Be Living Water

Trigger warning. Do you see them? The unseen all around you?

So yesterday we did street outreach. Every time I hear these words from women when I offer them food…

“I am starving, I have not eaten in days” or “I have been trying to figure out when I was gonna be able to eat again.”

I hear the almost tears as they say thank you for the food. I continually pray I never forget all those years I was hungry. I was just wanting someone to see me, to see my pain, see my hopelessness, my longing to be cared about. I just wanted my simple humanity to be noticed.

There are times when we all want to slip into crowds unnoticed. But there is still a part of us that deeply longs to be known and seen and cared for. Jesus offers this to believers. Being known by the Creator of the Universe is the most profound “knowing” we could possibly experience.

However, the world around us is full of broken individuals who feel invisible because they don’t yet know Christ. The rest of humanity either ignores them or only sees them when they can be used.

In John Chapter 4, we read the story of Jesus and his conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. The most profound aspect of the story isn’t that Jesus calls her out for being married multiple times. Nor is it that He knows that the man she is currently living with isn’t her husband. What is profound is that He truly knew her. He saw her. Because Jesus was able to see her. When He offered her living water, she believed.

We claim to feel moved by the hurts and sufferings of others. Yet we fail to truly see those who are hurting as individuals. Our efforts to relieve suffering or bring healing fail. Sometimes, such efforts even do more harm.

God doesn’t ask us to take on the world, but to offer the world hope. We are His ambassadors to a hurting world. Being intentional and thoughtful in our interactions can go a long way in offering hope to those in our sphere of influence. What if we open our hearts to Him? Let Him help us see those around us as He does.

Each and every soul on this planet was fearfully and wonderfully made. Each one is a treasure to the One we love most. He is calling us to see them as precious treasures too.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Trend Update: Pestilence, Cholera Spirals in Yemen/Quake off N Korea, July 2017

Posted in Earthquakes/Volcanoes, Pestilence, Prophecy, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 12, 2017 by paulthepoke

Luke 21:11a There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences.

This one verse has it all in today’s news…

July 12, 2017: The country of Yemen is undergoing the worst cholera outbreak in world history. That is the assessment of the United Nations. Yemen is a war torn country of 27 million people on the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. Civil war between Sunni and Shia Muslims continues to rage.

5,000 to 7,000 new cases per day are estimated per the International Committee of the Red Cross. Number of daily cases is up from 2,000 plus just two months ago in May 2017.

In May 2017, experts estimated at least 150,000 cases were expected over the next six months. As of July 2017, there are over 320,000 cases reported. Numbers were actually underestimated. 1,700 plus deaths have occurred in the last couple of months.

Cholera is the result of poor sanitation, untreated water and food, and dysentery. Cholera is a vicious cycle of disease that spreads easily and quickly among the masses.

As a result of war, infrastructure is breaking down to the point of collapse. Clean water is not available. Trash men are on strike.

The United Nations is cutting back on food and focusing on the epidemic. Food supplies have been cut off from the populous. Hunger and malnutrition are spreading throughout the country.

Over half of the hospitals have been damaged and destroyed. Medical supplies are limited and new supplies have been affected by war and supply chains. Up to six children are sharing a hospital bed. Trained medical staff is in short supply. Local medical professionals have gone without pay for 10 months. Vaccines for cholera have been suspended due to the condition of war.

The United Nations estimates 14.5 to 19 million people have been impacted.

There will be great earthquakes…

kim-jong-un-binocularsA deep 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of North Korea today. The quake was estimated to be 600 km into the earth. That energy is going to release somewhere closer to the surface. Don’t be surprised if 7.0 or greater is just around the corner…

Millennial Kingdom: Ending Hunger

Posted in Millennial Kingdom, Prophecy with tags , , , , , , , , , , on January 24, 2016 by paulthepoke

Genesis 3:17b-19 …Cursed is the ground because of you; in toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; and you will eat the plants of the field; by the sweat of your face you will eat bread, till you return to the ground, because from it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.

In the Millennial Kingdom, the Genesis curse will be reversed. Adam’s choice to eat the forbidden fruit resulted in a curse to the ground. Because of this, we have weeds and thorns. Food does not grow as plentiful as intended. Acquisition of food is by hard, laborious work and effort. Sweat was not originally intended. Sweat is a consequence of the fall in Eden.

In Romans, the Apostle Paul confirms the earth is still under the curse even though Christ has died for sin. The fact we still have thorns and thistles on plant life confirms the ongoing curse. Check out a rose or a cactus. They are reminders of the fall of man. The land has yet to be freed from bondage. The redemptive and liberating event remains in the future as of 2016 AD.

Romans 8:19-22 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

Here is a glimpse into the future. The Bible describes what agricultural production will be during the Millennial Kingdom under Jesus Christ.

Zechariah 8:12 For there will be peace for the seed: the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its produce…

The Hebrew word for “peace” is Shalom. Per Strong’s Concordance, it means: peace, quiet, tranquility, contentment, welfare, health, prosperity; completeness (in number); safety, soundness (in body).

The seeds of plants and trees will no longer face a hostile soil or earth. They will grow in a safe and tranquil environment, free to grow to their potential.

Ezekiel 36:29b-30 …and I will call for the grain and multiply it, and I will not bring a famine on you. I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the produce of the field, so that you will not receive again the disgrace of famine among the nations.

Joel 2:22b … for the open pastures are becoming green. The trees are bearing their fruit; the fig-tree and the vine yield their riches.

Joel 2:24 The threshing floors will be full of grain, and the vats will overflow with the new wine and oil.

Isaiah 30:23b …and bread from the yield of the ground, and it will be rich and plenteous…

Say goodbye to commercials with starving children. Jesus will end hunger once and for all.
