This Is a Holy War…Thoughts from an American Soldier

The following is from an American active duty soldier serving in the Middle East.

When we deployed to Iraq, I did not realize how that part of the world is still in a Holy War mindset. In the western world, our youth only think of the next iPhone, Poke someone on Facebook, Instagram, or the next PlayStation/XBOX, etc. In the western world, we think of future technology, future colleges, the future…

But in the Middle East, their youth only think of how corrupt the white western people are. INFIDELS need to be wiped off the face of the Earth. In the Middle East they are living in the past…literally.

Front Lines and Care Packages…Most of the care packages were stripped to useless items. Military personnel in Kuwait who handle the packages would take all the good stuff when inspecting. By the time we would receive the boxes, they would be almost empty. We would get screwed over. For example, we would not have batteries for our Night Vision Goggles.

After 3 months into the war, we finally got to use a satellite phone to call home for 15 minutes. We had to use our own money. It cost me $78.89 to talk to my mom for 10 minutes.

If we captured a prisoner of war, we would have to find a way to give them 3 meals & 3 bottles of water a day. While United States soldiers would only receive 1 meal and 1 bottle of water each day. They told us to give our prisoners our sleeping cots. So they would not sleep on the floor. We slept on the ground using our rucksacks for comfort. Iraqi prisoners were just trying to kill us. They survived our battles and they would get this kind of treatment.

Muslims are in a Holy War. It is scary that westerners are clueless. Western culture has no idea they are in this war, even if they don’t want it.

I can ramble when I’m just talking to a screen. In person I don’t really say much. I’m just a regular guy who loves his God, Country, Family… And even though I am quiet, I’ll do what it takes to defend those I love.

Please pray for our military service personnel who protect us and our freedoms.
