Trend Update: Tabqa/Euphrates Dam Near Collapse??? March 2017

The Tabqa Dam is also known as the Euphrates Dam. It is an earthen dam 25 miles west of Raqqa, Syria. Raqqa is the proclaimed capital of ISIS. Lake Assad was created when the Euphrates Dam was constructed. The dam provides electricity and water resources to the region. -Wikipedia

March 26, 2017: There are conflicting reports about the status of the Tabqa or Euphrates Dam. ISIS is stating the dam is on the verge of collapse. Water is reportedly rising in Lake Assad due to dam malfunction. ISIS is stating the United States is bombing near the dam. Bombing raids have weakened the Euphrates Dam per ISIS. The United States is denying the claim. News sources have been unable to validate the ISIS claims.

People in Tabqa and Raqqa, Syria are heeding the warning. Thousands of people are fleeing the cities down river of the Tabqa Dam.

At this time, it is not clear who is in control of the Euphrates Dam.

This is clear. The Tabqa Military Base and Airport are under the control of Kurdish forces. This has occurred within the last day (March 26, 2017). The Tabqa Military Base is located 3-5 miles south of the Euphrates Dam. The Kurdish forces have been supported by the United States. The United States has provided air support and special forces.

Revelation 16:12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates; and its water was dried up, so that the way would be prepared for the kings from the east.

Scripture tells us towards the end of the great tribulation the Euphrates River will go dry. This is the last series of bowl judgments. It does not specifically say where on the Euphrates. It would stand to reason it would be south of this location.

Presumably the kings of the east would be China but that is speculation based on Revelation 9:16 The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.

Currently, there is only one country on earth that fits this army size…China.

The context of Revelation 9 and Revelation 16 have these two items in common, the Euphrates River and a massive army.

As for now, we are not in the tribulation. But the Euphrates River is in the world’s news and trending…

Trend Update: Fighting in Damascus & Hama Continues/Struggle Over Euphrates River, March 2017

Jeremiah 49:23 Concerning Damascus. “Hamath and Arpad are put to shame, for they have heard bad news; they are disheartened. There is anxiety by the sea, it cannot be calmed.

Hamath: The name means “fortress”. In the times of Jeremiah, Hamath was a city in valley of the Orontes River. Hamath was considered the capital of the northern kingdom of Syria. In the early 21st century, this is the city known as Hama, Syria. It has a population of roughly 854,000 per 2009 census. It is the fourth largest city in Syria (Wikipedia).

March 24, 2017: Fighting between the Syrian Army of President Assad and the rebels continues. The majority of the hostilities are taking place north of the city of Hama. It appears the opposition rebels are gaining near Hama. The United Nations is holding peace talks in Geneva in an attempt to stop the clashes.

The Syrian rebels consist of the Free Syrian Army, the Fateh al-Sham front, the jihadists formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra, al-Qaeda in Syria. These groups are constantly changing names and alliances. This group is primarily Sunni Muslims.

The Syrian Army is supported by Russian forces as well as Iran and Hezbollah out of Lebanon. This group is primarily Shia Muslims.

 

Euphrates River

March 24, 2017: Fighting for control of the Tabqa Dam on the Euphrates River is currently taking place. The Tabqa Dam is located approximately 20 miles west of Raqqa, Syria the defacto capital for ISIS. The United States, France, and the Kurds are claiming to have taken control of the Tabqa Dam away from ISIS. This is critical. ISIS has previously threatened to blow the dam and flood the Euphrates River valley. ISIS claims the offensive to take the Tabqa Dam is failing…

 

Jeremiah 49:27 “I will set fire to the wall of Damascus, and it will devour the fortified towers of Ben-hadad.” –The Lord.

The conflict in Damascus has stopped the supply of food to 300,000 residents per the United Nations.

“They are totally dependent on our supplies. Starvation will be just around the corner unless we get there in the coming weeks,” Jan Egeland, UN humanitarian adviser on Syria.

Currently the old wall of Damascus is still standing. Fighting and warfare are taking place in the Jobar neighborhood. Jobar borders old Damascus on the east where the wall is located.

2,600 years ago the Lord God told Jeremiah the wall of Damascus would come down by fire. Currently, the wall is still standing. The prophecy has not happened, not yet…

Trend Update: Damascus Water Crisis Deepens, January 2017

Isaiah 17:6 Gleanings will be left in it, as when an olive tree is beaten— two or three berries in the top of the highest bough, four or five on the branches of a fruit tree, declares the LORD God of Israel.

January 16, 2017: The water crisis in the Damascus area continues to worsen. The Ein al-Fijeh spring provides Damascus with approximately 70 percent of the water supply. Nine million people in and around Damascus have significantly impaired access to clean water. This is up from four million people just a couple of weeks ago. To make matters worse, the chief negotiator respected by both sides was assassinated.

Water prices on the black market are soaring. The cost of water ranges from $500 to $750 a month. The water is for daily needs such as drinking and sanitation. The economic backdrop is a good paying job results in about $150 a month.

Of particular concern is the area of Wadi Barada. There are an estimated 100,000 people in the surrounded area. This is the Sunni controlled area (Al Qaeda of Syria, Al Nusra, or rebels supported by Obama Administration) enclosed by Shia lead forces of the Syrian government and Hezbollah of Lebanon. This area has been surrounded since mid-December 2016.

Inside the area, conditions are deteriorating rapidly. Utilities such as water, electricity, and internet are out. Communication is nonexistent.

Food is becoming scarce and people are cutting back on meals. Staples such as flour and baby formula are gone. People are eating limited olives and pickled eggplant. Locals are starting to live off the land by eating apples from local orchards and eating grass.

Medical care is declining as well. It is estimated there are only 10 doctors and 25 nurses. Medicine is in short supply and people are dying from a lack of supplies. Emergency care is becoming more and more limited. Amputations are increasing as a way to save critically injured patients. Disease is spreading among the weakest children and elderly. A lack of clean water is only making the situation worse with each day.

 

Northeast of Damascus, ISIS has cut off water to Aleppo. Electrical water pumps have been shut down since this past Saturday, January 14, 2017.

ISIS has warned the Kurdish military to stay away from the Tabqa or Euphrates Dam. They have threatened to blow the dam and flood the Euphrates River valley.

Trend Update: ISIS Cuts Water to Aleppo & Damascus, December 2016

Isaiah 17:1 The oracle concerning Damascus. “Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city and will become a fallen ruin.”

December 31, 2016: There is news out of Syria involving all three cities mentioned in the two prophetic verses; Damascus, Hamath (modern day Hamah), and Arpad (northern suburb of modern day Aleppo).

Hamath: The name means “fortress”. In the times of Jeremiah, Hamath was a city in valley of the Orontes River. Hamath was considered the capital of the northern kingdom of Syria. Arpad: The name means “I will be spread out.” Per Ellicott’s Commentary, the modern day location is approximately 14 miles north of Aleppo, Syria. The city is effectively on the Turkey border. Scholars believe the modern day city is Tel Erfad, Syria (Barnes Notes on the Bible).

Multiple reports out of the region are indicating ISIS has cut water supplies to the cities. The United Nations estimates up to 15 million people across Syria have been affected.

The Euphrates River is the main water source for Aleppo, specifically the al-Khafsa stations.

Up to 4 million people in and around Damascus have been affected. Water springs north and west of Damascus have been poisoned with diesel by the rebels or Al-Nusra or Al-Qaeda in Syria (group supported by Obama Administration). The areas are Wadi Barada and Ain al-Fija springs. These springs provide 70% of the water for the city of Damascus. Water trucks are distributing water to Damascus. Fighting continues in and around these springs as of December 31, 2016.

Local news sources indicating these findings are Shia. Sources indicate Sunni Muslims are carrying out these crimes against humanity.

Trend Update: Mosul Dam, November 2016

The prophet Nahum describes the destruction of ancient Nineveh or what is 21st century Mosul, Iraq. It comes with a flood. The key verses are stated below.

Nahum 1:8 But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of the adversaries, and will pursue his enemies into darkness.

Nahum 2:6 The gates of the rivers are opened and the palace is dissolved.

The Mosul Dam was built by Saddam Hussein in 1986 on soluble gypsum. Translation, the dam is built on a shifting, poor foundation. The Mosul Dam has been called the most dangerous dam in the world. It is located 35 miles north of Mosul, Iraq. The dam manages the Tigris River in Iraq. The dam holds an estimated 11-12 billion cubic meters of water. As of March 2016, the dam was in serious trouble. Currently (November 2016), an Italian company is completing work and maintenance on the dam. Trevi is being paid 217 million pounds to improve the situation. They have 450 staff employees working on the project. Trevi is being protected by the Italian military. Trevi is injecting grout and cement into the foundation of the dam.

Tobias von Lossow is a specialist on water projects in the Middle East at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs. He states, “Maybe the Mosul Dam is not the most dangerous in the world but it certainly is in a very disastrous condition. The risk of a breach is very high. Not only is it leaking but some of the gates on one side of the dam are not working, placing great pressure on the other side of the structure.”

A major issue is ISIS controls areas where gravel and materials are located for grout and cement.

ISIS previously managed to take control of the Mosul Dam in June 2014. Currently, the Mosul Dam is managed by the Kurdish peshmerga. The issue is ISIS took the maintenance equipment and supplies. The Kurds are busy fighting back ISIS to maintain control of the dam. ISIS clearly wants to destroy the dam. They have stated this as a goal and they are trying.

ISIS has used the control of dams as a weapon to flood areas of Iraq.

Keep in mind, ISIS control two dams on the Euphrates River in Syria. One is the Tabqa Dam, Syria’s largest dam. The second is the Baath Dam. These two dams control water to northern Iraq. ISIS is reported to hold prisoners at the dams as human shields.

An estimated 45-70 foot wall of water could flood the river valley if the dam breaks. This could potentially kill millions and displace 150 million more per estimates.

The city of Mosul would be underwater within four hours of a dam break. Within 77 hours, Baghdad would be targeted.

Trend Update: U.S. Bombs Syrian Forces, September 2016

September 17, 2016: Syria has claimed the United States has bombed their forces. The incident took place at Jebel Tharda near Deir al-Zor airport. The airport is located in eastern Syria on the Euphrates River. This area has been surrounded by ISIS. The bombing allowed ISIS to take control.

There is conflicting information regarding who controls the area. ISIS says they are in control. Russia and Syria say they are in control.

Syria states the bombing is “conclusive evidence” the United States is supporting ISIS. The Syrian army states the act is “dangerous and blatant aggression”. Dozens of Syrian soldiers have been killed.

“Syria is a complex situation with various military forces and militias in close proximity, but coalition forces would not intentionally strike a known Syrian military unit,” U.S. officials said.

The United States and Russia had agreed on a cease fire in Syria last week. Russia has consistently backed the Assad Syrian army during the civil war. The United States has called for a regime change in Syria.

Russia has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations. ABC News is reporting the United States is upset with Russia for calling the UN meeting.

Ezekiel 38:13 Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its young lions will say to you, ‘Have you come to capture spoil? Have you assembled your company to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to capture great spoil?’

Many people ask the question. Where is the United States in Bible prophecy? The simple answer, the United States is not there. Some take Tarshish to be Great Britain and the British Empire. A young lion of the British Empire would be the United States… so goes the thinking. Even if that is the case, Tarshish and its young lions are going to do nothing and watch a Russian invasion of Israel as prophesied in Ezekiel 38-39. Do your own homework. Investigate and come to your own conclusion.

Trend Update: Turkey Opens 2nd Front in Syria, Labor Day 2016

Over the Labor Day weekend 2016, Turkey has opened a second front in Operation Euphrates Shield. More tanks and troops have moved into al-Rai, Syria. This is about 25 miles west of the Euphrates River and Jarablus.

The goal of Operation Euphrates Shield is “to protect its borders and nationals” per Prime Minister Yildirim. Turkey is looking to defend its border from Syrian immigration, terrorism from ISIS and Kurd forces.

Kurdish forces have recently crossed west of the Euphrates River. This movement west of the Euphrates is not acceptable to Turkey. The Turks want the Kurds east of the Euphrates River.

President Erdogan states this is not a long term operation.

There are conflicting reports about United States involvement in the region. On one hand, the United States says they are concerned about Turkey’s involvement in Syria. On the other hand, they are providing air support for Turkey ground operations.

State run press of Turkey claims the border from Jarablus to Azaz has been cleared of ISIS terrorists. Turkey is looking to expand a security zone inside of Syria.

Of note is the proximity of this “security zone” to Dabiq, Syria. This is the heart of ISIS. Their monthly magazine is named “Dabiq”. This is the location of the ultimate battle of Islamic Sunni prophecy. This is where the infidels are taken out. ISIS believes the infidels to be “Rome” or western civilization.

Trend Update: Turkey Moves Into Syria, August 2016

The Prime Minister of Turkey made some news at a press conference over the weekend of August 21, 2016. Prime Minister Yildirim of Turkey has indicated Turkey will take a more active role in Syria in the next 6 months. He stated that current President Assad of Syria has no role in the future government. Assad’s current role is temporary.

Russia continues to gain a hold in the region. Russian ships are reported to launch cruise missiles from the Mediterranean to targets in Syria.

News reports state Russia wants to use Incirlik Air Base for air strikes on ISIS in Syria. Yildirim said Moscow did not make such a demand but said “if necessary Incirlik can be used”.

The US State Department says they are aware of these comments and seeking clarification.

Incirlik Air Base is currently home to US and NATO air support for air sorties against ISIS in Syria.

The air base is also home to a nuclear arsenal of 50-90 US nuclear weapons. Reports continue to be conflicting regarding the movement of these weapons. Some reports say the nukes remain in Turkey. Others claim they have been relocated to Romania. There appears to be confusion on the issue.

Moving the nuclear weapons to Romania would not please Moscow. It would move more weapons closer to Russia.

August 24, 2016: Turkey has launched their military into Syria. Tanks, planes, and troops are involved in the maneuver. This is the first time Turkey has introduced troops and tanks into Syria. President Erdogan states the focus of the strikes is towards Kurdish militants and ISIS. The name of the operation is Euphrates Shield. The United States is supporting the operation with special forces and air power.

ISIS has been in control of the area in Jarablus, Syria. Jarablus is on the Euphrates River. It is reported that Turkey has captured Jarablus and moved ISIS out of the town.

Syria is upset with Turkey moving into their country. Syria says it is a violation of their sovereignty. They are upset and launching a protest to the United Nations.

Kurdish forces have recently crossed west of the Euphrates. This movement west of the Euphrates is not acceptable to Turkey. The Turks want the Kurds east of the Euphrates.

Trend Update: Euphrates River, June 2015

The Euphrates River is in the news again. This time, ISIS is cutting off water to a town for military purposes. Water has been shut down north of Ramadi, Iraq.

Here is a direct quote from a CNN story. “They added that the level of water in the Euphrates was now low enough that the river could be walked across, making it easier for ISIS militants to cross and attack the pro-government towns of Husaybah and Khalidiyah as well as the large security forces base at Habbaniya.”

Recent history of the Euphrates River indicates there are many possibilities that can lead to the river going dry.  Due to drought in Syria and abuse of the river in Iraq, the Euphrates went dry in July 2009. Resources include the New York Times, Al-Akhbar.com, Prophecy News Watch. In the first week of June 2014, the Turkish government decided to stop the flow of the Euphrates River. Turkey accomplished this by holding water behind the Ataturk Dam. Downstream from Turkey is Syria and Iraq.

In June 2014 with the capture of Mosul, Iraq, ISIS now manages the Mosul Dam. This dam manages the control of the Tigris River in Iraq.

ISIS effectively controls the water supplies of the nations of Syria and Iraq.

The context of this verse in Revelation 16 is during the Tribulation. It is the sixth of seven bowl judgments. Many think the kings of the east are the Chinese and their military. When this occurs, the Tribulation will be near the end and Christ’s return will be imminent.

We are not in the Tribulation as of June 2015. There is no Temple. There is no antichrist. There is no peace treaty…

Trend Update: Assyrian Empire/Nimrod, March 2015

Genesis 10:8-12 Now Cush became the father of Nimrod; he became a mighty one on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD.” The beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. From that land he went forth into Assyria, and built Nineveh and Rehoboth-Ir and Calah, and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city.

Nimrod is the great grandson of Noah. The family tree looks like this: Noah, Ham, Cush, Nimrod (Genesis 10:1, 6, 8).

Per Strong’s Concordance, Nimrod means: rebellion or valiant. Three times, Nimrod is described as mighty, strong, and brave in the Hebrew. Some interpretations indicate Nimrod was possibly a “hunter of men” in addition to game. This guy was the original antichrist long before the term was coined.

These were the directions given to Noah and family after the flood. Genesis 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.” God said fill the earth, spread out. Nimrod rebelled and built cities. Nimrod brought people to cities. He had a significant opinion of himself. A city bears his name.

Nimrod was a real person. He built towns along the Tigris River. The first town Nimrod built was Babylon (south of modern day Baghdad). Shinar is the area of southern Iraq. Assyria is the area of northern Iraq following the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The towns mentioned in the Bible are real towns. Nimrod is effectively the founder of modern day Iraq. These towns were built roughly 4,000 years ago. Fast forward to March, 2015. These towns are back in our headlines.

Irony: ISIS has effectively occupied the territory of the Ancient Assyrian Empire noted in the Bible. Nimrod and Nineveh were two important cities of antiquities. The modern day Assyrian Empire (ISIS) is doing all it can to destroy and erase the history of the Ancient Assyrian Empire.
