Trend Update: Saudi Crown Prince Declares War on Terror, November 2017

Daniel 11:40 At the time of the end, the king of the south shall attack him…

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has declared war on terrorism. The king in waiting has promised to “wipe terrorists from the face of the earth”.

“Beyond the killing of innocent people and the spread of hatred, terrorism and extremism distort the image of our religion.” -Mohammed bin Salman (MBS)

The prince (MBS) is the Saudi Defense Minister. MBS founded the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition in 2015. Some have dubbed this group as the “Arab NATO”. There are 41 countries that comprise the coalition. The group is primarily a Sunni Muslim organization. Some of the countries included are Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Uganda, Somalia, Mauritania, Lebanon, Libya, Yemen and Turkey. Excluded is the Shia country Iran and its allies from Iraq and Syria.

IMCT

The purpose of the alliance is to “mobilize and coordinate the use of resources, facilitate the exchange of information and help member countries build their own counter-terrorism capacity.” Pakistani General Raheel Sharif, Commander in Chief.

Granted, MBS is not a king at this time. He is promised to be the next king of Saudi Arabia. Multiple stories have emerged stating he is to be appointed king any day.

The crown prince has found favor with the United States and President Donald Trump. The Saudis have recently signed a $110 billion arms agreement to modernize their military.

mbs

Mohammed bin Salman is the youngest Defense Minister in the world at age 32. MBS is also in charge of the country’s oil industry. Self-control and temperament are considerations. He is known as a military hawk. He has already engaged in a war of words with Iran. MBS is strongly opposed to the expansion of the Shia brand of Islam supported by Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

For their part, Iran sees the young crown prince and his leadership group as “idiots”.

“We are a primary target for the Iranian regime…We won’t wait for the battle to be in Saudi Arabia. Instead, we’ll work so that the battle is for them in Iran,” Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi king in waiting.

Is the crown prince the promised king of the South per Daniel 11:40? He has recently consolidated his power. MBS arrested family members along with local authorities in the name of government corruption. At age 32, it appears bin Salman is going to be around for a while. MBS does merit our attention considering the times we live.

Time will tell…

Tribulation: Temple or Tabernacle Tent, Part 3

Posted in Prophecy, Temple with tags , , , , , , , , on May 26, 2016 by paulthepoke

The answer to the question…Is a “temple” necessary for the tribulation? Would a tent of meeting structure or tabernacle work? The antichrist is going to defile something.

Daniel 11:31 Forces from him will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation.

The focus of this post is the Hebrew word for sanctuary.

The Hebrew word for “sanctuary” is miqdash: sacred place, sanctuary, holy place; of the temple or of the tabernacle. Strong’s Concordance.

This term miqdash allows for either a tabernacle/tent or temple in the end times scenario.

The Hebrew word for “fortress” is ma`owz: place or means of safety, protection, refuge, stronghold, fastness, or harbor. Figuratively it is a refuge of God or human protection.

A physical, structural “ma`owz” type fortress is possible. This could be a temple campus consistent with the structure during the time of Jesus’ first coming. Figuratively, God is a refuge. His ma`owz or provision and strength could allow for a tabernacle/tent structure in an end times scenario.

Revelation 11:1-2 Then there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, “Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship in it. Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months.

The Temple in Revelation 11 is during the Tribulation. In both cases in verses 1-2, naos is used. The specific term naos is referring to the Holy Place, those who worship in it. “Those” is plural. If it were singular, the naos would be the Holy of Holies for the High Priest.

2 Thessalonians 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God.

The Greek term for temple is naos.

Both a tabernacle/tent-like structure and a stone temple structure are possible in the tribulation scenario. Personally, I would lean towards a temple of stone and mortar complete with all the furnishings. The Temple Institute has the materials ready to go for stone structure. The locals are not talking about raising a tent. Political pressure is building for a Temple complex.

Do your own homework. Make your own decision.

Scripture tells us the antichrist will defile the inner sanctuary or the holy place. The issue is the antichrist defiles the most sacred area. He is going to violate Jewish Law. He is not a priest let alone a High Priest. He has a side kick, the false prophet for religious duties. The antichrist is a political dictator. The area impacted…naos in the New Testament, miqdash ma`owz in the Old Testament.

Big mistake…

Tribulation: Temple or Tabernacle Tent, Part 2

Is a “temple” necessary for the tribulation? Would a tent of meeting structure or tabernacle work? After all, the antichrist needs something to defile.

2 Thessalonians 2:4 …who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

Daniel 11:31 Forces from him will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation.

See also Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15-16, Mark 13:14.

There are two Greek words in the New Testament used for the term “temple”. The meanings of the two terms are distinct and different from each other. The two Greek words are hieron and naos.

The focus of this post is the Greek term naos.

Naos: Used of the temple at Jerusalem, but only of the sacred edifice or sanctuary itself; consisting of the Holy place and the Holy of Holies (in classical Greek it is used of the sanctuary or cell of the temple). Where the image of gold (Ark of the Covenant) was placed which is distinguished from the whole enclosure. Strong’s Concordance

ark of covenant

Naos designates the sacred edifice consisting of two parts. The first is the sanctuary or Holy Place. Only priests were allowed to enter this area. The second is Holy of Holies or the most holy place. Only the High Priest was allowed to enter on the Day of Atonement.

Naos: a shrine or sanctuary. Naos among the Jews was the sanctuary in the Temple or hieron.

Examples of a priest entering the temple (naos in the Greek) are Luke 1:9, 21-22according to the custom of the priestly office, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. The people were waiting for Zacharias, and were wondering at his delay in the temple. But when he came out, he was unable to speak to them; and they realized that he had seen a vision in the temple; and he kept making signs to them, and remained mute. Zacharias was the high priest. This would be in accordance with the Law.

Jesus did not enter the temple or naos. His teaching was in the court of the temple or hieron. It would have been illegal for Jesus to enter the naos. If He would have, He would have been a sinner. Jesus is of the line of Judah. Hebrews 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.

The Greek word naos is used in two other contexts in the New Testament. One is for the Heavenly Temple. The second is for our physical body.

Revelation 11:19a And the temple of God which is in heaven was opened; and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple…

1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?

There are two Greek words in the New Testament used for the term “temple”. The meanings of the two terms are distinct and different from each other. The two Greek words are hieron and naos.

The focus of this post is the Greek term hieron.

Hieron: A sacred place, temple. Strong’s Concordance

The temple of Jerusalem consisted of the whole of the sacred enclosure, embracing the entire aggregate of buildings, balconies, porticos, courts (that is that of the men of Israel, that of the women, and that of the priests), belonging to the temple. This would be the term hieron.

The courts are the location for the teaching of Jesus and the apostles. All people had access to the court where Jesus taught. John 7:14 But when it was now the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and began to teach.

Luke 21:38 And all the people would get up early in the morning to come to Him in the temple to listen to Him.

This is where confrontations with adversaries occurred “in the temple”. Matthew 4:5 Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple…

John 8:59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple.

The hieron is where Jesus drove the buyers and sellers and the money changers out of the temple.    Mark 11:15 Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves…

It is also the location of the court of the women or the middle court. Luke 21:1-2 And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins.

Hieron is used as a noun: a sacred place, a temple; signifying the entire building with its precincts, or some part thereof, as distinct from the naos: the inner sanctuary. Hieron is never used figuratively.

The term hieron is the primary context of Jesus and the apostles. The antichrist is not observed in the context of the term hieron.
