If you keep looking back, you’ll keep yourself from moving forward to the great things God has planned for you. In order to get to where you’re supposed to be, you have to leave where you’ve been. Do not stay stuck in what is holding you back. Most often, that’s something on the inside. The windshield is bigger than the rear view mirror for a reason. Step out in faith…

Isaiah 43:18 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.

Isaiah 65:17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.”

TEXT: ISAIAH 43:18-21

Key Verse: Isaiah 43:19 “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

An interesting map is on display in the British Museum in London. It’s an old mariner’s chart, drawn in 1525, outlining the North American coastline and adjacent waters. The cartographer made some intriguing notations on areas of the map that represented regions not yet explored. He wrote: “Here be giants,” “Here be fiery scorpions,” and “Here be dragons.” Eventually, the map came into the possession of Sir John Franklin, a British explorer in the early 1800s. Scratching out the fearful inscriptions, he wrote these words across the map: “HERE IS GOD.”

Prophet Isaiah was comforting Israel in our text after their humiliating experience during their captivity in Babylon and the national shame it brought. He wanted them to understand how impossible it was for them to make progress as a nation without breaking from the past and focusing on the future. He anchored his encouragement on the endless possibilities of God’s promise to do a new thing.

As we begin the New Year, we must forget the impossibilities of the past and focus on what God has promised to do in the future. Though we live in a world that is uncertain and unpredictable, we have a God who knows the end from the beginning. The angry, bitter and painful words spoken against us in the past year must be allowed to pass with it. We must equally bury the old negative thoughts, speak positively to our future and allow God be in charge during moments of our deepest fears.

The failure, disappointment, distress and destruction of the past year will surely give way to progress and success this New Year. God has promised to make everything beautiful for us in this New Year. You have nothing to worry about. Welcome to a brand New Year. Happy New Year!!!

Our Daily Bread, Let it Go… Paul Beverly

You’ll never get to where you are supposed to be if you are carrying yesterday’s baggage. Looking back on what was & holding on to it keeps you stuck where you are. Let go & move forward. Let go & let God.

Philippians 3:12-14 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Isiah 43:18 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.”

Have a letting go week my friends!!!

1-chasing-tailDoes it seem like you keep getting the same disappointing results over & over again? Maybe it’s because you keep doing the same things over & over again. Maybe you need to stop going back to what hurts you. Maybe it’s time to take a different path in order to get the desired results. To move on to what God has in store for you, you have to leave the past behind. Change can be good.

Isiah 43:18 “Forget the former things, do not dwell on the part.”

Philippians 3:13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind & straining forward to what is ahead.
