Hebrew Altar in Egypt

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Egypt/Nile River, Isaiah, Prophecy with tags , , , , , , on May 4, 2019 by paulthepoke

Isaiah 19:21 In that day there will be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the LORD near its border.

At some point in the future there will be a structure of worship, an altar to the God of Israel in the middle of Egypt. This is an incredible statement.

Imagine what would happen if one would go over to Egypt at this time in history (May 2019) and try to build an altar to some god other than Allah. I don’t think that would be well received or tolerated. Note the location of the altar, it will be in the middle of Egypt. The Hebrew word for midst is tavek. It means among or middle.

It would appear the pillar is a second and different structure than the altar based on grammar. It is placed on the border, which border?

Ancient Egypt was divided into Upper (area in southern Egypt) and Lower (area in the north) Egypt. The terminology upper and lower is based on the flow of the Nile. The Nile flows from upper elevations in the south to lower elevations in the north. The border between the two areas is roughly modern day Cairo or near Giza and the Great Pyramid. Generally, the pharaoh of Egypt was leader of both Upper and Lower regions.

The other possible border would be the one Israel and Egypt share.

There needs to be a point of comparison between the two nouns altar and pillar. Note that altar (mizbeach) is a masculine noun and pillar (matstsebah) is a feminine noun. The gender of the two nouns is an issue because of the pronoun that begins the next verse, “It”. In the Hebrew, “It” is a masculine pronoun. It would stand to reason that ties it to the masculine noun altar (mizbeach).

The altar is in the middle of Egypt. The pillar could be on the border of Israel/Egypt or the border of Upper and Lower Egypt.

Isaiah 19:22 It will become a sign and a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the LORD because of oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Champion, and He will deliver them.

The altar will be a signal to the LORD. So there is no confusion, the altar is in the middle of Egypt. Believing Egyptians will cry out to the God of Israel at that time. The idea of oppression is “being squeezed” in the Hebrew. God hears them and sends them One who will deliver and save. One who is exceedingly and abundantly great and strong. Guess who?

He is coming again…

Temple Altar Dedicated, December 2018

Exodus 20:25 If you make an altar of stone for Me, you shall not build it of cut stones, for if you wield your tool on it, you will profane it.

Deuteronomy 27:5 Moreover, you shall build there an altar to the LORD your God, an altar of stones; you shall not wield an iron tool on them.

These are the directions given to Moses by God.

Fast forward to the 21st century…These directions have been followed again. The Mosaic Law has been followed accordingly. Stones from the remote shores of the Dead Sea were gathered from this location. The stones have not been touched by iron equipment, cut, or quarried. The stones were wrapped in plastic to protect them from being touched by iron. Workers completed their labor barefoot. The completed altar is versatile. It can be assembled and reassembled easily.

December 2018: The altar for the third Jewish Temple was dedicated on the last day of Hanukkah. In the Hebrew language, Hanukkah means “dedication”.

The precedent has been set to start sacrifices without a temple. This was the case in the book of Ezra.

Ezra 3:6 From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, but the foundation of the temple of the LORD had not been laid.

Jewish Rabbinical scholars and members of the modern day Sanhedrin do believe the altar should be located on the Temple Mount. The specific location of the altar is believed to be meters east of the Islamic Dome of the Rock.

Hillel Weiss is the spokesman for the Sanhedrin. Weiss stated animal sacrifices per the Mosaic Law would start immediately on the given location on the Temple Mount if given clearance by the government of Israel. Weiss encourages the government to be “the first to support” these sacrifices.

Just waiting on political clearance… We are getting closer… Where’s your heart??? All of this is happening before us in our time, just like the Bible said. You got Jesus???

The vessels and instruments are ready. The priests are being trained for Temple worship service. The sacrificial altar has been built. Blue prints for the Temple are complete. Efforts are being made for a genetically engineered red heifer. We are getting closer.

Trend Update: Temple Stone Altar, March 2015

These are the directions given to Moses by God.

Fast forward to the 21st century…These directions have been followed again. The Temple Institute has recently announced the completion of the stone altar for sacrificial service.

The altar is currently on display at the Temple Institute. When the time comes, the altar can be moved to the reconstructed Temple.

Joshua followed the directions given per Moses when he built an altar.

Joshua 8:31 just as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded the sons of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of uncut stones on which no man had wielded an iron tool; and they offered burnt offerings on it to the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings.

In the days of King Solomon, the law was followed and the altar was built accordingly.

1 Kings 6:7 The house, while it was being built, was built of stone prepared at the quarry, and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any iron tool heard in the house while it was being built.

When the Israelites returned to Jerusalem after their exile from King Cyrus of Persia, they too built an altar. The construction of the altar was led by a high priest named Jeshua. Incidentally, Jeshua is the Jewish name for Jesus who is our High Priest.

Ezra 3:2 Then Jeshua the son of Jozadak and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brothers arose and built the altar of the God of Israel to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.

The precedent has been set to start sacrifices without a temple. This was the case in the book of Ezra.

Ezra 3:6 From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, but the foundation of the temple of the LORD had not been laid.

The seventh month on a Hebrew calendar is Tishri. This first day would be the beginning of the Civic New Year. We know it as Rosh Hashanah or the Feast of Trumpets. It is also known as the Yom Teruah. This year on our Gregorian calendar, the holiday begins at sunset September 14, 2015.

Who knows? Maybe the sacrificial system on the new altar will be initiated again this year, this fall, on this day…
