This Week in Prophecy: 8/29/22

On This Week in Prophecy… Iraq is breaking down. Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has announced he is stepping down from politics. The result is a violent power grab. The Green Zone is Baghdad is a war zone. The violence is spreading throughout the country. A nationwide curfew has been imposed. The United States appears to be air lifting personnel from their embassy facility within the Green Zone.

Iran and Russia continue to strengthen their economic ties. Both countries have agreed to complete financial transactions with rials and rubles. India, China, and Saudi Arabia have signaled they are willing to complete economic transactions apart from the US Dollar. Other currencies include the yuan and the rupee.

China’s Yangtze River is running dry. Drought and a heat wave is gripping China this summer. Crops do not have water to grow. Pressures continue to mount on food security around the globe. Hydroelectric plants are no longer producing energy.

Floods are devastating Pakistan. Over 1,000 are dead. 33,000,000 people have been affected. Basic provisions of food, water, and shelter have been significantly disrupted.

A regional energy emergency has been declared. Gas prices in the upper Midwest of the United States are going up. A major fire at a refinery has severely affected gas distribution in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The refinery accounts for 20-25% of gas to the four states.

Trend Update: Iran Instead of ISIS, August 2017

August 13, 2017: Recent history is repeating itself again. When one set of terrorists is eliminated, another set of issues will take its place. ISIS is gradually being removed from the current Middle East scenario.

The head of Israel’s Intelligence Agency, Mossad, indicated Iran is taking the territories vacated by ISIS. Mossad is lead by Yossi Cohen. Iran is expanding by proxy in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen. Shia Muslims are replacing Sunni Muslims.

Israel along with President Trump has expressed concern regarding Iranian compliance of the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The JCPOA is the nuclear deal President Obama signed with the Iranians. Iran maintains their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Iran also states they are not developing ballistic missiles that carry nuclear weapons.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel has made it clear. Israel does not follow other international agreements when it comes to the security of the nation.

“Israel will continue to work with determination and in a variety of ways to protect itself from these threats,” stated Netanyahu.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is looking to go to war without approval of the full cabinet. The law comes up for vote before the Knesset in October. The Prime Minister is not confirming or denying the possibility.

For its part, Iranian legislators recently passed a spending bill to increase funding to the nation’s missile program. Some lawmakers chanted “Death to America” with the passing of the program. $260 million was committed to the missile program and the Quds Force. The Quds Force is a military unit deployed in Syria and Iraq.

There are massive natural gas reserves off the coast of Israel in the Mediterranean Sea. They are the Leviathan and Tamar fields.

Chinese peacekeeping troops are more acceptable to Israel because they are not Arab. Israel has been agreeable to Chinese troops to Lebanon in the past. Israel sees Asians as more impartial.

China is looking to join the United Nations peace keeping forces in the Golan Heights. The peacekeeping branch of the UN is called the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

Trend Update: Syria…”All Options Are On The Table”

Isaiah 17:1 The oracle concerning Damascus. “Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city and will become a fallen ruin.”

Sadly, chemical gas attacks on the Syrian population are nothing new in the Syrian civil war.

Ghouta, Syria: Sarin gas was used in 2013 that resulted in the death of over 1,000 citizens. Ghouta is a suburb east of Damascus.

Idlib, Syria: At least 100 people have died from the recent gas attack. Hundreds more have been injured and hospitalized. The attack occurred on April 4, 2017.

Hama, Syria: On March 30, 2017 chlorine gas was used as a chemical weapon in Hama, Syria. The Assad regime of Syria was accused of using chlorine on civilians. Approximately 100 civilians were affected.

Damascus, Syria: Chlorine gas was dispersed in the Al-Qaboun district northeast of Damascus on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

The Assad regime has continually denied the use of chemical weapons during the civil war.

April 6, 2017: The United States military has begun missile strikes near Homs, Syria. Multiple reports from NBC and CNN indicate 50-60 Tomahawk cruise missiles have been fired. President Trump has changed his mind on Syria’s President Assad after the chemical attacks on civilians.

The United States has indicated a coalition of countries is forming to overthrow President Assad of Syria. This past week, the presidents of Egypt and Jordan have visited the White House. It would appear the United States is forming an alliance with Sunni Arab nations south of Syria.

Battle lines are being drawn. Russia is supporting its Shia Muslim countries in the north of the theater with Iran, Syria, and Lebanon (Hezbollah).

Turkey is primarily a Sunni Muslim nation with President Recep Erdogan. He has a big election coming in a couple of weeks. Erdogan has ambitious plans for the region. Turkey is determined to be a player.
