This Week in Prophecy: Golan Heights; Egyptian Gas Deal; Med Alliance; Silver & Gold

Deuteronomy 4:43b …and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.

This is the first mention of the Golan Heights in the Bible. The term “Golan” is mentioned four times in the Old Testament. Concordances are not sure about the meaning of the word. A possible consideration is from the Hebrew meaning “to roll” or “to encircle,” possibly referring to the rounded hills or the way the area is surrounded by mountains.

Golan is also synonymous with the location of Bashan, home of the giant Og.

Numbers 21:33 Then they turned and went up by the way to Bashan. And Og the king of Bashan came out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

Ezekiel 38:13 Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all its leaders will say to you, ‘Have you come to seize spoil? Have you assembled your hosts to carry off plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to seize great spoil?’

In a video statement alongside Energy Minister Eli Cohen, Netanyahu said that the natural gas deal with Cairo was worth NIS 112 billion ($34.7 billion), of which NIS 58 billion ($18 billion) would go into public coffers. In the first four years, he said, around NIS 500 million ($155 million) would go to the state yearly, and this was expected to climb to NIS 6 billion per year ($1.9 billion) by 2033.

“The agreement is with the American company Chevron, with Israeli partners who will supply gas to Egypt,” Netanyahu said.

Ezekiel 7:19 They cast their silver into the streets, and their gold is like an unclean thing. Their silver and gold are not able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD. They cannot satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it. For it was the stumbling block of their iniquity.

Gold and silver are at ALL TIME highs!!!

There are multiple examples in the Bible, riches will not save you. One cannot purchase their way into Heaven or Eternity with God with earthly riches or precious metals. Only one currency counts, the innocent shed blood of Christ.

Friendly reminder from the Bible, one cannot eat silver or gold. At some point, food will be more valuable than silver and gold.

Ultimately, people will choose precious metals over Jesus Christ and His solution for sin.

Zephaniah 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them on the Day of the LORD’s wrath. The whole earth will be consumed by the fire of His jealousy.” For indeed, He will make a sudden end of all who dwell on the earth.

This Week in Prophecy: Hanukkah Terror, Storm Byron

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Gaza Strip/Philistia, Prophecy, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , on December 16, 2025 by paulthepoke

John 10:22-23 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the colonnade of Solomon.

Jesus celebrated Hanukkah. The Gospel of John indicates his participation.

The event is the Feast of Dedication. And that is exactly what Hanukkah means in the Hebrew language. The city was Jerusalem. The time of the year was winter. The location is the temple, specifically the colonnade of Solomon. Jesus was there walking around the temple.

Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that starts in the ninth month of the Hebrew year, the 25th day. The ninth month is Kislev. The holiday lasts 8 days.

This Gregorian year 2025, the festival runs from Sunday, December 14, 2025 through Monday, December 22, 2025

At this time, let’s introduce the prophet Haggai. The prophet pinpoints a specific time in history. Haggai 1:1 In the second year of Darius the king… The second year of the reign of Darius is 520 BC. Darius was the king of Persia. 520 BC is the year of the writings of Haggai. (Nelson Complete Book of Bible Maps & Charts)

Haggai’s writings pre date the festival of Hanukkah by roughly 350 years. Haggai’s writing begin on Elul 1. This is the beginning of the season of Teshuvah or repentance. He begins with a call to repent.

Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia:

On December 14, 2025, a mass shooting occurred at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach during a public Hanukkah celebration organized by Chabad of Bondi, marking the first night of the Jewish Festival of Lights. The event, held in Archer Park near the beach, featured a giant menorah lighting, free food, and family activities, attracting hundreds of attendees, including Jewish families and beachgoers.

Two gunmen, identified by authorities as a father (aged 50) and son (aged 24), opened fire from an elevated pedestrian bridge overlooking the park around 6:47 p.m. local time. The attack lasted several minutes, with witnesses describing chaos as people fled across the beach.

Casualties: At least 15 people were killed, with dozens injured (reports range from 29 to over 40 hospitalized, including children and police officers). One gunman was killed by police, and the other was critically injured and arrested. Victims included Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a key organizer, as well as international citizens (e.g., French and Israeli nationals).

Australian authorities quickly declared it a terrorist incident, describing it as a targeted antisemitic attack on the Jewish community. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called it “an act of pure evil, antisemitism, and terrorism.” Improvised explosive devices were found in a nearby vehicle and safely removed. -Grok

Psalm 126:1-6 When the LORD restored the captives of Zion, we were like dreamers. Then our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with shouts of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us; we are filled with joy. Restore our captives, O LORD, like streams in the Negev. Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy. He who goes out weeping, bearing a trail of seed, will surely return with shouts of joy, carrying sheaves of grain.

“Al-Aqsa Flood” was the name given by Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups to their coordinated surprise attack on Israel launched on October 7, 2023.

Storm Byron was a powerful winter storm that recently struck the eastern Mediterranean, bringing heavy rains, strong winds, and flooding to Israel and the Gaza Strip.

At least 14 Palestinians, including children, died from causes related to the storm (hypothermia, building collapses, and drowning in floods), according to Gaza’s authorities and reports from Al Jazeera, CNN, and Haaretz.

Humanitarian organizations like the International Organization for Migration warned that nearly 800,000 displaced people were at risk of flooding, with damaged sewage systems raising disease concerns.

Key Impacts on the Negev:

  • Flash Flood Risks: The Israel Meteorological Service issued repeated warnings for flash floods in the Judean Desert streams, Dead Sea area, northern Arava, and northern Negev. Rainfall spread southward, with isolated heavy showers causing runoff in desert channels.
  • Rainfall Amounts: In the western Negev and southern coastal plain, some areas received nearly 100 mm (about 4 inches) in 24–48 hours—roughly half the annual average for these arid regions. This led to rare but intense flooding events.
  • Road Closures and Rescues: Major highways were closed due to flooding, including sections of Route 90 in the Arava (southern Negev extension). Emergency teams conducted rescues in flooded vehicles and lowlands.

Washington, D.C., Hanukkah, December 10, 2020: President Trump announced Morocco has become the fourth country to formalize relations with Israel. Morocco, along with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan, has joined Israel in the Abraham Accords. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu refers to the agreement as the “circle of peace”.

The event occurred on the first day of Hanukkah.

In addition to normalization of relations with Israel, President Trump recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara.

Trump continues to move forward with the peace initiative despite having the disputed election results contested in the Supreme Court.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to Twitter where he posted his comments.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco did not have a formal statement at the time of this post. The king does not have a Twitter account.

Senior White House Adviser Jared Kushner hinted there could be more participants in the Abraham Accords including Saudi Arabia.

John 10:22 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter…

Jesus attended the celebration of Hanukkah at the Temple. In the context of John 10, Jesus would come under fire for claiming to be God. The mob was ready to stone Christ.

John 10:28-30 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

Of note, Jesus uses the word “snatch” two times. This the Greek word ἁρπάζω/harpazó. It means: properly, seize by force; snatch up, suddenly and decisively, like someone seizing bounty (spoil, a prize); to take by an open display of force (i.e. not covertly or secretly). -Helps Word Studies

This is the Greek word for “rapture”. Just an observation. My personal belief is the rapture occurs in and around the Fall Feasts.

But this point is an absolute fact. Believers are secure in the Father and the Son. No one is going to take us away from Them. This is eternal security.

Hanukkah and the Prophet Haggai

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 11, 2017 by paulthepoke

Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that starts in the ninth month of the Hebrew year, the 25th day. The ninth month is Kislev.  The holiday lasts 8 days.

In 2017, the holiday will start at sunset on December 12 and runs through December 20 as followed on a Gregorian calendar.

Hanukkah in the Hebrew means “dedication”. The holiday celebrates the re dedication of the Jewish Temple. The holiday began in roughly the 2nd century before the birth of Jesus Christ. The Maccabean Revolt was led by Judas in 167-160 BC. The revolt kicked Antiochus out of Jerusalem. The Jews recaptured the Temple.

The Jews only had enough oil for one day to relight the menorah. But the oil managed to burn for eight days in the Temple. In memory, Hanukkah is known as the Festival of Lights.

http://www.chabad.org/holidays/chanukah/article_cdo/aid/102911/jewish/What-Is-Hanukkah.htm

Hanukkah is not a God appointed feast holiday. It is not part of the Mosaic Law.

Jesus celebrated Hanukkah. The Gospel of John indicates his participation.

John 10:22-23 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the colonnade of Solomon.

The event is the Feast of Dedication. And that is exactly what Hanukkah means in the Hebrew language. The city was Jerusalem. The time of the year was winter. The location is the temple, specifically the colonnade of Solomon. Jesus was there walking around the temple.

Haggai 1:1b …on the first day of the month…

Of interest is the date referenced three times by Haggai, the twenty fourth day of Kislev. This is the day before the beginning of Hanukkah. Is Haggai alluding to the Festival of Lights?

Haggai 2:10 On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet…

Haggai 2:18 Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid, consider:

Haggai 2:20 Then the word of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying…

Israel is declared a sinful unclean nation by the Lord God.

Haggai 2:14 Then Haggai answered and said, “So is it with this people, and with this nation before me, declares the LORD, and so with every work of their hands. And what they offer there is unclean.

Despite their sin, despite Israel’s rejection of God, despite receiving God’s judgment…God keeps His promises and Israel is His possession.

Haggai 2:19b “…But from this day on I will bless you.” -LORD

The last time this date, twenty fourth day of the month, is mentioned by Haggai, it comes with a prophetic promise to us in the 21st century.

Haggai 2:21-22 “Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I am about to shake the heavens and the earth, and to overthrow the throne of kingdoms. I am about to destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations, and overthrow the chariots and their riders. And the horses and their riders shall go down, everyone by the sword of his brother.”
