Listening gains you wisdom & trust. Listen to those with knowledge to gain wisdom. Listen to those that need understanding to gain trust. Being a good listener is better than being a fool who talks too much.

By listening more, you gain wisdom & understanding. Sometimes you listen to acquire knowledge, sometimes to put yourself in another’s shoes to understand their feelings & situation. If a person feels they are heard, they will open up to you more. That makes them feel worthy. Make others feel worthy & that they matter.

Proverbs 19:20 Listen to advise and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.

Proverbs 2:2 Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding.

Listen, have a wisdom gaining week my friends!!!

Mother’s Day, 2018

Posted in Our Daily Bread with tags , , on May 13, 2018 by paulthepoke

PaulRitaA mother’s love is something to be cherished. I have definitely been blessed with a loving mother. A mother whose heart & example I have strived to follow. I know that most of the good in me comes from her. I honestly hope each of you feel as blessed as I do. The most attractive quality of a woman is being a loving & good mother. This makes my mom a supermodel.

Proverbs 31:25-30 She is clothed with strength & dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watched over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Happy Mother’s Day weekend to my amazing mom & all my friends & family who are mothers!!!

thankful heartBe thankful every day. Show your thankfulness to others with appreciation for them. Give thanks to God every day for what He provides for you. Count your blessings instead of your wants. A thankful heart is a happy heart.

I start each day by giving thanks for what I have & thanks for moments in my life. Having a thankful heart sure makes my days a lot better. Be happy & content with what you have & where you currently are in life. It could always be worse.

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Colossians 4:2 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.

Philemon 1:4 I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers.

Have a thankful week my friends!!!

Okla WildfiresIn times like this, when our area has seen so much destruction from the wildfires, it warms my heart to see neighbors & strangers stepping up to help. Met a young couple in their 20’s yesterday from Texas, that had brought hay from Texas to donate at a drop off spot. That was very generous, but they didn’t stop with that, they had gotten a hotel room & stuck around to reload hay & deliver directly to farmers in need. God bless people like them.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Proverbs 3:27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.

Have a giving week my friends!!!

168 remembered

23 years ago, 2 days before my son Chase’s first Birthday, the unthinkable happened. 168 lives were lost, many of those being children, because someone had hate for their own country. As a new father, I couldn’t imagine innocent children dying because of a selfish coward. 168 will never be forgotten.

John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Have a peace filled week my friends!!!

We are meant to want to see others succeed & to help them do as much when needed, not to be self serving. We will all have ups & downs & a helping hand to lift us up & help push us will always be needed. Be the kind of friend that you would want in your life. By giving, you will be rewarded. Let’s help each other succeed.

In all you do, do it in kindness & love. Our communities & world need a lot more of this.

Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Philippians 2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also the interests of others.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put in your lap. For the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

Have a helping week my friends!!!

apple_booksWhen did we stop wanting the best for each other?? It saddens me to see so many bashing our teachers. You know, the ones responsible for giving our children the best education they possibly can. Those doing all the complaining are mostly those that are never involved & apparently see teachers as babysitters. Guess what? If you want to pay them what child care providers make I’m sure they’d take it. They’d be raking in about $4,500 a week at least. The thing is, they are marching at the capital for school funding & support staff raises more so than for themselves. Why wouldn’t we want them to have the best tools available to teach our children? If you were told to go build a house with only a hammer, how well will you be able to do your job? Stop the hate & let’s support one another & love each other & want the best for everyone.

1 Peter 4:8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.

Have a loving week my friends!!!
