Do not brag or boast, but let light shine upon the good in yourself. For the good in everyone is a gift of God. Shine so bright that no darkness is seen in you. Let others see the good works of God in you.

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in Heaven.

Have a bright week my friends!!!

Job 21:7 Why do the wicked still live, continue on, also become very powerful?

1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life, is not from the Father but is from the world.

Caution, this is an adult conversation.

Saw a news clip this morning where a supposedly famous female designer was defending Harvey Weinstein by saying the way women dress now days is just asking to be touched inappropriately. Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. If a woman wants touched, there won’t be any question about it. No still means no. Just because you have power & wealth, it doesn’t give you the right to be an asshat. Just because a woman wants to feel good about herself or feel sexy, it doesn’t mean she wants your attention or to be touched. Be a gentleman, not an entitled jerk!

Ephesians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

The following thoughts are from the other Paul, the Poke.

Serious question, are any of us any different than Harvey Weinstein? As people, we think the sins of another are far worse than anything we do. “Well I’m not as bad as Joe Blow!”

Here is the standard from Jesus Himself.

Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Anyone out there innocent? Remember, pride and lying are sins as well.

There is a solution…got Jesus???

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Straight Talk…Love Your Enemies, Rodna Epley

Matthew 5:43-45 Jesus said… “You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous…

From what I’ve seen most Christians don’t know how to “love their enemies” or “turn the other cheek” nor do we even try to obey that command directly from Jesus. I’m still learning and trying. At first I had to discover what “loving my enemies meant” and then I had to be willing to apply the concept in real life situations. It’s very difficult at first because it feels like injustice and more suffering piling upon ourselves. But eventually it becomes easier the more we do it. And we learn it feels more like honoring God and giving that person (enemy) a chance to be saved. Loving our enemies causes us to see more from God’s perspective. It removes “us” as a barrier to God’s deliverance of that person: and even of us. It doesn’t cause an “enemy” to have more control (maybe for the moment). It causes them to feel unworthy (later) of such grace and kindness that they become sorrowful and repent.

Trend Update: Sabbatical/Shemitah Year, August 2014

Posted in Prophecy with tags , , , , , , , , on August 20, 2014 by paulthepoke

Exodus 23:10-11 You shall sow your land for six years and gather in its yield, but on the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, so that the needy of your people may eat; and whatever they leave the beast of the field may eat. You are to do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove.

The government of Israel has set aside approximately $29 million for farmers who are choosing to honor this law of God. Obedience to the law will result in loss of income to farmers. This upcoming Jewish civil year is a Sabbatical or Shemitah year. It runs from roughly September 24, 2014 through September 13, 2015 on the Gregorian calendar. On a Hebrew calendar, the year runs from Tishri 1 through Elul 29.

Why now? What has possessed the Israeli government to set aside money for farmers to honor this commandment from God? Israel has not paid attention to this law since they returned to the land and were reborn in 1948. The Sabbatical year has not been followed since 70 AD. There is increased interest and concern for this law by farmers and citizens of Israel.

For more details of the Sabbatical Year law see Leviticus 25:1-7 and Deuteronomy 15.

Money has also been set aside in light of Deuteronomy 31:10-11 Then Moses commanded them, saying, “At the end of every seven years, at the time of the year of remission of debts, at the Feast of Booths, when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God at the place which He will choose, you shall read this law in front of all Israel in their hearing…” This ceremony is scheduled to take place on the Jewish Holiday of Tabernacles or Sukkot. Christians call it the Feast of Booths. The ceremony will be celebrated at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on September 28, 2015. That evening, there will be a big red lunar eclipse that is a Super Moon. Traditionally, lunar eclipses on holidays are a bad omen for Israel.

So what is the big deal? Why should Israel honor this statute in the 21st century? Is this relevant today?

God warned continually of consequences and judgment if His commandments were not followed. Eventually, judgment came at the hands of the Babylonians. Jerusalem was destroyed. People were killed. Those who survived were taken into captivity by Babylon. See 2 Chronicles 36:15-20 for more detail. God was keeping track. The land will have its rest. 2 Chronicles 36:21 …to fulfill the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its sabbaths. All the days of its desolation it kept sabbath until seventy years were complete.

Is God still counting??? If so…??? Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill…” –Jesus

Got Jesus…???
