Straight Talk, Access Spiritual Light… Rodna Epley

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Rodna Epley with tags , , , , , , on May 15, 2019 by paulthepoke

This transforming “light” is the glory of the Father which resides within each of us upon putting our faith in Christ but it lies dormant (we are blind to it even as believers) until we know that it is in us. When we know…our eyes begin to open and we can see from within in a way the world can’t see. We know things we aren’t supposed to know from the world’s perspective. Yet we are supposed to know them from the Father’s perspective.

In John 11:1-7, after Jesus learned Lazarus was sick, He waited 2 days to make sure he died so that the glory of God would be revealed in Him (in Christ) by raising Lazarus from the dead.

Sometimes God waits until we think the worst has happened and there’s no turning back before He sends His answer by telling us He can turn it back, so that His full glory will be revealed in any given situation. Don’t ever think death (or sleep) is the end of anything. God will wake that person up if you trust in Him to do so and cause all who witness to believe in Him. Nothing is impossible for our God and for those who are in Christ.

Jesus said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.” The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, lately the Jews sought to stone You, and are You going there again?” Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. “But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” (John 11:8-10)

Because the light is not in him – that’s why he stumbles. Not because it’s dark outside. But because he’s spiritually blind. There’s no light in him. When Christians stumble too it’s because no light is in him – same as the world. Sight isn’t automatic even upon putting our trust in Christ. God’s glory must be awakened from lying dormant within us. The potential for sight is always there. But our eyes still must be opened. So the Holy Spirit is teaching us all things.

“Awake, O sleeper, arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” (Ephesians 5:14, ESV)

Activity Heating Up in the Persian Gulf, May 2019

Ezekiel 38:5 Persia, Ethiopia and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet…

Russia will be joined by several countries with their future invasion of Israel (Ezekiel 38-39). One of those countries will be Persia. The country was known as Persia until the name change in the 20th century. This is modern day Iran…

Rouhani & Putin

Iran is getting more cozy with Russia when it comes to military ties. With activity increasing in the Persian Gulf, Russia and Iran are planning military exercises. Russia is the primary source of military hardware for Iran. A United Nations (UN) arms embargo is set to expire in 2020. This expiration is likely to result in more military equipment transferring from Russia to Iran. The Iranians have requested SU-30 and SU-35 fighter jets, Yakovlev Yak-130 light fighters, MI-8 and MI-17 helicopters, T-90 tanks, and the Bastion mobile coastal defense missile system.

In mid April 2019, the United States, France, and Britain held Artemis Trident 19 exercise in the Persian Gulf. President Trump recently declared Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

At the center of the discussion is oil. Iran has threatened to close off the Straits of Hormuz. The United States has imposed sanctions on Iranian oil exports. On Sunday, 5/12/19, two oil shipments destined for the United States were noted with “significant damage” near the United Arab Emirates.

President Trump is reportedly considering 120,000 troops to the Middle East. At least 6+ unnamed Defense Department Officials indicated this plan was presented to President Trump late Monday, 5/13/19.

Esther 1:13 Then the king said to the wise men who knew the times (for this was the king’s procedure toward all who were versed in law and judgment…)

Risk has entered the market place. Metrics from John Hussman indicate the market may be heading for a wild ride. Metrics from Hussman’s work indicate the same levels of risk from the Dot Com Bubble and the late 1920’s. Rumors of trade wars and tariffs are in the news. Michael Douville posted this on his website and YouTube on 5/9/19.

5/13/19: The Dow Jones was down 617 points or 2.38%, NASDAQ was 270 points or 3.41%, S&P 500 was down 69 points or 2.41%.

Fulfilling Hagar’s Promise

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Egypt/Nile River, Isaiah, Prophecy with tags , , , , , , , on May 12, 2019 by paulthepoke

Isaiah 19:22 And the LORD will strike Egypt, striking and healing, and they will return to the LORD, and He will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them.

The concept of “striking” in the verse is noted consistently with idea of war or battle. The vast majority of times, the word for “striking” is nagaph in the Hebrew.  Nagaph is to win the battle. In Ye Olde English… smote or smite. Someone gets smacked. See an example below.

2 Chronicles 25:22 And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his home.

Somebody is going to be defeated and in this case it is Egypt. Now the loss is not intended to be permanent. God has purpose and He is the One directing history. The intent is to bring Egypt towards Him.

Twice in Isaiah 19:22, God states He will rapha or “heal” Egypt.

…and they will return to the LORD… The verb in question is “return” or shab in the Hebrew. It means: to turn back, return. So this begs the question, “When was Egypt ever with the Lord?” Return to the Lord? Really…

This is the fulfillment of a promise to Hagar, an Egyptian.

Genesis 16:3 So, after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her servant, and gave her to Abram her husband as a wife.

As the story goes, Abram fathered a son with Hagar, Ishmael. And there was this prophecy from the Angel of the Lord.

Genesis 16:11-12 And the angel of the LORD said to her, “Behold, you are pregnant and shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because the LORD has listened to your affliction. He shall be a wild donkey of a man, his hand against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he shall dwell over against all his kinsmen.”

God listened to Hagar. And the name Ishmael means “God hears”. God always reminds us with the name Ishmael, He hears Ishmael. And frequently after God calls Ishmael (God Hears) by his name, He states, “I have heard you…” God always hears Ishmael.

Definitions provided by Strong’s Concordance.

God has always heard and watched over Ishmael, even after Hagar and he were kicked out of their home with Abraham.

Wikimedia Commons

Genesis 21:17 And God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.

God has never left the descendants of Hagar and Ishmael. He has always watched over them and still has a promise of hope for them today.

Genesis 21:20 And God was with the boy, and he grew up. He lived in the wilderness and became an expert with the bow.

God promised to make a great nation from the line of Ishmael. Granted, this is the birth of the Arab people. But, Ishmael is the descendant of an Egyptian.

Genesis 17:20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and multiply him greatly. He shall father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation.

Genesis 21:18 Up! Lift up the boy, and hold him fast with your hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”

And Ishmael (half Egyptian) married an Egyptian woman. His offspring were ¾ Egyptian.

Genesis 21:21 He lived in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.

God is not finished with the Egyptian people. He still hears them today. Approximately 4,100 years ago, God made a promise to the Egyptian people. And He always keeps His promises.

…and He will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them.

My Purple Flowers… Christine McDonald

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Christine "Clarity" McDonald with tags , on May 10, 2019 by paulthepoke

While I was walking along, keeping an eye out for a spigot, I saw some beautiful flowers in a yard behind a fence. Knowing that the owners must have a water hose around somewhere—and drawn by the flowers—I climbed over the fence. I just wanted to smell them at first. Then I saw the butterflies fluttering around and saw the sparkles from the morning dew, like tiny pearls on the petals. It was all so beautiful: the rich mixture of colors, so bright, with the lush, vibrant green grass that blanketed the ground in front of the flower bed. So I walked over and began picking
some flowers of each color: a red one, a blue one, a yellow one, and a few purple ones. The purple seemed so calm, so peaceful and rich.

As I was picking them, a man came out from the house with a phone in his hands. He was yelling, and he had an accent. “Get away!” he said. “I’m calling the police! Get away from my house!”

I had spotted the water hose, and I was thinking about how badly I needed that drink of water. But I realized the man would not let me near it.

“I’m sorry,” I said, and headed for the gate, with the man still yelling at me about my trespassing in his yard and picking his flowers. I still had them in my hand, and I dropped them by the fence as I exited the yard. I turned as he yelled once again that he was calling the police.

“I’m homeless,” I said. Then it hit me that I was barefoot, that I was standing in the cool of the grass, and that his flowers were beautiful. “I don’t see much beautiful stuff,” I said, and then I started walking again.

I realized then that he had stopped yelling at me. In fact, I heard him behind me, saying, “Hey, lady.” I turned, thinking for sure that the police had arrived at his house to arrest me for trespassing. Instead, I saw that he was holding the flowers I had dropped. He handed them to me.

I smiled and said thanks. He made eye contact with me very briefly, as if for a moment connecting with my humanity, something that happened so rarely for someone like me. And then he looked down. When he looked at me again, it was with a stern glare.

“Now go,” he said, “and stay out of my yard.”

I walked with those flowers, smelling them along the way—the smell so sweet, so fresh, and so pure—looking at the bright colors against my hands, which were riddled with open sores and blisters. My hands were so dirty, so
dark, but the purple stood out against them, so vibrant, clear, and bright. The color itself seemed to shout happiness and goodness. The brilliant colors of the petals across my blackened, filthy flesh were so beautiful, and the smell was so fragrant and sweet!

That day in the sunshine, I slid the flowers behind my ears as I walked to the corner where a trick was waiting, flashing his brake lights as a signal for me. My beautiful moment was over; it was back to my reality.

Straight Talk, Get Up Lazarus… Rodna Epley

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Rodna Epley with tags , , , , , , on May 8, 2019 by paulthepoke

Jesus had just found out His friend Lazarus was sick and purposely waited 2 more days before responding to the call by Lazarus’s sisters to come and heal him. He waited so that Lazarus would surely die before He got there and the glory of God could be revealed in Him, proving that God sent Him and that He was the resurrection and the life. People would place their trust in Jesus, and the Father would receive glory through Him.

Jesus said He was going to wake Lazarus up because he was asleep. Waking from sleep for a believer is a metaphor for rising from the dead to a new life. That is for someone who goes to sleep having put their faith in Christ. Only those who die “in Christ” get to participate in this new creation life.

Those who have this new life also have a light residing within them that the rest of the world doesn’t have. It’s a transforming and informing light. This light is the glory of Father for anyone who is positioned “in Christ”. This “in Christ” position gives us the power of the throne of glory. Because we are sons of glory.

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” (John 1:12)

“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4)

“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-7)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
