The Imminent Rapture Should Change How We Live – Mark Wilson

Prophecy was never given merely to satisfy our curiosity about what happens next.

It was given to make us ready.

Jesus promised: “I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world…” Revelation 3:10

And Paul described the glorious gathering:

“We who are still alive…will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17

If the Rapture is truly imminent, the Church should live with expectancy.
But expectancy without accountability is incomplete.

Because after the gathering comes the Bema Seat.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…” 2 Corinthians 5:10

This is not judgment for salvation. Christ already bore our condemnation.

But grace does not erase accountability.
Our works will be examined.

Our motives will be exposed.

Our stewardship will matter.

Scripture does not give us a transcript of the questions Jesus will ask, but it tells us clearly what will matter.

💡 HOW WERE YOU LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS?

“You are the light of the world.” Matthew 5:14

Did your life point people toward Christ? Did you shine when darkness increased? Or did you hide the lamp because shining became uncomfortable?

~

🧂 HOW WERE YOU SALT IN A DECAYING CULTURE?

“You are the salt of the earth.” Matthew 5:13

When truth became unpopular, did you preserve it, speak it, and live it? Or did you slowly become indistinguishable from the world?

~

📣 WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THE GOSPEL?

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel…” Mark 16:15

Who heard about Jesus because you were here? Who did you pray for? Who did you tell? Who might be in eternity because you refused to remain silent?

~

📖 WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THE TRUTH I GAVE YOU?

“Correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

Did you contend for truth when compromise was easier? Did you handle Scripture faithfully? Or reshape it to fit the culture?

~

⏳ WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THE TIME I GAVE YOU?

“Making the most of every opportunity…” Ephesians 5:16

Your days were numbered. Your conversations were numbered. Your opportunities were numbered. Did you redeem them?

~

❤️ WHY DID YOU SERVE ME?

The Lord: “will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart.” 1 Corinthians 4:5

Did you serve Christ for His glory? Or for recognition, applause, influence, and reputation? Was it really about Him?

~

🔥 WHAT DID YOU BUILD THAT WILL SURVIVE?

Paul says every believer’s work will be tested. Gold. Silver. Precious stones. Wood. Hay. Straw.

“The fire will test the quality of each person’s work.” 1 Corinthians 3:13

Some things that look enormous on earth may disappear at the Bema. Some quiet acts of obedience nobody noticed may shine forever.

🛡️ WHEN FOLLOWING ME COST YOU SOMETHING, WERE YOU FAITHFUL?

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial…” James 1:12

Did you stand when standing became costly? Did you love Christ more than comfort?

~

🌿 WHAT DID YOU DO WITH ISRAEL?

Paul says salvation came to the Gentiles: “to make Israel envious.” Romans 11:11

So ask it plainly: Did my life provoke the Jewish people to jealousy for their own Messiah? Did I show them love? Did I pray for their salvation? Did I honor the people through whom came the covenants, the Scriptures, the patriarchs, and Messiah according to the flesh?

Or did I boast against the branches?

“Do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches.” Romans 11:18

Gentile believers were called to gratitude, humility, mercy, prayer, and Gospel witness.

Did Israel see something in us that made them long for their Messiah?

👀 DID KNOWING PROPHECY ACTUALLY CHANGE YOU?

Did prophecy make us more holy? More urgent? More compassionate? More evangelistic? More focused on eternity? Or merely more informed?

“All who have this hope in him purify themselves…” 1 John 3:3

If prophetic knowledge never changes how we live, something is wrong.

👑 DID YOU OCCUPY UNTIL I CAME?

Jesus said: “Put this money to work… until I come back.” Luke 19:13

Then the nobleman returned and called his servants to account for what they had done with what he entrusted to them. That is the force of the Parable of the Minas.

The issue was not merely: “Did you know I was coming back?”

It was: “What did you do while I was gone?”

And for us: “What did you do because you believed I was coming?”

Not speculate until I come. Not retreat until I come. Occupy. Serve. Witness. Pray. Stand. Love. Work. Watch.

Because the Jesus who promised: “I will come back and take you to be with me…” John 14:3

also said: “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me…” Revelation 22:12

IMMINENCE → EXPECTANCY → HOLINESS → SERVICE → ACCOUNTABILITY → REWARD

One day the trumpet will sound. The dead in Christ will rise. We who remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

Then every earthly opportunity will be over. No more darkness in which to shine. No more culture in which to be salt. No more person to evangelize. No more Jewish friend to love and provoke to jealousy for Messiah. No more assignment to finish.

And the question will no longer be: “When was the Rapture going to happen?”

It will be: “What did you do while you were waiting for Me?”

“Each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” Romans 14:12

And even the crowns we receive will ultimately return to Him.

The elders cast their crowns before the throne: “You are worthy, our Lord and God…” Revelation 4:10–11

That is the destination. Not merely receiving a crown. Having something to lay at His feet.

Prophecy should not produce spectators. It should produce servants.

The imminent Rapture is not permission to abandon the world. It is a reason to spend ourselves for Christ while there is still time.

He is coming.

Be watching.

Be working.

Be witnessing.

Be faithful.

Be ready.

“Where is the promise of His coming?” Why Scoffers Rise in the Last Days… Mark Wilson

You don’t have to look far to see it.

Mockery of Scripture. Dismissal of Christ’s return. Confidence that everything will continue as it always has.

The Bible said this would happen. Not as a minor detail, but as a defining mark of the last days.

The Atmosphere of the End Times

2 Timothy 3:1–5 “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self… proud, arrogant… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…”

This is the soil where scoffing grows. When self becomes ultimate, truth becomes optional. When pleasure is elevated, accountability becomes offensive.

Scoffing is not merely intellectual doubt, it is moral resistance to a holy God.

Truth Rejected, Myths Embraced

2 Timothy 4:3–4 “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching… and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”

It is not just rejection, it is replacement. People exchange truth for what feels better, what affirms them, what removes conviction.

And when truth confronts them again, the response is not humility—it is ridicule.

An Ancient Voice Still Speaking

Isaiah 5:18–19 “Let him be quick, let him speed his work that we may see it… let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near…”

Different generation. Same defiance.

“Let Him act now.”

“Prove it.”

The Root: Willful Blindness

2 Peter 3:5 “They deliberately overlook this fact…”

This is not honest doubt. It is chosen blindness.

Scoffers are not lacking evidence—they are resisting its implications.

~

The Pattern They Ignore

God has judged the world before. From Genesis 6–7, the flood stands as a historical warning: judgment delayed is not judgment denied.

Scoffers dismiss the past because it threatens their present.

~

The Days of Noah Return

Luke 17:26–30 “Just as it was in the days of Noah… they were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage… until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all…”

This is the deception of the last days: Not chaos, but normalcy. Not panic, but indifference. Life continues… until suddenly, it doesn’t.

Two Witnesses: The Scoffers Foretold

2 Peter 3:3–4 “Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires…”

Jude 18 “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.”

This is not one voice, it is a confirmed pattern.

Scoffing is prophecy being fulfilled in real time. This is not honest doubt. It is chosen blindness.

As C. S. Lewis observed: “A man cannot be made to see a thing which he does not wish to see.”

Scoffers are not lacking evidence, they are resisting its implications.

The same Word that predicted scoffers also predicted the King’s return.

Prophetic Certainty Scoffers increase. Truth stands. The timeline moves.

Revelation 22:12 “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me…”

The question is not whether He will come. He has already spoken.

The Final Word

And Scripture leaves us with this—not speculation, but certainty:

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

His delay is not absence. It is mercy.

Every day that passes is not proof that He won’t come— it is proof that He is still calling.

But mercy has a horizon.

There Shall Be Seven Weeks: Feasts (Trumpets/Teruah, Day of Blowing)

Daniel 9:25b …there shall be seven weeks…

The context of this series of posts is the course of the Jewish people for the initial 49 years of the 483 year period communicated from the angel Gabriel to the prophet Daniel. The city of Jerusalem has been rebuilt post exile. These events are covered in Nehemiah 8-13. Israel is returning to God’s Law. The focus is on God’s appointed holidays. This week, the Feast of Trumpets or Yom Teruah is the topic. Many know the day as Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish civil New Year. This is the first of three posts on the initial Fall Feast.

Leviticus 23:23-25 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord.’”

Numbers 29:1 ‘Now in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall also have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. It will be to you a day for blowing trumpets.

And blow the trumpets they do. This holiday has many names. It is called the Feast of Trumpets by Christians. It is recognized as the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. In Judaism, it is called Yom Teruah which means the “Day of Blowing”.

The directions for the holiday are straight forward.

  1. It is to be a day of rest or a Sabbath.
  2. The day is a holy or separate day. It is a convocation. The Hebrew word for convocation is miqra’. Per Strong’s Concordance it means: rehearsal, convocation, a reading, a calling together, or sacred assembly.
  3. It is a memorial and reminder to blow or shout. The Hebrew word is teruah. It means: alarm, signal, a sound of tempest, shout of joy, blast of war, alarm, joy, war-cry, or battle-cry.

Judaism recognizes three trumps: first trump, the last trump, and the great trump. Each one of these named trumps represents a specific day. The “first trump” is blown on the Feast of Pentecost (Exodus 19:19). The “great trump” is blown on Yom Kippur and signals the return of Christ to Earth (Matthew 24:31). The “last trump” is synonymous with Yom Teruah or Rosh Hashanah (1 Corinthians 15:52). Resources: Festivals of the Jewish Year, Theodore Gaster; The High Holy Days, Herman Kieval.

This God appointed holiday is the only new moon observance. This is not some Old Testament warm and fuzzy tradition. God has a point and a reason. He has not forgotten. The Apostle Paul makes note of this holiday. 

Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

God has singled out this appointed holiday for some big time fireworks! Judaism has been rehearsing this holiday for thousands of years since Moses.

Has the Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed) connected the dots… (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.)

Resurrection and rapture on the Feast of Trumpets???

Daniel’s Answered Prayers

Daniel 9:22 He made me understand, speaking with me and saying, “O Daniel, I have now come out to give you insight and understanding.

God has heard Daniel’s prayers. The Lord has sent Gabriel. Daniel gives all the credit to Gabriel. The angel is the source of information and consideration. Gabriel is bringing truth from God.

Daniel 9:23 At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word and understand the vision.

…a word went out… God was listening to Daniel’s petition and He responded. Notice God did not waste any time. He responded to Daniel “At the beginning“. A word or dabar in the Hebrew went out. Dabar is translated as a word or speech. God was giving Daniel an answer to his prayers. Yahweh sent the angel Gabriel to deliver the message.

…you are greatly loved… Gabriel provides confirmation to Daniel regarding his position in God. Daniel is told he is “greatly loved” or chamad. The term is also translated as desired. God takes pleasure in Daniel. Definitions provided by Strong’s Concordance.

Daniel’s plea and prayers were answered and then some. Little did Daniel know, he was about to receive the outline of history for at least the next 2,500 years. The information revealed would include the first and second coming of the Messiah Jesus, the construction of two temples, the demolition of one temple, the destruction of Jerusalem, the forecast of the antichrist, the outline for the end times scenario, and the ushering of an everlasting and eternal peace… restoration as God intended.

Daniel’s position in God is no different than our position today. God has blessed us with favor and grace.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

God desires for humanity to be restored as He created us. He loves us all yet He gives us the choice to choose Him.

1 Timothy 2:3-6 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is One mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.

Time is running short. The choice is yours…

Straight Talk… The Trinity, Baptism and Resurrection, Featuring Rodna Epley

Rodna LightIn Matthew’s telling of Jesus’ baptism something amazing happened when Jesus was submerged into the water. Scripture tells that He “came up immediately from the water” as if what they saw was miraculous. It should have taken the normal time to come up after being dunked with the baptizer helping, but in Jesus’ case something supernatural raised Him up, making people take note of it and make record of it. It wasn’t normal. In fact, the heavens opened at the same time, the Spirit of God descended in the form of a dove and the voice of the Father spoke. Have you ever been curious as to what raised Jesus up out of the water so quickly that people wanted to record it? Scripture tells us. Here’s the story as recorded in Matthew 3:13-17…

Matthew 3:13-14 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”

Matthew 3:15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

Matthew 3:16-17 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

The baptism was more than symbolic of His death because everything Jesus did was prophetic. In fact, the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit the Prophecy.

Revelation 19:10 Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

His baptism was not only a “fulfillment of all righteousness” but it set the prophetic timer on His own death and resurrection. His own words were to later set the alarm clock to be raised from the dead 3 days after He was crucified when He declared…

John 2:19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

But, at His baptism in the Jordan River, 3 years prior to His death, the One’s who were present at His baptism were the same One’s present at Jesus’ death and resurrection. 

Scripture tells us who and what that was…

  1. The glory of the Father raised Jesus from the dead. “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)
  2. The Spirit of God raised Jesus from the dead. “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. (Romans 8:11)
  3. The Power of God raised Jesus from the dead. “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 1:19-20)
  4. Jesus’ own prophetic words raised Jesus from the dead. “Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” (John 2:19) and “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” (John 10:17-18)

So that which raised Christ from the dead is that which raised Him up out of the water: The glory of the Father, the Spirit of God, the Power of God, and Jesus’ own prophetic words. In the case of His baptism, those words were most likely “Let it be so for now, for it is proper for us to fulfill all righteousness.”

But don’t miss the fact that the baptism and death and resurrection were all initiated by the Father of glory. Through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, we as Sons of the Kingdom are restored to our Father and restored to His glory.

I just think it’s so interesting how all of the Trinity was present and participated at both events, and that the Father bestowed all glory and honor upon His Son. It’s also extremely important to understand and know that Jesus gave us the same glory the Father gave Him before the world was so that we could all become one as the Bride of Christ (John 17:5,22,23) following in His pattern. Just wow! Consider the implications of all that…

Trend Update: Quakes in Various Places, Salton Sea, Bombay Beach, California, September 2016

Over the past week, there has been a swarm of earthquakes under the Salton Sea. Granted, most of the earthquakes have been less than 2.5 in magnitude. One issue is the location. This earthquake swarm is located on the southern edge of the San Andreas Fault Line. At the time of this post, approximately 275 tremors have occurred under the Salton Sea in the last week. Is the Big One coming???

Mark 13:7-8 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.    –Jesus

There are parallel passages regarding earthquakes by Jesus in Matthew 24:7 and Luke 21:11. The context is the Olivet Discourse. Jesus is answering questions from the disciples regarding the signs of His coming and the End of the Age (Matthew 24:3).

Is this Jesus referring to here and now of the early 21st century? If not, no big deal, life goes on.

If so, serious consequences. BIG TROUBLE for earthlings.

Think about it.

Trend Update: Blood Red Souris River, North Dakota, August 2016

Revelation 16:4 Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of waters; and they became blood.

The Souris River in North Dakota has turned blood red. This event does not indicate we are in the Tribulation. The context of this verse is in the latter third of the Tribulation. This is one river not all rivers. We are not in the Tribulation. It has not started.

Millennial Kingdom: Access to Wealth

A future Millennial Kingdom will have abundant food and economic prosperity. Somebody is going to have to plant, harvest, clean, package, distribute, and prepare all of this food. Finding work will not be a problem. Agriculture and related industry appear to play a significant role during this time. People will be living longer and the population is expected to explode accordingly.

Isaiah 30:23 Then He will give you rain for the seed which you will sow in the ground, and bread from the yield of the ground, and it will be rich and plenteous; on that day your livestock will graze in a roomy pasture.

The Hebrew word for “bread” is lechem. It means: grain, food, or bread per Strong’s Concordance.  A farmer will plant the seed and many will harvest the crop. Grain will be stored, then transported for the production of food and bread. Look at the jobs created…farm equipment; roads built; construction; energy use and distribution; bakeries and bakers; grocery stores…you get the idea.

…the yield of the ground, and it will be rich and plenteous…The Hebrew word for “rich” is the adjective dashen. It means: a substitute for fat or vigorous. The Hebrew word for “plenteous” is shamen. It means: fat, rich, robust. There are going to be a series of bumper crops.

…livestock will graze in a roomy pasture. The cattle, sheep, goats and such will have plenty of room to roam and a bounty of grains and grasses to feed.

Jeremiah 31:12 They will come and shout for joy on the height of Zion, and they will be radiant over the bounty of the LORD— Over the grain and the new wine and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd;, and they will never languish again.

The people of Israel are described as “radiant” or nahar in the Hebrew. This could also be translated and described as to shine, beam, light, or burn.

They are excited because of the “bounty” or goods, property, fairness, beauty, joy, and prosperity that comes from the LORD. He is the source. This is the best. It is appealing to the eye as well as the stomach. Listed in the verse are grapes, grains (barley and wheat are the primary crops in Israel), olives and its oil, and herds of healthy animals with offspring.

…and their life will be like a watered garden…The Hebrew word for “garden” is the same word used for the “Garden of Eden”. That garden in Genesis was created in perfection by God. The grammar talks about a water saturated garden. This place is not struggling for hydration like the desert that is Israel today.

Trend Update: Military Coup Underway In Turkey…Developing, July 15, 2016. The Military has claimed they have taken over. Prime Minister Erdogan says he is still in control. Bridges have been closed. Flights into Istanbul have been cancelled.

Ezekiel 38:1-3 The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, set your face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him and say, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

Note Gog of Magog (Russia) is a leader of the people of Magaog and Gomer, Meshech, Tubal, and Beth-Togarmah. These four are modern day Turkey.

Is Russia ultimately to usurp power in Turkey? This is likely to have significant prophetic and geo political implications.
