If You Can… Thoughts from an American Soldier

If you can… save a place within your heart for the tired souls of war and conflict.

If you can… take one last backward glance at the places they can no longer go.

If you can… remember what they have taught you. Take their knowledge and wisdom with you. Their deaths were not in vain. One day we all look back and realize what they sacrificed.

If you can… take a moment to embrace in your heart all those gentle heroes that were left behind on the battlefields fighting for their country.

If you can… let them know that you have always loved them even though you may not have. Forever save a place in your hearts for them.

A young soldier once remarked, “We did not go because we are soldiers. We went because we are AMERICANS.”

IED’s… Thoughts from an American Soldier

Just thinking out loud…

The way a Soldier lives, while the rest of the world sleep soundly in their beds, in Safety. We sacrifice for their illusion of Safety.

I’m gonna answer the question I get alot.

“Were you scared in combat?”

Here’s my answer. Yes and No. Not in combat, but after the adrenaline has left the body and you’re sitting back in camp and you go over the moments of the battle, that’s when I felt fear… when you were so close to death.

I’m a Combat Engineer (SAPPER). Today, I am gonna talk about experiences with IEDs. I’m sure you’ve heard the stories of fire fights from hundreds of soldiers before me. Though I could talk about the day I got baptized into combat, my first fire fight. I’ll talk about the battles I’ve had that were silent.

Just the sound of the wind, sand, and heart beating…

Well, as a Combat Engineer I would have to investigate any kind of IED that the regular soldiers came across while on patrol. On days like this, I would tell myself, “I must be fearless.”

I would tell myself, “If today was my day to buy the farm, at least I wouldn’t feel a thing, but see a bright light.”

From the explosion… First, I’d have to get myself in that mindset. Wipe the sweat and sand from my eyes due to that Iraqi heat and winds. Then, walk toward the IED. I would confirm that the item was an IED. The other soldiers would walk away from the IED to a safe distance. Now, it was just me and my new friend, this IED.

I’d take a second. Close my eyes. Take a deep breath and focus. I would brush the dirt off the suspected IED not knowing if someone was watching me. The one who set this IED was ready to dial their cell phone and detonate the device I was inspecting.

For those few minutes, to me felt like hours. If the IED was real… which at times they were fake. But I wouldn’t know until I inspected it. I’d rarely try to disarm them like you see in the movies. In real life, what I would do is place 1.25 pounds or more of C-4 next to the suspected IED.

When I set my own explosives, I started to move away slowly. When I was about 5 feet away, I hauled ass. I was hoping the person who placed it wouldn’t set off the IED while I was close enough to get injured. When I was far away, I would blow it up!

Once all went well, I’d make a joke of it. And laugh it off with the other soldiers. But after the missions were over and everything settled, I would think of these moments. What could have happened? What would my family think if something happened?

Myth or Truth, Islam is “Peace”… Thoughts from an American Soldier

Muslims often complain of misconceptions about their religion in the West. We took a hard look. The most prevalent myths of Islam are the ones held by Muslims and Western apologists.  The only exception may be the misconception that all Muslims are alike. They are not of course. But many Muslims apparently believe this as well. This is why there are various factions insisting that they are true Muslims. Those who disagree with them are either infidels, hijackers, or hypocrites.  Don’t be fooled! Hear the myths but know the truth.

Islam Means “Peace”

The Myth: Muslim apologists sometimes claim that the root word of Islam is “al-Salaam,” which is “peace” in Arabic.

The Truth: An Arabic word has only one root.  The root word for Islam is “al-Silm,” which means “submission” or “surrender.”

There is no disagreement about this among Arabic or Islamic scholars. al-Silm (submission) does not mean the same thing as al-Salaam (peace).

Submission and peace can be very different concepts. But peace can be brought about by forcing others into submission.

As the modern-day Islamic scholar, Ibrahim Sulaiman, puts it, “Jihad is not inhumane. Despite its necessary violence and bloodshed, its ultimate desire is peace which is protected and enhanced by the rule of law.”

In truth, the Quran not only calls Muslims to submit to Allah, it also orders them to subdue people of other religions until they are in a full state of submission to Islamic rule.  This has inspired the aggressive history of Islam, its military, and demographic success in conquering other cultures.

Treatment of Women… Thoughts from an American Soldier

1 Peter 3:7-8 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.

Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

 

According to Islamic law, a husband may strike his wife for any one of the following four reasons:

– She does not attempt to make herself beautiful for him (ie. “let’s herself go”)

– She refuses to meet his sexual demands

– She leaves the house without his permission or for a legitimate reason

– She neglects her religious duties

Any of these are also sufficient grounds for divorce.

 

In the birthplace of Islam, about half of Saudi women are beaten at home.

“Hands and sticks were found to be used mostly in beating women, following by men’s head cover and to a lesser extent, sharp objects.”

I’ve seen this happen to women in Islam. It’s better to suffer at the hands of their husband than their society. It’s horrible how women are treated.

 

Muslim apologists say Muhammad ordered women not be harmed. But they are actually basing this on what he said before or during a battle. The example is in Bukhari (59:447) when Muhammad issued an order for all the men of Qurayza be killed and the women and children be taken as slaves.  (Having your husband murdered and being forced into sexual slavery apparently doesn’t qualify as “harm” under the Islamic model).

 

There are a number of cases in which Muhammad did have women killed in the most brutal fashion.  One was Asma bint Marwan, a mother or five, who wrote a poem criticizing the Medinans for accepting Muhammad after he had ordered the murder of an elderly man.  In this case, the prophet’s assassins literally pulled a nursing infant from her breast and stabbed her to death.

After taking Mecca in 630, Muhammad also ordered the murder of a slave girl who had merely made up songs mocking him.  The Hadith are rife with accounts of women planted in the ground on Muhammad’s command and pelted to death with stones for sexual immorality. The prophet of Islam actually encouraged his own men to RAPE women captured in battle.

In short… In summary, according to the Qur’an, Hadith and Islamic law, a woman may indeed have physical harm done to her if the circumstances warrant, with one such allowance being in the case of disobedience.  This certainly does not mean that all Muslim men beat their wives, only that Islam permits them to do so.

Slavery & Sex… Thoughts from an American Soldier

1 Timothy 1:10 the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine…

Slavery… Does Islam condone slavery? Does Islamic teaching allow Muslim men to keep women as sex slaves?

Islam neither ignores nor condemns slavery. In fact, a large part of the Sharia is dedicated to the practice. Muslims are encouraged to live in the way of Muhammad, who was a slave owner and trader. He captured slaves in battle. He had sex with his slaves. And he instructed his men to do the same.

The Quran actually devotes more verses to making sure that Muslim men know they can keep women as sex slaves (4 verse) than it does to telling them to pray five times a day (zero verses).

Quran 33:50 O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those (slaves) whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee.

This is one of several personal-sounding verses “from Allah” narrated by Muhammad, in this case allowing a virtually unlimited supply of sex partners. Other Muslims are restricted to four wives, but they may also have sex with any number of slaves, following the example of their prophet.

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Titus 1:6 …namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion.

Quran 23:5-6 …who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess…

This verse permits the slave-owner to have sex with his slaves. See also Quran 70:29-30. The Quran is a small book, so if Allah used valuable space to repeat the same point four times, sex slavery must be very important to him.

 

Muhammad was relatively reticent on matters of human compassion and love.

Quran 4:24 And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess.

Even sex with married slaves is permissible, a reference to war booty, of which slaves were a part.

Quran 8:69 But (now) enjoy what ye took in war, lawful and good.

The Muslim slave master may enjoy his “catch” because (according to verse 71) “Allah gave you mastery over them.”

1 Peter 4:8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

Mark 12:30-31 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” -Jesus

 

Breeding slaves based on fitness…

Quran 24:32 And marry those among you who are single and those who are fit among your male slaves and your female slaves…

 

Quran 2:178 O ye who believe! Retaliation is prescribed for you in the matter of the murdered; the freeman for the freeman, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female.

The message of this verse, which prescribes the rules of retaliation for murder, is that all humans are not created equal. The human value of a slave is less than that of a free person. And a woman’s worth is also distinguished from that of a man.

Leviticus 19:15 You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.

 

Quran 16:75 Allah sets forth the parable (of two men: one) a slave under the dominion of another; He has no power of any sort; and (the other) a man on whom we have bestowed goodly favors from ourselves, and he spends thereof (freely), privately and publicly: are the two equal? By no means; praise be to Allah.

Yet another confirmation that the slave is not equal to the master. In this case, it is plain that the slave owes his status to Allah’s will. According to Quran 16:71, the owner should be careful about insulting Allah by bestowing Allah’s gifts on slaves, those whom the god of Islam has not favored.

Romans 3:22 …the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction…

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 6:9 Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.

Apologists & Apostasy… Thoughts from an American Soldier

While the rest of the world generally believes if God wanted people dead over their religious beliefs, then He would do the job Himself. Apostasy was taken so seriously by Muslims, that it spawned the first of many serious internal wars.

Immediately after Muhammad’s death, several tribes wanted to leave Islam and return to their preferred religion. In a conflict known as the Ridda (apostasy) Wars, they were slaughtered in such places recalled as “Garden of Death” and “Gulley of Blood”. These events occurred during the first caliph Abu Bakr’s aggressive and violent campaign to force submission. Abu Bakr had to keep the tribute payments flowing back to Mecca. Within months, a great many people were dead including Muslims who had memorized the Quran by heart.

As Abu Bakr, Muhammad’s closest companion, explained in a letter at the time, his prophet “struck whoever turned his back to Him until he came to Islam, willingly or grudgingly.” Abu Bakr promised to “burn them with fire, slaughter them by any means, and take women and children captive” any who left Islam. You can find this here… (al-Tabari v10 p.55-57)

Ali, the fourth “Rightly Guided Caliph” was Muhammad’s son-in-law. Ali was one of the first converts to Islam. He also had people burned alive for wanting to follow their conscience. An old man named Rumahis b. Mansur, who regretted leaving Christianity and vowed not to remain a Muslim, was quickly beheaded by Ali. Here’s where it’s found in case anyone challenges your knowledge of the TRUTH… (al-Tabari v.17 p.191).

In 1400 years, there has never been a system of Islamic law that did not prescribe the death penalty for Muslims choosing to leave Islam. Even in modern, ostensibly secular Islamic countries with constitutions “guaranteeing” freedom of religion, there is de facto enforcement of this law with intimidation and the vigilante murder of apostates.

A sound philosophy never requires violence or threats to retain believers. Contemporary Muslim apologists sometimes find it embarrassing that their religion, and theirs alone, endorses killing someone over a mere change in opinion.

As critic Geert Wilders puts it, “Any religion that invites you in but then will not let you out is no longer a religion”.

There are various tricks played to deny or explain away this weak and draconian thought which is so well-ensconced in Islamic tradition.

 

So do NOT believe APOLOGISTS OF ISLAM: THOSE THAT TRY TO DEFEND ISLAM…

These apologists also ignore the actions of Muhammad at Mecca and those actions of his companions following his death, particularly the bloody Ridda Wars. How could those closest to him have felt that there should be “no compulsion in religion” if they were instructed to kill anyone who wanted to leave Islam?

Freedom & Apostasy…Thoughts from an American Soldier

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.

Apostasy? I’ve been asked, does Islam allow freedom of religion or does it threaten the death penalty for apostasy?  Well the truth is… they believe and practice this everyday…

From what I’ve seen in the Middle East and speaking with the locals over here, they believe that “Anyone” and mainly “Westerners” are INFIDELS in their belief. Those who turn their back on Islam are to be executed. This is confirmed by the words and deeds of Muhammad. The only freedom of belief in Islam is the freedom to become Muslim.

Islamic Law: There is also a consensus by all four schools of Sunni Islamic jurisprudence (Maliki, Hanbali, Hanafi, and Shafii), as well as classical Shiite jurists, that apostates from Islam must be put to death. The process of declaring a person to be an apostate is known as takfir and the disbeliever is called a murtad.

The “Religion of Peace” expanded across the globe by conquering people of other religions and then making life miserable for those who did not embrace Islam. Once spoken, a person was locked into the faith. Any sign of false witness, such as raising their children in another faith, was punished with death. Thus, Islam gradually supplanted other religions.

Some apologists bend the truth in order to distance Islam from one of its most draconian rules. The world’s most popular Muslim apologist recently affirmed that the death penalty should be applied to those who leave Islam and share their faith with others.

 

Galatians 5:1 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Top 10 Reasons…Thoughts from an American Soldier

The following is from an American soldier who has served in the Middle East.

Here’s TEN reasons, I’m always saying: “ISLAM” The RELIGION OF PEACE my A$$…

#1) 18,000 deadly attacks committed explicitly in the name of Islam in just the last ten years. Other religions combined for perhaps a dozen or so.

#2) Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, had people killed for insulting him or for criticizing his religion.  This included women. Muslims are told to emulate the example of Muhammad.

#3) Muhammad said in many places that he has been “ordered by Allah to fight men until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is his messenger.”  In the last nine years of his life, he ordered no less than 65 military campaigns to do exactly that. Muhammad inspired his men to war with the basest of motives, using captured loot, sex, and a gluttonous paradise as incentives.  He beheaded captives, enslaved children, and raped women captured in battle.  Again, Muslims are told to emulate the example of Muhammad.

#4) After Muhammad died, the people who lived with him and knew his religion best immediately fell into war with each other.   Fatima, Muhammad’s favorite daughter, survived the early years among the unbelievers at Mecca safe and sound. Yet, she died of stress from the persecution of fellow Muslims only six months after her father died.  She even miscarried Muhammad’s grandchild after having her ribs broken by the man who became the second caliph. It was this same caliph, Umar, who ordered the death of the first convert to Islam at Medina, an elderly leader who became a close companion to Muhammad and proved his worth in battle.  Sa’d ibn Ubadah was killed after a failed bid to be caliph. Fatima’s husband Ali, who was the second convert to Islam and was raised like a son to Muhammad, fought a civil war against an army raised by Aisha, Muhammad’s favorite wife – and one whom he had said was a “perfect woman.”  10,000 Muslims were killed in a single internal battle waged less than 25 years after Muhammad’s death. Three of the first four Muslim rulers (caliphs) were murdered.  All of them were among Muhammad’s closest companions.  The third caliph was killed by allies of the son of the first (who was murdered by the fifth caliph a few years later, then wrapped in the skin of a dead donkey and burned).  The fourth caliph (Ali) was stabbed to death after a bitter dispute with the fifth.  The fifth caliph went on to poison one of Muhammad’s two favorite grandsons.  The other grandson was later beheaded by the sixth caliph. The infighting and power struggles between Muhammad’s family members, closest companions and their children only intensified with time.  Within 50 short years of Muhammad’s death, even the Kaaba, which had stood for centuries under pagan religion, lay in ruins from internal Muslim war… And that’s just the fate of those within the house of Islam!

#5) Muhammad directed Muslims to wage war on other religions and bring them into submission to Islam.  Within the first few decades following his death, his Arabian companions invaded and conquered Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist and Zoroastrian lands. A mere 25 years after Muhammad’s death, Muslim armies had captured land and people within the modern borders of over 28 countries outside of Saudi Arabia.

#6) Muslims continued their Jihad against other religions for 1400 years, checked only by the ability of non-Muslims to defend themselves.  To this day, not a week goes by that Islamic fundamentalists do not attempt to kill Christians, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists explicitly in the name of Allah.   None of these other religions are at war with each other.

#7) Islam is the only religion that has to retain its membership by formally threatening to kill anyone who leaves.  This is according to the example set by Muhammad.

#8) Islam teaches that non-Muslims are less than fully human.  Muhammad said that Muslims can be put to death for murder, but that a Muslim could never be put to death for killing a non-Muslim.

#9) The Quran never once speaks of Allah’s love for non-Muslims, but there are hundreds of verses that speak of Allah’s cruelty toward and hatred of non-Muslims.

#10) “Allahu Akbar!  Allahu Akbar!  Allahu Akbar!”   (The last words from the cockpit of Flight 93.)

Wife Beating…Thoughts from an American Soldier

Ephesians 5:25-33 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

This is how a husband is to relate to his wife. Jesus Christ is the model. Look at the verbs in the passage above…

Love, love, gave, sanctify, cleanse, wash, present, be holy, love, loves, loves, nourishes, cherishes, hold fast, become one, love…

 

hijab domestic abuseDoes the Religion of Peace believe in wife beating? Does Islam allow a man to hit his wife? YES!!!

But only if she doesn’t do as he asks. The beating must stop if the woman complies with her husband’s demands. Behind verbal abuse and abandonment, beating is intended as last resort solution to coerce submission. According to testimony in the Hadith, Mohammad physically struck his favorite wife for leaving the house without his permission. It is not known how he treated his less-favored wives.

Here’s where it’s found in the Quran in case someone tries to disclaim this to you.

Quran 4:34 Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.  

Quran 38:44 “And take in your hand a green branch and beat her with it, and do not break your oath…”  

Allah telling Job to beat his wife Tafsir.

 

Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradhawi, one of the most respected Muslim clerics in the world, once made the famous and somewhat ridiculous statement.

“It is forbidden to beat the woman, unless it is necessary.”

He went on to say that “one may beat only to safeguard Islamic behavior.”

There is no doubt that wife-beating is a matter of religious sanction.

 

Mohammed beat his wife and recommended wife beating to others. Allah sanctioned and gave directions on how to beat a wife.

Jesus loves, nourishes, and cherishes His wife. Christ demonstrates self-sacrifice for His bride. He wants to present her as blameless. Jesus took her place and died on her behalf. Christ keeps His wife from punishment.

Mohammed or Jesus, what’s your choice???

Deception…Thoughts from an American Soldier

Jesus tells us to be on guard against deception. There is no deception in Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me…”

Quran 3:54 And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers.

The Arabic word used here for scheme or plot is makara, which literally means “deceit”. If Allah is supremely deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same. See also Quran 8:30 and 10:21. Taken collectively these verses are interpreted to mean there are circumstances when a Muslim may be compelled to deceive others for a greater purpose.

The 9/11 hijackers practiced deception by going into bars and drinking alcohol. These acts of deception were to distract. They did not want to create potential suspicion they were Muslim fundamentalists plotting jihad. These efforts worked well. John Walsh, the host of a popular American television show, claimed after the fact their bar trips were evidence of hypocrisy.

The transmission from Flight 93 records the hijackers telling their doomed passengers that there is “a bomb on board”. but that everyone will “be safe” as long as “their demands are met.” Obviously, none of this was true. These men were intensely devoted to Islam. They were willing to “slay and be slain for the cause of Allah” as the Quran puts it. The hijackers saw nothing wrong with employing taqiyya to facilitate their mission of mass murder.

The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) insists that it “has not now or ever been involved with the Muslim Brotherhood, or supported any covert, illegal, or terrorist activity or organization.”  In fact, it was created by the Muslim Brotherhood and has bankrolled Hamas.  At least nine founders or board members of ISNA have been accused by prosecutors of supporting terrorism.

The notorious Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) is so well known for shamelessly lying about its ties to terror and extremism that books have been written on the subject.  They take seriously the part of Sharia Law that says, “It is permissible to lie if attaining the goal is permissible and obligatory to lie if the goal is obligatory.”

The goal is the ascendancy of Islam, and Sharia itself, on the American landscape.
