Trend Update: Breath of His Nostrils, Sea Water Recedes, September 2017

2 Samuel 22:14-16 The LORD thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice. And he sent out arrows and scattered them; lightning, and routed them. Then the channels of the sea were seen; the foundations of the world were laid bare, at the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils.

This passage is an excerpt from a song or psalm written by David. He had been delivered from his enemies and King Saul. The LORD God had spared David.

At first glance, the verses appear to be over the top and unfathomable. How in the world can the water of the sea be removed and we see the floor of the ocean?

The critic of the Bible has a field day with verses like these. “The Bible is a book of fairy tales. The little stories are just cute fables. This is an example of an uneducated, primitive man trying to make sense of a so called God.”

Prior to Hurricane Irma, the ocean was reported to recede in the Bahamas, Pensacola Bay Florida, and Tampa Bay Florida. This was a result of the strength of Hurricane Irma.

But in other parts of the western hemisphere where hurricanes are not occurring, vast swaths of beaches in Brazil and Uruguay are reporting the same phenomena. The ocean is receding from the shore along hundreds of miles. The recession is so striking, natives are in fear of tidal waves.

…at the blast of the breath of his nostrils…The focus of the passage is on the terms “blast” and “breath”.

“Blast” or neshamah in the Hebrew means breath.

“Breath” or ruach in the Hebrew means breath, wind, or spirit. Ruach is the same word used of the Holy Spirit of God. The word is most frequently translated as “spirit” from the Hebrew.

Simply put, God is breathing through His nose. If this is an example of God breathing, I don’t think I am interested in seeing the results of God blowing His nose or sneezing.

This is not an example of Mother Nature. This is the omnipotent and all powerful creator El Shaddai at work. The meaning of Shaddai in the Hebrew: almighty, most powerful; the Almighty of God. (Strong’s Concordance).

Psalm 135:6-7 Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps. He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; Who makes lightnings for the rain, Who brings forth the wind from His treasuries.

The last passage in the psalm is a promise to God’s chosen people of Israel. David ruled Israel 1,000 years before Jesus Christ. Today in the 21st century, we are 3,000 years removed from this prophecy. The pledge is not temporary. The promise is eternal.

2 Samuel 22:51 “He is a tower of deliverance to His king, and shows lovingkindness to His anointed, to David and his descendants forever.”

Antichrist, The Beast, Part 2

Posted in Antichrist/Beast, Prophecy with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 25, 2015 by paulthepoke

Revelation 13:1 And the dragon stood on the sand of the seashore. Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.

Who is the dragon? That is answered in Revelation 12:9. And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. Chapter 12 of Revelation discusses how the Satan and his angels have been ejected from Heaven to Earth. He is described as having great wrath or thumos in the Greek. Per Strong’s Concordance, thumos means: passion, angry, heat, anger forthwith boiling up and soon subsiding again; glow, ardour, the wine of passion, inflaming wine (which either drives the drinker mad or kills him with its strength). This anger is modified as great or megas (used of intensity and its degrees: with great effort, of the affections and emotions of the mind, of natural events powerfully affecting the senses: violent, mighty, strong) in the Greek. To say Satan is not happy is an understatement. The focus of his angst will be Israel.

Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea… From where does the beast or antichrist emerge? Is he Jewish or gentile? This is a topic of great debate. There are reasonable presentations suggesting he is Jewish. Our eternal salvation is not dependent on this issue. Bible believing people can respectfully disagree.

This blog’s position: The antichrist is a gentile.

The antichrist is the last leader of the times of the Gentiles. In today’s world (January 2015), would the United Nations allow a Jewish man to be Secretary General? Would the Muslim world be agreeable to this idea? Stranger things have happened. Jerusalem, Israel is going to be pummeled prior to the return of Christ. Of those Jews who are not killed, the antichrist will try to disperse the Jews again from Israel. He wants to purge Israel of  their people. Luke 21:24 …and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Historically, Gentiles have lead invasions of Israel. Gentiles persecute the Jews. Look at the leaders who have done this in the past: Nebuchadnezzar (Babylon), Tiglath-Pileser (Assyria), Antiochus Epiphanes (Greek King, Seleucid Empire), also Nero and the Romans. Would a Jewish leader of a foreign army launch an invasion of Israel?

In the Bible, the sea is equated with gentile nations. There are examples in the Old Testament and New Testament.

Isaiah 17:12 Alas, the uproar of many peoples who roar like the roaring of the seas, and the rumbling of nations who rush on like the rumbling of mighty waters!

Ezekiel 26:3 therefore thus says the Lord GOD, ‘Behold, I am against you, O Tyre (Lebanon), and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves…

Luke 21:25 There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves.

A primary key to understanding and interpreting Revelation 13:1 is given later in Revelation 17. In regards to the beast coming out of the seaRevelation 17:15 And he said to me, “The waters which you saw where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.

Eventually, a Jewish man will descend from Heaven. And He will rule. Acts 1:11 They (angels) also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

Isaiah 17:12-14 Burden of Damascus: Raging Waters

Isaiah 17:12 Alas, the uproar of many peoples who roar like the roaring of the seas, and the rumbling of nations who rush on like the rumbling of mighty waters!

The verse starts with a comment in the original Hebrew that should gain attention. “Hey, you are as good as dead!” Others have taken this to be a funeral cry. Either way, our translators have obviously softened this. This point is emphasized twice in the verse. Essentially God is telling them they can make all the noise they want, they are still going down. The nations can shout louder and longer, but it does not matter.

At this point, many people from many nations are now involved. There is irony and symmetry to these events in the future. People are acting like rushing and rumbling waters. God gives them rushing and rumbling waters.

Luke 21:25 “There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves…” These are the words of Jesus. He is referring to a time coming where people will be freaking out because of the physical waves of the ocean. We can think of the possibilities: hurricanes, tsunamis, Noreaster. Do people freak out in today’s world when these events happen? Just watch the news. We have reporters on site to show you “Live!” These are not your garden variety events. The events appear to be global in nature. The text says nations, plural. The description in the Greek indicates the nations responses to the magnitude of the events: dire straits, anguish, dismay, anxiousness, and perplexity. The MSG translates this verse as “It will seem like all hell has broken loose–sun, moon, stars, earth, sea…”

Isaiah 17:13 The nations rumble on like the rumbling of many waters, but He will rebuke them and they will flee far away, and be chased like chaff in the mountains before the wind, or like whirling dust before a gale.

Chaff is the husk, stalk, and other light weighted material that is separated from the grain. In those days grain and chaff were separated on a threshing floor. A person would beat and whip the stalks of the plant to separate out the grain. The wind would blow away the lighter material and the heavier grain would fall to the floor for collection.

Whirling dust, sounds like a tornado. This is how God will address them. They will be beaten to the point of separation and blown away by a powerful and destructive wind.

Isaiah 17:14 At evening time, behold, there is terror! Before morning they are no more. Such will be the portion of those who plunder us and the lot of those who pillage us.

These events will take place suddenly and within the scope of a few hours. The anxiety happens as the sun is setting. There is a period of darkness and calamity over the night. When the sun comes up, it is over and they are gone. A reminder that Genesis 12:3 still applies, “And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

There is good news after all of this destruction.
