What are We Becoming? !!!

Posted in Culture, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , on November 5, 2018 by paulthepoke

tastytreat_frontIt’s really sad what’s been happening in these past couple of weeks. Bombs have been sent to politicians, elderly, weak and helpless people have been killed in a place of worship and we wonder why or what’s going on. What makes this worse is some of our top political leaders promote this kind of evil. I want ask you as I ask myself “What are we becoming?”, “Who do you/I want to be?” This has nothing to do with what political side you are on but a question on what road do we want to choose not just for ourselves but for others. I’d like to share what 1 Peter 3:8 says:

8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to
this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

10 For,“Whoever would love life and see good day must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.

11 They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it.

12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

I like the part where Peter indicates that when repay evil with blessing, we (you) will inherit a blessing. Isn’t that what we want in our lives are blessings? I know I do.

I’d like to ask a hard question here, Do you support this type of evil or are you in agreement with it? The bombs being sent, or people being gunned down in a synagogue. If you do, then ask if this will bring blessing in your life. Do you want blessing in your life?

Go-Vote-500x500

I want to challenge you, (and myself), to spread some peace/blessing this week. We can start by praying for our leaders. It doesn’t matter what political party you support. ALL of our leaders in ALL branches of our government need our prayer. Pray also for our enemies whether its personal enemies or the enemies we hear about in the news. Also very important is to VOTE!!. If you’re over 18, you have a great responsibility to make a difference. So Please Vote. Let me emphasize that I am NOT choosing a party here. I am indicating that you need to vote.

Get Your Blessing!!

Isaiah 10:1-2 Corruption in Government, Woe

Posted in Isaiah with tags , , , , , on September 15, 2013 by paulthepoke

Isaiah 10:1-2: Woe to those who enact evil statutes and to those who constantly record unjust decisions, so as to deprive the needy of justice and rob the poor of My people of their rights, so that widows may be their spoil and that they may plunder the orphans.

It is not a good day if God proclaims “Woe” in your direction. Woe can be translated many ways. Woe can mean: dead, as good as dead, poor, those doomed, judged, sure to be judged, danger awaits, grave danger, or sinful. These two verses are God’s reminders to Israel of their guilty charges. Translation, the legal system is in trouble.

The Hebrew grammar describes legislators who write laws for their benefit. Laws could be understood as troublesome or wicked. These laws were crafted and written in a corrupt manner over and over. This was taking place in Isaiah’s day. As you can see, American legislation has not changed or evolved to a higher standard in the early 21st Century. God did not approve of legislative corruption in the past and He does not approve of it now. His character does not change.

The judges are simply stated as “trouble”. They rob the poor, low, afflicted, wretched, and the weak of justice.

The legal system takes advantage of the weakest in society: widows and orphans. Culturally, God calls on the people to take care of orphans and widows. Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do good; seek justice, reprove the ruthless, defend the orphan, plead for the widow.

Woe…

Isaiah 9:6 A Child is Born

Posted in Gospel, Isaiah with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 15, 2013 by paulthepoke

Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

This verse is a chorus in Handel’s Messiah which was written in 1741. The Messiah was written by Handel 24 days.

The verse is prophetic in nature. The first part of the verse, For a child will be born to us, was future to Isaiah. It is the past to us in June of 2013. We know this child to be Jesus as noted in Luke 2:11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

…a son will be given to us…The purpose of the Son is clarified in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. This fact in history has binding results today and into the future. The grammar of the verse (Isaiah 9:6) in Hebrew indicates that the son is given to us, a gift.

…and the government will rest on His shoulders…This event is yet future to us in June 2013 and of course it was future to Isaiah some 700-800 years before the birth of the son. The Hebrew word for government is misrah, according to Strong’s Concordance it could also mean rule or dominion. Translation, He is in charge. Jesus confirms this in His resurrected body in Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth…”

Other references in the Old Testament confirm authority being given to the Son by the Father. Psalm 2 is an excellent example. Specifically verses 6-7 “But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain”. I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You. “

1 Corinthians 15:25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. This is an absolute necessity when one reads this verse in the original Greek New Testament. The word for must is dei. Stated another way, it is necessary. This has to happen.

1 Corinthians 15:26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death. The Bible says there will come a time when there is no more death.
