessels. Residential and office buildings will be part of the development.

The base is for defensive purposes only as indicated in a joint statement by Russia and Syria. Specific nations are not being targeted.

Prior to this bill, President Putin ordered the withdrawal of “significant” Russian troops from Syria. He proclaimed victory over “the most battle-hardened grouping of international terrorists”.

If history is any indicator, Russia withdraws only to come back again in greater number. The prophet Ezekiel tells us how this ends. Russia will come in tremendous numbers with other countries. It will look overwhelming for the nation Israel. And then God decides to flex His muscle. The Lord will protect His chosen people.

The Holy Spirit, A Person…Featuring Matt Weinreich

When Jesus allowed His living blood to spill into this world before His death, He opened a pathway for us to connect with the Holy Spirit (John 16:7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you.).  As a redeemed believer, we have the Holy Spirit in us (Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in Him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit…).

Character of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a person. The pronoun “he” is always used in reference to the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not a “force”.  He was involved with creation (Genesis 1:2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.), disciplines (John 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment…), teaches (John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.), leads, carries (Galatians 5:16 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.), offers freedom (Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.), comforts (John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever…), and grieves (Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.).

However, continuous sinful choices will grieve the Holy Spirit and quench His fire within us (1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit.). I felt a burden to write this out of my own personal experiences on this subject. I have found my thoughts to be the greatest challenge (2 Corinthians 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…).

I see and feel a measurable difference when the commandments of Christ are applied in my daily life (John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.).

Constant prayer is required (1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.).

Work with Him and He will work with you…

Hanukkah and the Prophet Haggai

Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that starts in the ninth month of the Hebrew year, the 25th day. The ninth month is Kislev.  The holiday lasts 8 days.

In 2017, the holiday will start at sunset on December 12 and runs through December 20 as followed on a Gregorian calendar.

Hanukkah in the Hebrew means “dedication”. The holiday celebrates the re dedication of the Jewish Temple. The holiday began in roughly the 2nd century before the birth of Jesus Christ. The Maccabean Revolt was led by Judas in 167-160 BC. The revolt kicked Antiochus out of Jerusalem. The Jews recaptured the Temple.

The Jews only had enough oil for one day to relight the menorah. But the oil managed to burn for eight days in the Temple. In memory, Hanukkah is known as the Festival of Lights.

Hanukkah is not a God appointed feast holiday. It is not part of the Mosaic Law.

 

Jesus celebrated Hanukkah. The Gospel of John indicates his participation.

John 10:22-23 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the colonnade of Solomon.

The event is the Feast of Dedication. And that is exactly what Hanukkah means in the Hebrew language. The city was Jerusalem. The time of the year was winter. The location is the temple, specifically the colonnade of Solomon. Jesus was there walking around the temple.

 

At this time, let’s introduce the prophet Haggai. The prophet pinpoints a specific time in history. Haggai 1:1 In the second year of Darius the king… The second year of the reign of Darius is 520 BC. Darius was the king of Persia. 520 BC is the year of the writings of Haggai. (Nelson Complete Book of Bible Maps & Charts)

 

Haggai’s writings pre date the festival of Hanukkah by roughly 350 years. Haggai’s writing begin on Elul 1. This is the beginning of the season of Teshuvah or repentance. He begins with a call to repent.

Haggai 1:1b …on the first day of the month…

Of interest is the date referenced three times by Haggai, the twenty fourth day of Kislev. This is the day before the beginning of Hanukkah. Is Haggai alluding to the Festival of Lights?

Haggai 2:10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet…

Haggai 2:18 Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid, consider:

Haggai 2:20 Then the word of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying…

Israel is declared a sinful unclean nation by the Lord God.

Haggai 2:14 Then Haggai answered and said, “So is it with this people, and with this nation before me, declares the LORD, and so with every work of their hands. And what they offer there is unclean.

Despite their sin, despite Israel’s rejection of God, despite receiving God’s judgment…God keeps His promises and Israel is His possession.

Haggai 2:19b “…But from this day on I will bless you.” -LORD

 

The last time this date, twenty fourth day of the month, is mentioned by Haggai, it comes with a prophetic promise to us in the 21st century.

Haggai 2:21-22 “Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I am about to shake the heavens and the earth, and to overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I am about to destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations, and overthrow the chariots and their riders. And the horses and their riders shall go down, everyone by the sword of his brother.”

Trend Update: Emergency UN Meeting Over Jerusalem, December 2017

The United Nations (UN) held an emergency meeting over President Trump and his declaration of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The UN has informed President Trump’s announcement has ruined the chance for peace in the Middle East.

“The United Nations has repeatedly declared that any unilateral decision that seeks to alter the character and status of Jerusalem or that may alter these long-standing principles could seriously undermine current peace efforts and may have repercussions across the region.” Nickolay Mladenov, UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process.

“The status of Jerusalem cannot be unilaterally altered or determined by any state and this decision by the US should be reconsidered and rescinded. The extremely regrettable announcement … has heightened tensions and risks the complete destabilization of this volatile situation.” -Riyad Mansour, UN ambassador and permanent observer for Palestine.

Israel and the United States responded with a different tone and approach at the emergency meeting. The United States was represented by Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN. Israel was represented by their Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon.

“The United States has the courage and true understanding of justice to officially state what has always been known: that Jerusalem has and always will be the capital of Israel. The embassy of the United States belongs in Israel’s capital. We are grateful to the United States for its courageous decision. “Over many years the United Nations has outrageously been one of the world’s foremost centers of hostility towards Israel. The UN has done much more damage to the prospects of Middle East peace than to advance them. We remain committed to achieving a lasting peace agreement. We support a two-state solution if agreed to by the parties.” -Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN.

 

Jordan who manages security for the holy sites in Jerusalem has stated nothing has changed.

“The kingdom believes that any unilateral decisions to build a new situation on the ground are null and void. The protection of Jerusalem and its holy places for all religions.” -Sima Bahous, Jordan UN representative

Egypt, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Sweden, and Japan have made strong public statements condemning President Trump’s declaration. The Arab world is obviously up in arms.

The countries of the world are literally wringing their hands over Jerusalem.

The rest of the world does not see President Donald Trump to be a viable peace broker in the Middle East Peace Process. The world is scrambling for a person to take the lead on the issue. I will make the argument President Trump’s actions may be paving the way for the antichrist. Leadership will emerge. Do your own homework.

Time to Preserve your Wealth…Featuring Michael Douville

Ecclesiastes 3:12 I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live…

“Timing; it is all about Timing!” “ Know when to get off!” “There are times to be aggressive and times to be cautious!” “It is not what you make, but what you keep that Counts” “Trees do not grow to the sky!”

These adages are especially true today regarding the Historic levels of both the Stock and Bond Markets. These sayings mimic real life experience and explain that Life is a series of Cycles that ebb and flow throughout History. It is Wisdom that allows one the courage to ACT! Courage will be needed to recognize danger and courage will be needed to Preserve your Wealth for the Future!

Stock Market Cycles have characteristics of a Wave Pattern that peaks about every 7 years; examples of the latest bubbles are March 2000, then December 2007 (7.5 years), and now almost 10 years from the last Stock Market Peak; courtesy of the World’s Central Banks. The final push to the top often is exaggerated with huge gains associated with the Peaking Process.; a vertical price appreciation spike often develops near the cycle end, adding to the Mania. The Mantra of “This Time is Different” is almost universal in the topping process as no one wants to believe the “Good Times” are ending. The Federal Reserve has announced it will no longer support the markets; rather, the Fed is withdrawing liquidity at a scheduled rate of $510 Billion for 2018. The “Good Times” are over! The Central Banks of the World have also declared their intention to bring Central Bank purchases to a screeching halt from $2 Trillion to ZERO by April of 2018. Beware, the Party IS OVER!! “What goes up, must come down.”

If the Cycle has been artificially stretched by Central Bank intervention and the Banks have declared their intentions to end this intervention in BOTH the Stock and Bond Markets, it is time to “Jump Ship”. One does not need to be fully invested at all times. Numerous Private and Institutional Clients have already begun to take profits. Perhaps removing the original investment from any Risk or “Harm’s Way” would be prudent; parking the proceeds in Cash. Preserving Wealth will allow one to participate in different Investment Cycles such as the Commodity Cycle that appears to be in the bottoming process. Much of the Price Risk has been “Drained” from that Asset class as the demand for Raw Materials has “fallen off a cliff” and is beginning to show some signs of improvement. The Commodity Cycle, once it starts to rise, often completes in 7.5 years; plenty of time to season more true Wealth. Consider this, the Housing Cycle is a much longer cycle of 18.5 years that should Peak and Possibly Spike in the 2023/24 time frame. Investing in Housing now will allow participation in the Commodity Cycle as well as the Real Estate Cycle. Raw Materials are necessary for Construction, as they inflate, housing will follow; thus benefiting from two powerful trends.

Jerusalem, Capital of Israel, December 2017

December 6, 2017: President Donald Trump has authorized Congressional legislation from 1995 to proclaim Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel. He also initiated plans to move the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. President Trump has made it official.

“Jerusalem is the capital the Jewish people established in ancient times. Today Jerusalem is the seat of Israel’s government.” President Trump.

Jerusalem as the capital of Israel goes back 3,000 years to the time of King David. The city was captured from the Jebusites in 2 Samuel 5 by David.

In June of 2017, the United States Senate unanimously voted 90-0. The resolution urges the “president and all United States officials to abide by the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act.” The bill stated the following.

“Jerusalem should remain the undivided capital of Israel in which the rights of every ethnic and religious group are protected. There has been a continuous Jewish presence in Jerusalem for 3 millennia. Jerusalem is a holy city and the home for people of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths.”

 

The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 is a public law of the United States. The law was passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995. The law states the United States Embassy in Israel should be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The law states Jerusalem is to be an undivided city. Jerusalem is recognized as the capital of Israel. This law was to be enacted by May 31, 1999.

Palestinian Leader Mahmoud Abbas contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moroccan King Muhammed, Pope Francis, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Jordan’s King Abdullah to stop President Trump’s intentions.

The religion of peace has predictably responded with threats of war and violence. President Trump has been told there is no seat at the “peace table” if he moves forward as promised.

Abu Rudeinah, Palestinian adviser indicated, “…the gravity of the consequences for the peace process and security and stability in the region and world.”

“…totally destroys any chance that he can play a role as an honest broker,” Palestinian Nabil Shaath, Abbas adviser.

In honor of President Trump’s declaration, Hamas has declared 3 Days of Rage instead of the usual one day.

Jerusalem and the nation of Israel are expecting violence.

Virgo’s Spica, The Branch…Featuring Phil Kulis

The main star in Virgo the Virgin is Spica, in the Hebrew it’s Tsemech. It means “Branch”.

There are four places in the Old Testament where the word “Branch”, translated from Tsemech (Strong H6780), is identified with the Messiah.

1) As King in Jeremiah 23:5 Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

 
2) As Servant in Zechariah 3:8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who sit before you, for they are men who are a sign: behold, I will bring my servant the Branch.

 
3) As Man in Zechariah 6:12 And say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: for he shall branch out from his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD.

 
4) As God in Isaiah 4:2 In that day the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth will be the pride and the adornment of the survivors of Israel.

 

Notice these are the same aspects of Christ in the Gospels.
Matthew = Messiah as King
Mark = Messiah as Servant
Luke = Messiah as Man
John = Messiah as God

 

In Revelation the Four Living Creatures also have these same features.

Revelation 4:7 The first living creature was like a lion (king), the second living creature like a calf (servant), the third living creature had a face like a man (man), and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle (God).

The Branch is a descendant of David.

Jeremiah 33:15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

Trend Update: Israel on High Alert, December 2017

December 4, 2017: Israeli military action is heating up around Damascus, Syria. Multiple military sites have been reported to be hit by Syrian and Russian news sources.

The Syrian government claims to have shot down Israeli missiles. Explosions were indicated approximately 3 miles northwest of Damascus in Jamraya. This is considered to be the location of a top secret, scientific military installation. Chemical and biological weapon development is reported to take place at the site. Russian missile defense systems are reported as destroyed.

“Air defenses confronted an Israeli missile attack on one of our sites in the Damascus suburbs and three of the targets were downed. Syria’s air defense destroyed three of the six missiles that Israel launched at the Research Center in the suburbs of Damascus.” -Syrian Government sources.

December 1, 2017: An arms depot between Kiswah and Sahnaya were nailed by Israeli forces on Friday night. Up to 10 buildings were hit in the attack. This is suspected to be an Iranian military base.

Ezekiel 25:15-17 Thus says the Lord God, “Because the Philistines have acted in revenge and have taken vengeance with scorn of soul to destroy with everlasting enmity,” therefore thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I will stretch out My hand against the Philistines, even cut off the Cherethites and destroy the remnant of the seacoast. I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes; and they will know that I am the Lord when I lay My vengeance on them.”

Philistia or the Philistines are the people who make up what is the modern day Gaza Strip. This group is associated with Hamas and Sunni Muslims.

The back drop of all the noise is a potential announcement from President Donald Trump. Will he declare Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in accordance with United States Congressional legislation? Will President Trump move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem?

If President Trump makes either or both declarations, the religion of peace is not making peaceful promises…
