The Apostle Peter brings the definitive hammer when it comes to the timing of the year regarding the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The year is 33 AD.

Acts 2:19-22 ‘AND I WILL GRANT WONDERS IN THE SKY ABOVE AND SIGNS ON THE EARTH BELOW, BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND VAPOR OF SMOKE. THE SUN WILL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS AND THE MOON INTO BLOOD, BEFORE THE GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY OF THE LORD SHALL COME. AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.’

The context of these verses is the day of Pentecost after the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Pentecost is 49 days after the First Fruits or the resurrection. It is referred to as Shavuot in the Hebrew. Peter is quoting the prophet Joel 2:30-32a.

Acts 2:22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—

Unleavened Bread, Nisan 15, Saturday, 33 AD

Jesus was buried and in the grave on the Feast of Unleavened Bread, a Sabbath or Saturday.

PaulthePoke

The second of God’s holidays is Unleavened Bread or Chag haMatazt in the Hebrew. The holiday begins on the 15th of Nisan and runs for seven days.

The directions for Unleavened Bread are noted in Exodus 12:15-20. The focus of the week is to live a life without leaven, the symbol for sin. Leaven is not to be in the house. Leaven products are not to be consumed. Bread without yeast, matzah, is to be eaten.

Scripture is clear God’s appointed Unleavened Bread took place on the Sabbath. Luke 23:56 Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

Matthew 27:62-66 Now on the next day, the day after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered together with Pilate, and said, “Sir, we remember that when He was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I am to

Passover, Nisan 14, Twilight, 33 AD

Approximately 1,500 years after Moses was given the Law, Jesus’ sacrificial death fulfilled the requirements of the Passover lamb figuratively and literally, to the hour and to the minute.

Exodus 12:5-6 Your lamb shall be an unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to kill it at twilight.

The point is made clearly. The Passover lamb is to be sacrificed on Nisan 14 at twilight.

Leviticus 23:5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight is the LORD’S Passover.

Numbers 9:3 On the fourteenth day of this month, at twilight, you shall observe it at its appointed time; you shall observe it according to all its statutes and according to all its ordinances.

Numbers 9:5 They observed the Passover in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, at twilight, in the wilderness of Sinai; according to all that the LORD…

Passover, Nisan 14, Noon – 3 PM, 33 AD

The Bible confirms secular history. The sun went dark at noon. The year was 33 AD. Christ was on the cross at that time.

Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour.

Mark 15:33 When the sixth hour came, darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour.

Luke 23:44-45 It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two.

This three hour period of darkness is one clue that confirms the year of Christ’s death.

Hebrews mark time the following way. The sun comes up in the first hour. The sun sets in the twelfth hour. Midday or noon is the sixth hour. The ninth hour is 3 o’clock in a western way of thinking. As we view time in a western sense, darkness fell upon the land at noon and remained until 3 p.m.

The event described in the…

The directions and ritual of the continual, daily sacrifice from the Mosaic Law scream, “JESUS”!

PaulthePoke

Exodus 29:38-42 Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two one year old lambs each day, continuously. The one lamb you shall offer in the morning and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight…

There are two sacrifices per day. One is in the morning and one is in the afternoon at twilight. The daily sacrifices (morning and evening) are to be given with a bread and wine offering (Exodus 29:40-42). The daily offering directions are restated in Numbers 28:1-8.

This sacrifice is to be done continuously or tamid in the Hebrew. Per Strong’s Concordance, tamid means: continuity, perpetuity, to stretch, continually, continuously (as adverb).

The book of Acts offers a clue as to the time of the evening sacrifice. Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer. To the Hebrew…

Passover, Nisan 14, Friday, 33 AD

Jesus, the Passover lamb, died the day before the Sabbath on Friday.

PaulthePoke

John 19:31 Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. The Sabbath is Saturday. The day before Saturday is Friday. The Jews wanted to make sure everyone was dead before the Sabbath.

John 18:39 “But you have a custom that I release someone for you at the Passover; do you wish then that I release for you the King of the Jews?” – Pilate

John 19:14 Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, “Behold, your King!” – Pilate

Luke 22:15 And He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before…

Exodus 12:1-6 Now the Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, “This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth of this month they are each one to take a lamb for themselves, according to their fathers’ households, a lamb for each household. Now if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his neighbor nearest to his house are to take one according to the number of persons in them; according to what each man should eat, you are to divide the lamb.
