Jubilee, Part 2, Jesus Offers a Clue?

Posted in Isaiah, Jubilee, Prophecy with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on October 25, 2015 by paulthepoke

Luke 4:17-21 And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD.

And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” -Jesus

Jesus read and spoke these words in the synagogue of His home town Nazareth (Luke 4:16). Jesus is reading Isaiah 61:1-2a. He reads verse 1 completely. Jesus then stops reading in the middle of Isaiah 61:2. By reading these words, He was claiming to be the Messiah. In other words, “Here I am!!”

Take a look at Isaiah 61:2. To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD (Jesus stops here.) and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn…

The stoppage of reading in the verse has lasted close to 2,000 years. At His first coming, Jesus was a suffering servant who died for our sins. His death freed us from the bondage of sin. Christ did not come in vengeance the first time, hence the pause. And we wait for the remainder of Isaiah 61:2b-11. It describes the future conditions of the nation Israel under the leadership of the Messiah, Jesus. He returns the second time in wrath.

At this point, many have stopped their analysis. There remains another question. Who is the prophet Isaiah quoting …to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD…?

Isaiah is quoting Moses who received instruction from God.

Leviticus 25:10 You shall thus consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim a release through the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his own property, and each of you shall return to his family.

The context of the verses quoted is a description of the jubilee year. Release the inhabitants and freedom for all the slaves.

Is Jesus leaving a clue about the timing of His second coming? Will He return in a year of Jubilee?

Here are some prophetic implications. The seven year peace treaty between the antichrist and Israel would be signed in God’s fall holiday season. A jubilee year is proclaimed on the Day of Atonement, Tishri 10 after the end of a set of seven years per Leviticus 25:9.

The Bible tells us a jubilee year is proclaimed after a Sabbatical or Shemitah year (Leviticus 25:8-11).

This would allow for the culmination of the seven year Tribulation to occur one year after a Sabbatical or Shemitah year, a jubilee year by definition.

A jubilee year has not been kept by Israel in over 2,000 years (www.chabad.org). As for the timing of the next jubilee year…no one knows, only the Father.

Leviticus 25:8-13 “You shall count seven weeks of years, seven times seven years, so that the time of the seven weeks of years shall give you forty-nine years. Then you shall sound the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall sound the trumpet throughout all your land.  And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan. That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows of itself nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines. For it is a jubilee. It shall be holy to you. You may eat the produce of the field.  In this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his property.”

Moses is the author of Leviticus. God relayed the information to Moses. This took place in the desert at the tent of meeting or the tabernacle. God’s chosen people are out of Egypt. They had not entered the Promised Land of Israel. It is mentioned over 50 times in the book of Leviticus. God communicated to Moses.

Leviticus 1:1 Then the LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the tent of meeting, saying…

The Hebrew word for “jubilee” is yovel. Per Strong’s Concordance: It means ram’s horn, trumpet, or cornet. It is also translated jubilee.

Per Scripture, we do know a jubilee year is proclaimed after the seventh Sabbatical or Shemitah year. The sequence calls for back to back years of rest for the land. By definition, the 50th year is proclaimed after the 49th (see above verses). The question is knowing the sequence of Sabbatical or Shemitah years. Which Sabbatical/Shemitah year is the first in the sequence?

See the links below for definition of a Sabbatical or Shemitah year.

https://paulthepoke.com/2014/11/02/sabbatical-yearshemitah-part-4/

The jubilee year is to be proclaimed on the Day of Atonement, one of God’s fall appointments. Then you shall sound the loud trumpet on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall sound the trumpet throughout all your land.

Determining the next year of jubilee is highly controversial. Some believe a year of jubilee was proclaimed on Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement in the fall of 2015. Others believe it is not possible to determine the next jubilee. Some believe the year cannot be determined until nation Israel is represented by all tribes.

The nation of Israel and religious leaders did not proclaim a year of jubilee in 2015.

Nation Israel has not recognized a jubilee year in 2,000 years plus (God’s Final Jubilee, Dan Goodwin). At this point, only God knows.

A famous American Landmark, the Liberty Bell, was inspired by the Hebrew concept of jubilee. The inscription on the Liberty Bell is Leviticus 25:10b…proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants…

Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement, 2015

Posted in Fall Feasts, Prophecy, Teshuvah/Repent, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 20, 2015 by paulthepoke

Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement is celebrated on Tishri 10th. It is the last day of the 40 day period of Teshuvah. In 2015, it is effectively September 22 or 23 on our Gregorian calendar. The holiday officially will be 10 days after the civil new year (Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah/Feast of Trumpets) is declared at the sighting of the new moon. The new moon was declared on Tuesday, September 15 in Jerusalem. This holiday is viewed at the holiest day of Judaism. The day is a Sabbath day of rest. Yom Kippur is the only day a fast is required. The day begins at sun down. On the Day of Atonement, the high priest was kept awake during the dark of the night. The high priest was dressed in a white robe. Sacrifices of a bull, ram, and a goat occur. The priest makes a sacrifice for himself and for the nation of Israel. Yom Kippur is the day the high priest came into the inner sanctuary of the temple to make sacrifices on behalf of the nation of Israel. He is the only person allowed into the inner sanctuary. This day is the only day the high priest is allowed in the inner sanctuary. He entered the highest holy place with incense and coals. The incense was burned. Next, the recovered blood was sprinkled on the mercy seat, the top of the Ark of the Covenant. This is the busiest day of the year for the high priest. See Leviticus 16 for specific details. Yom Kippur 2015 could be very unique. The question is whether or not this God appointed holiday, Yom Kippur, will initiate a year of Jubilee. A year of Jubilee can only take place after a Sabbatical or Shemitah year. As of roughly September 13-15, 2015, a Sabbatical or Shemitah year will be completed as best as we can tell. A year of Jubilee occurs every 50th year.

Is Yom Kippur 2015 in keeping with God’s calendar in regards to the Jubilee??? Some clarity on the issue is necessary.

The following is an observation from people in Jerusalem looking for the new moon. Below is the schedule of fall holidays per today’s non-sighting of the new moon.

The definitive questions…Are these God’s times and day planner for His appointed holidays? Is tomorrow, Tuesday, sunset, September 15, the last day of the Sabbatical or Shemitah year? Does the civil new year start tomorrow at sunset?

Time will tell…

Trend Update: Shemitah Years Ends, September 2015

Posted in Prophecy, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 23, 2015 by paulthepoke

Deuteronomy 15:1-2 At the end of every seven years you shall grant a remission of debts. This is the manner of remission: every creditor shall release what he has loaned to his neighbor; he shall not exact it of his neighbor and his brother, because the LORD’S remission has been proclaimed.

stocktrader

Full disclosure: This post was written one week before recent stock market sell off for week ending 8/21/15.

“remission of debts…” In the original Hebrew text “of debts” is not present. “of debts” was added by the translators. Shemitah is the Hebrew word for remission. Shemitah as defined by Strong’s Concordance means: cancellation of debts, letting drop of exactions, (temporary) remitting, release (from debt).

Shemitah comes from the root word shamat.

We are approaching the end of a civil year per God’s calendar. This past year has been unique. It has been a Shemitah or Sabbatical year. It is the seventh year of a set of seven years. God sets a seventh year aside for the land to rest. He also has economic provisions for the remission, cancellation, and release of debt.

https://paulthepoke.com/2014/10/26/sabbatical-yearshemitah-part-3/

The Hebrew civic new year started on Rosh Hashanah, Tishri 1, in the fall of 2014, specifically, at sundown on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 on our Gregorian calendar.

Elul, the last month of the Hebrew civic year, has begun as of the weekend of August 15, 2015 (Gregorian calendar).

The last day of the Hebrew civic year ends sunset Sunday, September 13, 2015. Elul 29 marks the end of the month and civic year for Israel. This will conclude a Shemitah year.

Incidentally, the end of the year is marked with a partial solar eclipse. Genesis 1:14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years… The Hebrew word for “sign” is owth. Per Strong’s Concordance owth means: a distinguishing mark, banner, remembrance, miraculous sign, omen, or warning.

Jewish rabbis teach when the sun is in eclipse on God’s appointed holidays, it is a bad omen for the world (no Biblical support for this teaching).

…because the LORD’S remission has been proclaimed.

So does God still take this seriously? Does recent history validate this seven year pattern of debt forgiveness and economic release? Let’s subtract by seven years at a time.

The greatest crash in stock market history took place on September 29, 2008. This event took place on the last day of a Shemitah year, Elul 29 on a Hebrew calendar.

The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 took place during a Shemitah year. On September 17, 2001, the Dow Jones Index lost 684 points. This date was the last day of the Hebrew civic year, Elul 29, a Shemitah year.

The bond market crash of 1994 took place during a Shemitah year.

The Black Monday stock market crash of 1987 took place immediately after the Shemitah year of rest.

The Mystery of the Shemitah, Jonathan Cahn.

Let me be clear. I am not saying something is going to happen from sunset September 13 through sunset September 14, 2015. God is not obligated to do anything. God is in control and has His time table. The pattern of recent history has become more precise and focal to Elul 29 on a Shemitah year.

The point of the Shemitah is to turn and trust in God. He will provide.

Make what you want of recent economic history in Shemitah years. Make your own informed decision. Maybe it is coincidence or chance…but it does follow God’s law and economic pattern.

The world is swimming in trillions (1,000,000,000,000) of dollars of debt. Some estimates are upwards of $223,000,000,000,000.

Lookout below IF God has His release of debt. The timing is right for mid-September, 2015.

…because the LORD’S remission has been proclaimed.

Teshuvah 2015

Posted in Fall Feasts, Prophecy, Teshuvah/Repent, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 16, 2015 by paulthepoke

The month of Elul initiates a 40 day period called Teshuvah. The point of the season is to prepare for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah and the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur. It is a time to turn toward God. People are called to turn away from their sin, repent, and change course. It is a time of inward reflection and sincere self-assessment. The goal is a change in lifestyle away from sin to obedience in God’s word. The 40 day period of Teshuvah ends on Tishri 10, Yom Kippur.

Elul 1 marks the beginning of Teshuvah. In a Gregorian calendar in the year 2015, this would be August 15 or 16 depending on when the new moon is confirmed. It is Jewish custom to blow a shofar (ram’s horn) one time every day during the season of Teshuvah. The trumpet is blown every day after the morning service except Shabbat or the Sabbath (Saturday for us in western culture) and the last day of month of Elul.

shofar-web

Elul is the last month of the civic calendar in Judaism. Elul is the sixth month of the religious calendar. Jewish tradition points to the name of the month to be an acronym of “Ani l’dodi v’dodi li” a quote from Song of Songs 6:3 I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine… In Aramaic, the vernacular of the Jewish people at the time that the month names were adopted), the word Elul means “search”. Per Strong’s Concordance, Elul means “nothingness” in the Hebrew. The month is mentioned one time in the Bible. Nehemiah 6:15 So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of the month Elul, in fifty-two days. Cultural customs per http://www.jewfaq.org, http://www.myjewishlearning.com .

This year, 2015, the season of Teshuvah is unique and exceptional.

The end of the month of Elul marks the end of a sabbatical or shemitah year. On a western Gregorian calendar, that is Sunday, September 13, 2015. Historically, God releases debt on the last year of a seven year cycle. Deuteronomy 15:1-2 At the end of every seven years you shall grant a remission of debts. This is the manner of remission: every creditor shall release what he has loaned to his neighbor; he shall not exact it of his neighbor and his brother, because the LORD’S remission has been proclaimed. Historically, this is not a good omen for economic markets.

A solar eclipse is also scheduled on Sunday, September 13, 2015. As God sees it, the solar eclipse is a time marker (Genesis 1:14, day four of the creation week). The Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Hashanah or Yom Teruah (take your pick of names) takes place when the new moon is observed. This begins a new civic year.

A lunar eclipse or a blood red moon is scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2015 on “The Feast” or Tabernacles (aka as Succot). The lunar eclipse will be a Super Moon and appear larger because it is closer to the Earth. The best view of the eclipse will take place in Jerusalem, Israel.

Per Jewish tradition, these celestial events take on additional significance when they occur on God’s Appointed Holidays.

If history is any indicator, fasten your seat belts. The land completes its rest on September 13, 2015. God is going back into action. Planet Earth is likely to get interesting.

Time will tell…

Sabbatical Year/Shemitah, Part 5

Posted in Prophecy with tags , , , , , , , , on November 9, 2014 by paulthepoke

Leviticus 25:1-7 The Lord then spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you come into the land which I shall give you, then the land shall have a Sabbath to the Lord. Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its crop, but during the seventh year the land shall have a Sabbath rest, a Sabbath to the Lord; you shall not sow your field nor prune your vineyard. Your harvest’s aftergrowth you shall not reap, and your grapes of untrimmed vines you shall not gather; the land shall have a sabbatical year. All of you shall have the Sabbath products of the land for food; yourself, and your male and female slaves, and your hired man and your foreign resident, those who live as aliens with you. Even your cattle and the animals that are in your land shall have all its crops to eat.

Exodus 23:10-11 You shall sow your land for six years and gather in its yield, but on the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, so that the needy of your people may eat; and whatever they leave the beast of the field may eat. You are to do the same with your vineyard and your olive grove.

So there is the law. Read it for yourself. What does modern day Israel think of this? What is going on today? Do farmers comply? 21st century responses are interesting. There are approximately 6,700 farms in Israel today (November, 2014). According to the Israeli government, about 50 farms did not comply with the statute. Roughly 450 farmers left their land for the year.

Last month the government sold the fields to a non-Jewish Israeli, a 25-year-old Russian immigrant named George. Because the fields are not Jewish owned, farmers can continue to work the land during the Sabbatical year. The farms will be returned to the original landowners after the Sabbatical year is over next fall. Technically, a farmer can continue to market their produce to Orthodox Jewish customers. Just a little bit of legal manipulation…

It is the spirit of the law that matters.

http://www.columbiatribune.com/arts_life/spiritual_life/israeli-farmers-observe-seventh-year-sabbatical-with-a-wink/article_388f2ac0-25d6-539b-bea0-cd674ee1f2d8.html

One particular farmer employs the practice of hydroponics. He grows plants in water instead of the soil. Technically, he is not working the ground. The vegetables are grown on platforms separate and apart from the land. Therefore, he is not breaking the law of God…so goes the thinking. Gilad Fine states, “We observe the Shemitah every year.”

http://jewishbusinessnews.com/2014/10/28/new-shmittah-app-helps-jews-avoid-sin-during-sabbatical-year/

Even your smart phone can help navigate the observance of the Sabbatical year. An app has been developed and can be downloaded. The app answers questions about the Shemitah year. The app has a list and map of land exclusions and exceptions to the Sabbitical land rest. The app comes with a list of Shemitah terms and definitions, a list of produce with explanations as to what rules of Shemitah apply, and two e books (one four pages long and the other 80 pages). The app is free and is only available for Android devices at this time.
