Red Heifer Update: Heifer Ashes & Spring Water Purification Practice

Numbers 19:5-6 And the heifer shall be burned in his sight. Its skin, its flesh, and its blood, with its dung, shall be burned. And the priest shall take cedarwood and hyssop and scarlet yarn, and throw them into the fire burning the heifer.

First of all, as many Christians are acutely aware, animal sacrifices for sin are no longer required. However, these things are still prophesied. After all, the antichrist needs a Temple to defile.

To be clear, the red heifer is the symbol or type. Jesus Christ is the real deal, the fulfillment.

Samaria, Israel: Purification practice with heifer ashes and spring water mixture.

The ritual preparation of the red heifer follows precise steps laid out in the Bible and further elaborated by the Sages. The completely red cow, which must never have had a yoke placed upon it, is slaughtered and burned entirely—hide, flesh, blood, and dung—along with cedar wood, hyssop, and crimson thread. The ashes are then collected and mixed with spring water to create the mei niddah (waters of separation). This mixture is used in a specific sprinkling ritual: a kohen dips a bundle of hyssop into the water and sprinkles it on the impure person on the third and seventh days of their purification period. Only after this double sprinkling and the passage of seven days can someone defiled by contact with death enter the Temple precincts.

We do have a clarification regarding the remaining four heifers per the Berkowitz article from Israel 365 News.

The four remaining red heifers from Texas remain in Shiloh, their status as potential candidates for the actual ritual still intact despite the controversy.

This also appears to be a reversal from August 2025 when the Temple Institute announced all 5 heifers to be disqualified.

https://israel365news.com/411214/temple-institute-announces-all-texas-red-heifers-disqualified

Apparently one of the cows from Texas had warts on its neck and a broken tail which disqualified it as a perfect sacrifice.

It would appear the sacrificial burning event in July 2025 was a practice trial.

Heifer burning practice started back in August of 2019.

Which brings us to a video from January 2026 at Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz YouTube Channel

Larry Borntrager is a non-Jew who has been caring for the red heifers in Shiloh. On July 1, one of the red heifers was burned in Samaria. As the heifers do not have ear tags or brands, they can only be identified by someone who knows them intimately, and the only person who does is Larry. Some people claim that the cow with an injured and shortened tail was intended for the practice burning, but refused to get onto the truck. These people claim that a “perfect cow” boarded the truck instead, and that the practice of burning was actually kosher, using a cow suited for the red heifer ceremony. Larry explains which cow is missing and what was its status.

The innocent, shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross is the fulfillment of forgiveness and the release from sin.

Hebrews 9:22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

As the red heifer was and will be again sacrificed outside the city limits of Jerusalem, so was Jesus Christ. As the sacrifice of the red heifer is for the purification and consecration of the people of Israel, so was and is Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 13:12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.

Christ’s sacrifice is not only for the people of Israel, but for all the people of the world. He is the sacrifice for all sin for all time.

1 John 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Cleanse the House… Joshua of Ghana

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Joshua Ghana with tags , , , , , , , , , on January 11, 2022 by paulthepoke

TEXT: LEVITICUS 14:33-57

Leviticus 14:52 “And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet.”

Hyssop is a protected plant in Israel. It is a small, hardy shrub from the basil family. It is said to have cleansing properties. The hyssop plant in the Bible symbolizes spiritual purification.

Certain rituals were performed to cleanse any house leprosy was found in the Old Testament. First, the house is shut up for seven days. After this period, the house is checked. If the house had signs of leprosy spreading, the entire house had to be pulled down. But if the disease did not spread, then the house was healed. The priest then performed a ceremony for cleansing the house which involved two live birds, cedar, hyssop, scarlet and running water from a river. One of the birds was killed over the basin of water and the cedar, hyssop and the living bird was dipped into the water and the house was sprinkled with it, after which the living bird was set free.

Leprosy represents sin because it has the capacity to spread from the heart into every part of the body. The heart represents the house where the leprosy originates; for from the heart proceeds all evil thoughts which the entire body is compelled to act upon. The product of this process can be found in people’s harsh speeches, immoral actions, violent behaviors, wickedness and the likes.

Cleansing has to begin from the heart. Nothing so far has been found effective in achieving total cleansing for the sinful heart of man. Religious ceremonies and rituals, together with human efforts have unfortunately yielded no results. The only solution to the ‘leprosy’ of sin lies in the precious blood of our sinless Christ who died on the cross to save humanity.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The blood of Jesus is the all-time antidote to all forms of uncleanness.

Passover: Blood on the Door Posts

Exodus 12:22 Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. None of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.

Hyssop is a plant used for medicinal and religious purposes. Symbolically, hyssop is like bleach for sin. The plant is required for ceremonial cleanliness when a person came in contact with dead bodies or dead animals.

The context of Exodus 12 tells us the Passover Lamb was previously sacrificed. Each household was to butcher their own lamb. Each lamb was sacrificed by the front door of the house.

Blood from the animal was collected in the basin. The Hebrew word for “basin” is caph. The word can be defined and utilized a couple of different ways in the Old Testament. The word comes from the term caphaph. Another translation could be “threshold”. The word is primarily translated as basin, threshold, or door in the Old Testament.

In either case, the term implies the sacrifice likely took place near the front door or threshold where the blood could be collected in a basin.

Blood stained hyssop was painted on the lintel or the top of the door. Then, blood was painted on the doorposts. Again, the blood comes from the basin or container.

John 10:9 I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

Jesus Christ is the door. His body is the basin that holds the shed blood. Jesus is the Lamb of God. He is the sacrificed paschal lamb.

Christ’s crown of thorns is the brushed blood on the lintel of the door. He is the shed blood on the doorposts with His outstretched arms on the cross. His feet were pierced with nails to the cross. A Roman soldier thrust a spear in His side to confirm His death.

Believers in Him are redeemed and purchased with that blood.

Romans 3:25 God presented Him as the atoning sacrifice through faith in His blood, in order to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand.

~

Notice, the people are inside the house and they are instructed to stay inside until the next morning. The LORD does not see the sinful people inside the structure. The LORD sees the shed blood of the Passover Lamb.

Exodus 12:23 For the LORD will pass through to strike the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you.

Passover: Hyssop

Exodus 12:22 You shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until morning.

Hyssop is used in the directions of the Passover celebration for the Israelites.

The Hebrew word for hyssop is ‘ezowb. Per Strong’s Concordance it is a plant used for medicinal and religious purposes.

Many conjectures have been formed as to what this plant really was. Some contend that it was a species of marjoram (origanum), six species of which are found in Palestine. Others with more probability think that it was the caper plant, the Capparis spinosa of Linnaeus. This plant grew in Egypt, in the desert of Sinai, and in Palestine. It was capable of producing a stem three or four feet in length. -NET Bible

Psalms 51:7 Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Hyssop is like bleach for sin. Purify or chata’ in the Hebrew means: to bear loss; to make a sin-offering; to purify from sin; to purify from uncleanness.

Numbers 19:18 A clean person shall take hyssop and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the furnishings and on the persons who were there, and on the one who touched the bone or the one slain or the one dying naturally or the grave.

Hyssop is required for ceremonial cleanliness when a person came in contact with dead bodies or dead animals. Cleanliness kept the Israelite from being cut off from the assembly.

Leviticus 14:52 He shall thus cleanse the house with the blood of the bird and with the running water, along with the live bird and with the cedar wood and with the hyssop and with the scarlet string.

Another example of ritual cleaning involves the use of hyssop in a leprous house. Hyssop is involved in the law of leprosy (Leviticus 14:33-57).

Jesus Christ’s work on the cross is our purification for sin. John 1:29 Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!  Jesus is the sacrificial paschal lamb. Christ’s crown of thorns is the brushed blood on the lintel of the door. He is the shed blood on the doorposts with His outstretched arms on the cross.

John 19:29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.

1 John 1:7b … and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
