Please… Quake Marks the Spot

Revelation 8:5 Then the angel took the censer and filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it to the earth; and there followed peals of thunder and sounds and flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

Revelation 11:13 And in that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Revelation 11:19 And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.

Revelation 16:18 And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty.

 

This set of quakes takes place seven years before the Millennial Kingdom. Geography and geology are going to change for planet Earth. Each earthquake will increase with regard to intensity. The first quake in Revelation 6:12 moves mountains and islands out of their place. A seismic chain of reaction is started. Additional quakes will facilitate further land mass movement. The land we live on floats on molten lava and magma. The last quake in Revelation 16:18 will be the greatest in the history of man.

A pattern emerges with earthquakes in the book of Revelation. Earthquakes mark the end of each set of judgments (seals, trumpets, and bowls). The first earthquake in Revelation 6:12 is the sixth seal. The quake in Revelation 8:5 occurs before the beginning of the trumpet judgments. It is the seventh seal. The earthquake in Revelation 11:13 marks the sixth trumpet of seven. The quake in Revelation 11:19 is the seventh trumpet before the bowl judgments. The last earthquake in Revelation 16:18 marks the end of the seven bowl judgments.

In addition to the quake activity, imagine the collateral events associated. It is plausible to imagine significant volcanic eruptions which spew dust, ash, steam, and gases into the atmosphere. Tsunamis are highly likely. Breathing is going to be difficult.

Joel 2:30-31 I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, blood, fire and columns of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.

 

Revelation 11:13… Jerusalem is the city referenced. Today in 2018, Jerusalem’s population is estimated to be around 874,000+. The verse states a tenth of city’s infrastructure is destroyed. 7,000 people are prophesied to die in this earthquake.

This earthquake is also the exclamation point for the resurrection of the two witnesses of Revelation 11. People refuse to bury these two guys after they are killed by the antichrist. They are left to rot as an example. The citizens of Earth are throwing a party in honor of their death.

Please… Judgment is Coming

Judgment is coming. The seven-year period of tribulation will be marked by spiritual deception, world war, economic upheaval, famine, disease, asteroids, extreme weather, and on and on and on…

Jesus said it best.

Matthew 24:21-22 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

The context of the set of verses in Revelation 6 is the initial third of the Tribulation, the seals. This event takes place approximately 7 years before the beginning of Christ’s Kingdom. Granted, there appears to be significant issues with the sun, moon, stars, atmosphere and sky in this context. But, the focus of the section is the geological and geographical changes coming to planet Earth.

The earthquake starts the chain of events in the sixth seal. The quake is described as “great” or μεγασ/megas in the Greek. It can be translated as significant, severe, gigantic, or YUGE (huge) per Strong’s Concordance. This earthquake will be a big deal.

Revelation 6:14 The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

…and every mountain and island were moved out of their places… This is exactly what the verse says in the Greek. “Every” mountain and island will be moved out of its place. Each, every, the whole, all of them are moved.

The root word for “moved” is κινεο/kineo. It can also be translated: to cause to go, to move, set in motion. Figuratively, it will cause a commotion (NET Bible/Strong’s Concordance).

This verse is suggesting tectonic plate movement and change across the planet. The earthquake will knock things out of their place. Consider all of the mountain ranges in the world: The Rockies, Andes, Urals, Alps, Himalayas… Consider all of the islands in the world…

Recent history has not seen an earthquake that has caused continents to initiate movement and drifting. Modern day maps and globes will be obsolete.

Revelation 6:15 Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;

God does not care how deep your bunker is. God does not care how much you have prepared. God does not care if you are the leader of a country. Military training will not save you. He does not care how much money and wealth one has acquired. Your intellect is no match for the Lamb, Jesus. It does not matter if you are isolated. A piece of advice to the social elite, you can run but you cannot hide.

Revelation 6:16 and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb…”

Be careful what you wish for. God will give you what you want. Revelation 16:20 beckons.

Trend Update: Blood Red Rain, Norilsk, Russia, July 2018

Revelation 16:4 Then the third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of waters; and they became blood.

July 2018: Red rain is falling from the sky in Norilsk, Russia. This is the city’s second blood red water event in the last couple of years.

Norilsk, Russia is home to the Nadezhda Metallurgical Factory. The factory is run by Norilsk Nickel. This is the world’s largest producer of nickel and palladium.

Relax, local officials indicated this event is not reason for concern or health risk. Officials from the metallurgical plant indicated the event was caused by dust accumulated on the roof of a plant shop. This is not an incident of pollution. The rain washed the dust off the plant and caused the red rain… allegedly.

Norilsk, Russia has made Time Magazine’s most polluted places in the world. The following is from Time.

Norilsk was founded in 1935 as a Siberian slave labor camp, and life there has pretty much gone downhill since. Home to the world’s largest heavy metal smelting complex, more than 4 million tons of cadmium, copper, lead, nickel, arsenic, selenium and zinc are released into the air every year. Air samples exceed the maximum allowance for both copper and nickel, and mortality from respiratory diseases is much higher than in Russia as a whole. “Within 30 miles (48 km) of the nickel smelter there’s not a single living tree,” says Fuller. “It’s just a wasteland.” –Bryan Walsh, Time Magazine.

With 3 blood red water events, Russia has taken a commanding lead against the rest of the world. The closest competitors only have one event held by several other countries.

Trend Update: Blood Red Parana River Delta, Argentina, May 2018

May 29, 2018: Experts in Argentina are clueless. What caused the Parana River Delta to turn blood red??? An algae bloom has been ruled out! Pollution has been suspected. Stay away from the water until conclusive test results have been obtained.

Specifically, the river is located in Tigre, Argentina near Buenos Aires.

Revelation: Laodicea, Please…Please Listen

Revelation 3:22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

All seven churches in the book of Revelation are told… “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” This is the last time Jesus addresses the churches. It is an open invitation to whoever wants to listen. We all have ears. Please use them.

Please… “Hear” or ακουο/akouo… This is where we get the English word “acoustics”. The word can mean the following: attend; consider what is or has been said; to understand or perceive the sense of what is said; to find out, learn; to give ear to a teaching or a teacher; to comprehend. Definitions provided by Strong’s Concordance.

Seven times, the body of Christ is addressed. Each individual church (Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea) is told. Each single, local church is encouraged to proclaim to the whole body. Please listen.

Revelation 2:7a He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches…

Revelation 2:17a He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches…

Please…respond to what the Lord God is saying. There is time now. At some point, conditions are going to deteriorate. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit do not want to crush mankind like a bug. An out into a glorious eternity will be offered. Jesus is not going to give up on people when the going gets tough. He will continue to plea and reach out, even when things turn ugly. The call will be to all of humanity on Earth at this future time.

Revelation 13:9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear:

 

The next time Christ will make His plea, it will be during the context of the beast or the antichrist. The beast will be physically present on Earth during his reign. In this time, the beast will be in absolute authority, tyranny. The antichrist will demand to be worshipped or one will pay with their earthly, flesh and blood life.

Revelation 13:7-8 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation, all who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain.

 

The choice for the believer in Jesus will be scary and grim for their present life. The focus will need to be on eternity with God in spite of their earthly circumstances.

Revelation 13:10 If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.

 

Treacherous times are coming. Get over yourself. Don’t think you are immune to deception.

Matthew 24:24 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

Revelation: Laodicea, Conquering through Christ

Revelation 3:21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

The point bears repeating. Christ repeats Himself multiple times in addressing believers. We overcome through Jesus Christ. He is victorious and by Him we are conquerors. Seventeen (17) times in the book of Revelation the word “overcome” or the Greek νικάω/nikaó is used.  Eight (8) times He uses the word with regard to addressing the churches in Revelation. Every time νικάω/nikaó is written to the seven churches in Revelation, we are reminded that our victory is perpetual into eternity. This is not a one-time victory. Believers are forever conquering because of Jesus Christ. We are victorious and prevail through Him. We have ridiculous assurance. Jesus Christ is the answer.

1 John 5:4-5 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. The Apostle Paul states believers are “hyper” conquerors through Jesus!

I will grant him to sit with me on my throne… As believers and overcomers, we will rule and reign with Jesus Christ. Believers will be appointed to authority. Believers will be political rulers in the future Millennial Kingdom. This is not an honorary position. He says so. This concept is stated repeatedly in Scripture. Even in the Old Testament, David made this statement 1,000 years before the birth of Jesus. The author of Hebrews quoted the Psalmist in Hebrews 2.

Psalm 8:4-6 …what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet…

1 Timothy 2:12 …if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.

 

…as I also conquered… This is the last time Jesus uses the word νικάω/nikaó within the context of the seven churches in Revelation. It is a reminder; He is the conqueror. Christ prevailed and that is an established fact of history.

 

…and sat down with my Father on his throne. Notice the chain of command and structure with rulership. It starts with God the Father. The Father hands authority to the Son. And the Son shares it with believers who are in Him. Believers will rule and reign with Jesus Christ in the Millennial Kingdom and into eternity.

Revelation: Laodicea, Answer the Door

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Behold… Translation: Look, listen, see, pay attention!

I stand at the door and knock. Jesus is on the front porch of your place. The grammar in the Greek indicates He has always been there. He has not left and He is not going anywhere. Christ is at the ready. The text states He continually knocks on your door. He has fixed Himself waiting for the individual to respond.

Anyone… The invitation is open to anyone. It is the will of God that all would turn to Him. Please respond to Him. He is beyond tolerant and accommodating.

 

 

 

 

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

 

If anyone hears my voice and opens the door… It is not enough to just listen to Jesus. One needs to respond with action. Let Him into your life and heart. He says He will reciprocate.

 

I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

Christ will have relationship with the individual over a meal. Yes, He will meet you at your place. He will eat with you and you can eat with Him.

 

Matthew 24:33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that He is near, at the very gates.

James 5:9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.

At some point, His patience will end. Turn to His mercy, grace, and forgiveness. Answer the door.

Revelation: Laodicea, Christ’s Love

Revelation 3:19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.

Φιλέω/phileó is the Greek word for “love”. It means: love (of friendship), regard with affection, cherish; I kiss (Strong’s Concordance). Jesus regards believers with a warm and deep affinity. There is a sense of harmony.

Christ loves us so much He is willing to reprove and discipline.

Reprove or ἐλέγχω/elegcho can also be translated as: reprove, rebuke, discipline; expose, show to be guilty.

Discipline or παιδεύω/paideuó can mean: I discipline, educate, train; more severely: I chastise.

Jesus is willing to reveal and uncover your issues. He will find us all to be guilty. If necessary, we will be trained like a child. Heaven forbid in severe cases, Christ is willing to reprimand and censure the believer.

The theme of God’s discipline is consistent across time in Scripture. He is not being mean. Correction is for our own good. As a reminder, He loves us…

Deuteronomy 8:5 Thus you are to know in your heart that the LORD your God was disciplining you just as a man disciplines his son.

1 Corinthians 11:32 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.

As a result of discipline, the believer should have a response.

…be zealous…This is the Greek word ζηλόω/zéloó. This is where we get the English word “zealous”. HELPS Word Studies provides an excellent definition and example.

Imitating the sound of boiling water; to bubble over because so boiling hot; figuratively to burn with zeal (J. Thayer); to be deeply committed to something, with the implication of accompanying desire; to be earnest, to set one’s heart on, to be completely intent upon.

Christ is imploring us to boil with passion for Him and His word.

 

…repent…This is not a mystical, spiritual word with a deeper theological meaning. The Greek word for repent is μετανοεο/metanoeo. It means: to change one’s mind for better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one’s past sins. -Strong’s Concordance

The idea of repent in the Hebrew is teshuvah. Prepare and turn to God. People are called to turn away from their sin, repent, and change course. It is a time of inward reflection and sincere self-assessment. The goal is a change in lifestyle away from sin to obedience in God’s word. The Hebrew month of Elul initiates a 40-day period called Teshuvah.

One should be ashamed of their actions. There should be real conviction. Be honest. Right is right and wrong is wrong. We can all do better.

Consider the path you are taking. Is a change of heart and mind necessary?

Revelation: Laodicea, Real Vision

Revelation 3:18c…and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.

Jesus is taking a direct shot at man-made medicine.

The locals at the church in Laodicia had access to best medical care in the known world. The worship of the medicine god Aesculpius took place throughout the region of what is modern day Turkey. The temple of Men Karou was located near Laodicea. This was a famous medical school. Phrygian powder was a medicine for the eyes that was produced locally.

The world offered powder. Documents did not indicate the powder was a cure for blindness.

 

Jesus was offering a salve to rub in their eyes. And He has a purpose.

…that you may see… This is the Greek word βλέπω/blepó. This is more than physically seeing. It is also about discernment, awareness, and perception.

This is not the first time Christ rubbed something in somebody’s eyes. One man was born blind. This miracle caused all sorts of issues. The miracle was performed by Jesus on the Sabbath. Faith and reality for the Pharisees were called into question. The origin of Jesus was a consideration. Peer pressure and social status were on the line.

John 9:6-7 When He had said this, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam ” (which is translated, Sent). So he went away and washed, and came back seeing.

 

And Jesus can make adjustments if necessary. Glasses, contacts, and laser surgery are not necessary. Some would argue, Jesus corrected the neurological disorder of visual agnosia. The condition is an impairment in recognition of visually presented objects. Visual agnosia occurs when there is brain damage along the pathways that connect the occipital lobe of the brain with the parietal and temporal lobes. The occipital lobe assembles incoming visual information. The parietal and temporal lobes allow you to understand the meaning of this information.

Mark 8:23-25 And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

 

Man made powder or some spit and dirt from the Creator??? Jesus is offering physical vision and spiritual insight.

Revelation: Laodicea, Choose Heavenly Garments

Revelation 3:18b …and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen…

Jesus is recommending “white garments”. This is a priestly garment. The term for garment in the Greek is ἱμάτιον/himation. The garment is a long flowing outer tunic, cloak, or robe (Strong’s Concordance). The color white is indicative of purity.

Heavenly, priestly garments are made of linen. Exodus 28 gives instructions for the priestly garments. The clothing for the priest is to be made of linen. Exodus 28:5 They shall take the gold and the blue and the purple and the scarlet material and the fine linen. The concept is stated seven more times in Exodus 28. Priestly garments are of linen (Exodus 28:6, 8, 15, 39, 39, 42).

Laodicea was a prominent textile producer. It was world famous for its black wool. (Holman Bible Dictionary).

The culture had infiltrated the church with worldly materialism.

The church in Laodicea and locals were proud of their earthly, wool clothing. As opposed to the white garments Christ was offering, Laodicea loved their black clothing.

 

…you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen…

The locals needed clothes because they were naked. This church thinks they have the finest of clothes. They are hip and trendy.

Job 26:6 Naked is Sheol before Him, and Abaddon has no covering. 

The meaning of Abaddon is “destruction”. Sin and destruction are both naked. Sin is naked before God. In the final analysis, there is no covering of sin apart from the cross work of Christ. God has always made provision for the sin of humanity. Apart from God, sin will be exposed, bare, and raw. Sin’s path leads to destruction.

Proverbs 15:11 Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD, how much more the hearts of men!

Like Adam and Eve in the garden, the church at Laodicea had an earthly solution for their covering. The Lord has a Heavenly solution with priestly linen. Christ has done the work.

Jesus says they need to cover themselves.  Sin is embarrassing.
