God’s Blessing in His Time… Christine McDonald

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Christine "Clarity" McDonald with tags , , on July 3, 2020 by paulthepoke

I’ll share with you a story that shows us how God loves us, how He blesses us in spite of our past mistakes. He always blesses in His timing, and, just as He sometimes answers prayers differently than we may ask. His blessings may not be what we expect, either. We don’t always know what’s best for us.

He knows all. He knows the whole story of our lives. He knows the perfect answer, the perfect blessing, and the perfect time. He is faithful!

I remember being really tired, much more than usual. No matter what I did or how much I slept, I was so tired, just wanting to sleep. I had done drugs for years, but now I found myself crawling under the tables in laundromats at night to just sleep. What was going on with me?

I had been picked up on a ticket and had gone to the city jail. I remember falling to the ground in the police station as they asked me to stand against the wall until my name was called for me to be booked in. I was taken to the emergency room, where they discovered I was dehydrated and severely underweight.

They came in later and told me I was pregnant. Really? I remember asking, “What did you just say?” They repeated those three life–changing words: “You are pregnant.” I responded, “I can’t be pregnant.” The emergency room professional seemed to be holding back a smirk, replying, “Well, Ms. McDonald, you are a prostitute. Don’t you know how the whole pregnancy thing works?”

I said, rather hatefully, I might add, “I know how it works. I am a prostitute and that is why I cannot be pregnant. How far along am I?”

They told me I was so underweight that it would be hard to tell, but they ordered an ultrasound. They brought me sandwiches and some Sprite, and I waited.

Oh, my gosh, I was thinking, this can’t be real! God only knows who the father is. I sure didn’t have a clue. I’m living in a park, sleeping in empty, abandoned buildings. I can’t be a mother! I didn’t even know what year or month it was.

After the ultrasound, they returned. “We think you’re about 12 to 14 weeks along, but it’s hard to tell.”

At least three months pregnant? Are you kidding me? The jeans I had on were a size zero, and I needed a belt to hold them up.

I was returned to the city jail. I believe I did 10 days, and then I was released. I still reflect back to that time in the emergency room, a place that was not unfamiliar to me. Why didn’t they send a social worker at that time, to offer some services? I believe it was because I was a known homeless prostitute who also suffered with the disease of addiction. I mean, I have worked with a lot of individuals over the years, and the ER staff generally asks if the patient wants to speak to a social worker. Is that because I’m present, so it appears that someone cares for them? Or is it because we have become more understanding of human trafficking and the darkness and many facets of prostituted persons’ lives? I’m not sure…

What are We Becoming? !!!

Posted in Culture, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , on November 5, 2018 by paulthepoke

tastytreat_frontIt’s really sad what’s been happening in these past couple of weeks. Bombs have been sent to politicians, elderly, weak and helpless people have been killed in a place of worship and we wonder why or what’s going on. What makes this worse is some of our top political leaders promote this kind of evil. I want ask you as I ask myself “What are we becoming?”, “Who do you/I want to be?” This has nothing to do with what political side you are on but a question on what road do we want to choose not just for ourselves but for others. I’d like to share what 1 Peter 3:8 says:

8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to
this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

10 For,“Whoever would love life and see good day must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

11 They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.

12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

I like the part where Peter indicates that when repay evil with blessing, we (you) will inherit a blessing. Isn’t that what we want in our lives are blessings? I know I do.

I’d like to ask a hard question here, Do you support this type of evil or are you in agreement with it? The bombs being sent, or people being gunned down in a synagogue. If you do, then ask if this will bring blessing in your life. Do you want blessing in your life?

Go-Vote-500x500

I want to challenge you, (and myself), to spread some peace/blessing this week. We can start by praying for our leaders. It doesn’t matter what political party you support. ALL of our leaders in ALL branches of our government need our prayer. Pray also for our enemies whether its personal enemies or the enemies we hear about in the news. Also very important is to VOTE!!. If you’re over 18, you have a great responsibility to make a difference. So Please Vote. Let me emphasize that I am NOT choosing a party here. I am indicating that you need to vote.

Get Your Blessing!!

Give Thanks to the Lord…

Leviticus 7:12 If he offers it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the thanksgiving sacrifice unleavened loaves mixed with oil, unleavened wafers smeared with oil, and loaves of fine flour well mixed with oil.

This is the first time the word “thanksgiving” is used in the Bible. “Thanksgiving” is mentioned before “thanks”. Thanksgiving is the Hebrew word todah. The issue is an attitude of the heart.

Psalms 107:1 Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

This is the Hebrew word yadah. It means to throw or cast. So throw it to the Lord. Laud and praise.

1 Timothy 4:3-4 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving

In the New Testament, the Greek word is εὐχαριστία/eucharistia. Translated literally, it is the giving of thanks for God’s grace or good grace. The word means: thankfulness or gratitude.

It is the perfect word for the verses out of 1 Timothy 4. Get the legalism and all the rules out of your life. Invite God’s grace. Be thankful for what God has provided and respond with a heart of gratitude.

The point is…God is the source. And that needs to be recognized.

Romans 14:6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.

May this Thanksgiving find you, your family, and friends with many blessings.

Our Daily Bread…Featuring Paul Beverly

We can’t control how others treat us, but we can control how we react. It’s easy to want to get even with someone who has wronged you, but God says to leave it to him to avenge evil. Getting revenge may seem like a temporary good feeling, but in the long run it will leave you feeling sick inside. Be at peace & focus on those that love you & lift you up. Don’t allow wrong doers space in your head.

Romans 12:17 Do not repay evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.

1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

Have a blessed week my friends!!!

Genesis 1:28 God, Reproduction, and Sex

Posted in Creation with tags , , , , , , , on October 13, 2011 by paulthepoke

Genesis 1:28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

There are 613 commandments found in the Law that Moses gave from God (Our Father Abraham, Jewish Roots of the Christian Faith; Marvin R. Wilson). Of all of the commandments God gives to humanity, the first is… “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth…” In those initial words, man is told to reproduce three times. In other words, have sexual intercourse.

Be fruitful or “parah” in the Hebrew. It is a simple action verb. Defined by Strong’s Concordance it means: to bear fruit, be fruitful.

Multiply or “rabah” in the Hebrew. As well, it is a simple action verb. It means: to become many, become numerous, multiply (of people, animals, or things).

Fill or “male’” in the Hebrew. Also, it is a simple action verb. It means: to be full, fullness, abundance (participle), be accomplished, to consecrate, fill the hand.

Sex within the context of marriage is not immoral, it is not a sin. This is the God of the Bible. He is not some prude, old, fuddy-duddy. God has an entire book on this subject, the Song of Solomon. He even talks about breasts in that book. To the Christian community, does that make you blush? The topic of sex is written about in detail in God’s word.

Obviously, the culture has mastered the perversions of sexual acts and or displays. Whether it is a monk who has taken an oath of celibacy for religious purposes or some sex act outside of marriage, both are perversions on the extreme ends of the spectrum and outside of God’s will.

As a result of Christian silence on this topic, the culture has been allowed to define this topic (as well as many others) and pervert it.

Psalm 127:3 Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Look at what God had intended for humanity. The first thing He told us to do was have sex and reproduce plentifully. He placed humanity in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15-16). Eden means “pleasure” in the Hebrew. We were told we could eat freely from any tree we wanted with one exception. And yes, take care of the garden and the animals. That is a pretty a good deal. What did we do? We blew it…

The world we live in is the result of our actions and choices, not God’s. What we see and experience now is not what God had intended.
