Temple Veil Torn… Rodna Epley

In Matthew 27:50 we read “And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.” The next 3 verses is all one sentence.

“And, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves AFTER His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.” (Matthew 27:51-53)

~

Mark 15:37-38 And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

~

Luke 23:44-46 It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun’s light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.

~

The veil is symbolic of Jesus’ flesh that was broken for us, and raised for us, and ascended to the right hand of the Father for us, giving us access into the Father’s presence, which is glory.

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near…” (Hebrews 10:19-22a)

The place of the Holiest (the Holy of Holies) is at the Father’s right hand of glory, not anywhere on the earth or still hanging on the cross. The cross is a way-point to the Father, and Jesus is the way. He is also the door allowing us entry into the Father’s house (His presence).

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1-3)

~

Jesus never meant for us to remain forever hanging on the cross that kills us. Rather we carry the dying of Christ in us which even daily puts to death the old nature, so that the life of Christ, which is the glory of the Father, might also be revealed in us. We died with Him and are raised with Him, and we are seated in Christ right now at the Father’s right hand. And Jesus gave us His garment, the glory, to wear right now, not after we die.

If someone only has Christ in them, the hope of glory, they aren’t living the new life yet and still struggling with sin, because their perspective is on the earth. We need to shift our perspective to where Christ is, coming all the way up to where we are seated in Him at the Father’s right hand. If someone can only see Jesus hanging on the cross, as if He said “I am the way to the cross” and not “I am the way… to the Father”, then they haven’t awakened the glory within them yet to shine on them. The cross is true and we were buried with Him, but it’s also true that we were raised with Him and seated in Him at the right hand of glory.

Jesus said to His disciples (including us who are also disciples), “These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.” (John 16:25)

Notice how Jesus just revealed that all of His figurative speaking, parables etc., was doing one thing: telling the world about the Father—the place where He was taking us. And He was going to speak plainly to His disciples. So, if you’re a disciple Jesus will introduce you to the Father. Then notice how after Jesus told them plainly which was immediately, His disciples received revelation from the Father and understood all things.

“His disciples said to Him, ‘See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech! Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from God.’”

Then Jesus said, “Do you now believe?” And started telling them how they would all leave Him alone, but He wasn’t alone, because His Father was with Him.

~

Once Jesus reveals the Father to us, this is how we are too. Even if everyone leaves us, we are never alone. We are strong because Christ, the glory, is the strength in our weakness, and we can endure anything because we have His joy. Joy and perfect peace are clear evidences of His glory radiating out of us—shining on us.

“All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, AND the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” (Matthew 11:27)

Let’s set our minds on things above where Christ is. Where is He? At the Father’s right hand. We died with Him already. Now we live in Him at the place where He is, where life is.

If we shift our focus to where Jesus is right now, the glory treasure that He deposited within us will wake up instantly! And we will know it because we will have instant joy and perfect peace.

“Wake up O sleeper! Arise from the dead! And Christ will shine (dawn) on you.” (Ephesians 5:14)

“Wake up My glory! Wake up psaltery and harp! I will awaken the dawn. (Psalm 57:8)

Stand Before… Phil Kulis

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Phil Kulis, Prophecy with tags , , , on December 18, 2019 by paulthepoke

Luke 21:36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be COUNTED WORTHY to ESCAPE ALL these things that will come to pass, and to STAND BEFORE the SON OF MAN.

Revelation 7:9-10 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, STANDING BEFORE the throne and before the LAMB, clothed with WHITE ROBES, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “SALVATION belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the LAMB!”

These are the only two places in the entire Bible with the common elements of:
* being counted worthy
* have escaped all
* standing before the Lamb/Son of Man.

The expression “escape all” can equally mean two things. It can mean:
•Not experience everything
AND
•Not experience anything

The multitude in Revelation 7 experiences the first six Seals of the Scroll but do not experience the remainder of the book on earth. They have “escaped all” in that they do not experience everything.

This multitude is the group Jesus was referring to. They
* are considered worthy
* escape all
* are “standing before the Lamb/Son of Man”

It is interesting to note that those hiding in underground bunkers say the exact opposite. They say, “HIDE US from the FACE OF HIM who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and WHO IS ABLE TO STAND?”

They are NOT worthy,
they DON’T escape all these things,
are NOT able to stand before the Lamb.

Revelation’s Four Living Creatures

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Angels, Revelation with tags , , , , , , on November 17, 2019 by paulthepoke

Revelation 4:6b-8 And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind: the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight. And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

Welcome to the throne room of Heaven. These are Revelation’s four creatures. They have an up close and personal view of the throne itself. These are not the four creatures mentioned in Ezekiel 1. See the details of these four faced beings below.

https://paulthepoke.com/2019/11/10/four-living-creatures/

An individual being is located on each of the four side of the throne. John observes twice that each entity is loaded with eyes all of over their bodies.

Revelation 4:6b …full of eyes in front and behind…

Revelation 4:8a,c And the four living creatures… are full of eyes all around and within…

Each creature has six wings.

Revelation 4:8a,b And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings…

Each being is distinct in its appearance. They are described as being similar to or resembling a corresponding animal. The body of the third creature is not described but its face is.

Revelation 4:7 …the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight.

Their message is consistent and non stop. God is holy.

Revelation 4:8b “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

Some believe the three calls for “holy” is a reference to the Trinity and recognition that each member (Father, Son, and Spirit) is indeed God.

Holy or ἅγιος/hagios in the Greek is defined as sacred, set apart, or different, distinguished, distinct unlike anything else.

The Hebrew word for holy is qodesh.

God’s holiness is foundational. God’s holiness separates Him from sin. Holiness is the most mentioned attribute of God in Scripture.

Psalm 47:8 God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.

Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.

Psalm 9:7 But the LORD sits enthroned forever; He has established his throne for justice…

Psalm 97:2 Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

~

These four creatures will introduce the four horsemen of the Apocalypse in Revelation 6. The lion like creature will call for the first white horse and its rider. The ox like creature will call for the red horse and rider. The man faced being will call for the black horse and rider. The eagle like creature will call for the pale horse and rider. They all make the same proclamation, “Come!

~

And these four creatures proclaim the eternal nature of God.

Revelation 4:8b …who was and is and is to come!

Revelation 4:9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever…

Heaven’s Throne Room

Posted in Isaiah with tags , , , , , , , , , on October 21, 2012 by paulthepoke

Expanding on Isaiah 6:1, what does the throne room of Heaven look like? There are other references to the physical description of the Heavenly throne in Scripture. The majority of the physical description noted is about God Himself. One of the references is in the Old Testament and one of the references is in the New Testament.

The first example is from Revelation. The apostle John who is imprisoned on Patmos is the author and he is the one in the Spirit.

Revelation 4:2-3 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne. And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.

The two stones of jasper and sardius are of interest as they describe God. Jasper is defined as a precious stone of various colors (purple, blue, green, white, clear, and brass in color). Sardius is a precious stone that is fleshly colored.

The color of the throne room is a green, gem like emerald. The rainbow encompasses the throne.

Verse 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.

Imagine the visual and acoustic environment this would create. Lightning and thunder are emanating from the throne.  Lamps representing the Spirit of God are blazing with fire in front of the throne. The number seven is symbolic of completeness, fullness, perfection.

Verse 6a and before the throne there was something like a sea of glass, like crystal…

The Old Testament description is provided by the prophet Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 1:26-28 Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, like lapis lazuli in appearance; and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man. Then I noticed from the appearance of His loins and upward something like glowing metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him. As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.

The throne is compared to lapis luzuli. What is that? It is translated as a sapphire stone in some cases. Sapphires can come in many colors. The most common color is blue.

The Ezekiel passage discusses the physical appearance of God. He looks like a man. God told us in the Genesis creation account that humanity was made in His image. Ezekiel confirms this with his observation. God looks like a man.

The physical description of God is consistent with fire. Fire is a symbol of judgment and purification.

Genesis 9:9-17, God establishes a covenant and a promise with man and all living creatures. Notice, man’s actions affect the living environment around him. The rainbow is a reminder and a symbol of God’s mercy. Specifically, Genesis 9:15 indicatesand I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.

The Triune God is present in the throne room in Heaven. The Father is seated on the throne. The Spirit is present as lampstands. The Son is the One who will open the scrolls later in the scene in Revelation 5.

The symbols and description of God in the throne room depict: strength, power, beauty, judgment, preciousness, and mercy.
