Straight Talk… Operate in God’s Glory, Rodna Epley
We are sons and daughters of our Father in heaven and Jesus was our example of how to operate in the glory of the Father. We are Sons and Daughters of glory. Denying that the glory is for us today is denying who we are and who we are created to be.
When “the earth is filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14) … all of God’s children will be looking and acting just like Jesus, in the image of our Father.
John 14:12 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
The Holy Spirit is training us now in how to operate in the glory.
John 16:3 And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.
This is His job. First, we have to believe the Word in that glorification for us is happening now (2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 8:29,30; John 5:44; 2 Thessalonians 2:14, John 17:5,22, et al), not some day in the sweet by and by, or when the roll is called up yonder. But now. Glory revealed in us and in our situations isn’t automatic and it isn’t always immediate, but it comes quickly after the declaration of the Word, not thousands of years later.
For I consider “that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory about to be revealed in us;” (Romans 8:18, YLT)
Some Bible versions are misleading here. The glory is “about to be revealed in us”, not way in the future after we’re all dead. When Jesus turned the water to wine, it was in a matter of minutes that the glory was revealed.
John 2:11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.
Everyone who’s ever been miraculously healed or had anything happen you consider to be miraculous in your life, even if others can explain it away, then you’ve witnessed God’s glory in operation. But the Father’s intention all along has been for the church to come up higher (Luke 14:10; Revelation 4:1; 11:12), and for us to learn to operate in His glory all the time, just like Jesus did.
John 21:25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen.
