The Hebrew month of Elul initiates a 40 day period called Teshuvah. This is the Hebrew word for “repent”. It is a time to turn toward God. People are called to turn away from their sin, repent, and change course. It is a time of inward reflection and sincere self-assessment. The goal is a change in lifestyle away from sin to obedience in God’s word. This is the season is to prepare for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah and the Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur. The 40 day period of Teshuvah ends on Tishri 10, Yom Kippur.
On a Gregorian calendar in the year 2017, Teshuvah begins at sunset on August 21 or depending on when the new moon is confirmed. On a Hebrew calendar, this is the year 5777.
This season of Teshuvah is unique. The 40 day period will be ushered in with a solar eclipse. The eclipse will cross the United States from the northwest coast to the southeast shore. 99 years have passed since the last time a solar eclipse crossed the whole of America.
A second solar eclipse is scheduled for seven years in April 2024 from south to northeast in the United States. The two eclipse paths…“X” marks the spot over the Midwest near St. Louis, MO.
God stated from the beginning He will communicate via the sun, moon, and stars.
Genesis 1:14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years…”
The celestial bodies are God’s clock. This is His daytime planner and calendar.
There are multiple purposes for these lights and they are stated clearly. One, the lights are to separate day and night. Two, they are signs. Three, they are time markers (seasons, holidays, appointments, days, and years).
…let them be for signs and for seasons…
The Hebrew word for “signs” is ‘owth. It means: sign, signal, a distinguishing mark, banner, remembrance, miraculous sign, omen, warning; token, ensign, standard, miracle, proof.
The Hebrew word for “seasons” is mow`ed (singular); mow`edim (plural). It means: appointed place, appointed time, meeting; sacred season, set feast, appointed season; appointed meeting; appointed sign or signal; tent of meeting (definitions provided by Strong’s Concordance).
Ancient Jewish rabbis have taught the moon represents Israel. The Hebrew calendar follows the cycle of the moon. The sun represents the gentile nations. Gentile calendars follow the cycle of the sun. In the case of solar eclipses, the nation experiencing the phenomenon is the nation under consideration.
These symbols were created in their place from the beginning for a country and people on Earth in the future at their appointed time. The message is simple. It is a warning. The United States from coast to coast is being called to repent of their ways. Change their hearts and return to God. If not, judgment is coming.
This is not fatalistic. God is watching actions and listening. Judgment does not have to be. We are all free will beings with the capacity to change our ways.

Luke 21:25 There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves…
The passage above is one verse from Jesus’ Olivet Discourse (see also Mark 13, Matthew 24, Luke 21).
Look at the context of this verse, signs in sun and moon and stars. Recently (2014 and 2015), we have experienced a unique series of solar eclipses and a blood red moon tetrad. Two solar eclipses (one in the spring and one in the fall) are scheduled for 2016 on God’s appointed holidays. There was also the Star of Bethlehem phenomenon in the summer of 2014. A sign in the stars is scheduled for Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah in the fall of 2017.
…at the roaring of the sea and the waves…
Hurricane Patricia (weekend of 10/24/15): Patricia was the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere. Patricia had the lowest atmospheric pressure on record at 880 millibars. Sustained winds of the hurricane were similar to an EF5 tornado. Winds were at least 200 mph.
http://www.weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/things-to-know-hurricane-patricia
Arabian Sea Tropical Cyclone Chapala (weekend of 10/31/15): Currently, the storm is at high category 4 level. It is scheduled to make landfall in Yemen in the first week of November 2015. Up to 20” of rain are possible in a 48 hour period. This is how much rain the region receives in 8-10 years! There is no record of a category 4 cyclone or stronger tracking as far south as Chapala in the Arabian Sea.

Praia do Norte in Nazaré, Portugal (week ending 10/31/15): This year’s conditions are producing 100’ waves. Of course, surfer dude wants the ultimate thrill. The previous record wave ride was at 78’. Be careful. These crashing waves have been known to knock surfer dude unconscious…Again, these are record setting waves.
Am I suggesting the weather events of the past week are the fulfillment of Jesus’ words???…NO!
I am stating the events discussed are the strongest and most powerful in recorded history as we know it. The fact they have all occurred in the last week of October 2015 is thought provoking.
If we are in the time period Jesus is discussing, the trend will increase in regards to intensity and frequency. This may be the beginning of the party.
Matthew 24:8 But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. –Jesus, Olivet Discourse
Luke 21:28 But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. –Jesus
But when these things begin to take place… Are these “the things” taking place? If so, His return may be right around the corner.
The Greek word for “redemption” in Luke 21:28 is apolutrosis. Per Strong’s Concordance it means: redemption, deliverance, release, liberation procured by the payment of a ransom.
Believers in Christ are redeemed, released, and liberated from the prison of eternal hell at the cross. The cross work of Jesus is a legal and binding transaction for all time. The criminal broke the law and was found guilty. The criminal was sentenced with unpayable fine. The criminal could not afford the payment of the fine. The fine of the criminal was paid for and with the blood currency of Jesus.
He is currently alive at the right hand of the Father. And He is coming back…
…your redemption is drawing near. –Jesus
Acts 2:17a…And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh…
Acts 2:20 the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. Peter is quoting the prophet Joel 2:31.
Acts 2:22 “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—Peter
Peter’s comments take place on the day of Pentecost or Shavuot in the Hebrew. This day was the last of God’s appointed spring holidays. It takes place 50 days after the burial of Christ. The year was 33 AD.
Acts 2:1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
http://paulthepoke.com/2015/04/19/unleavened-bread-nisan-15-saturday-33-ad-part-2/
…just as you yourselves know…The audience knew exactly what Peter was saying. Jews and gentiles had observed the miracles Jesus had performed. They had seen the solar eclipses. Their most recent solar eclipse was two weeks before the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. The people of Jerusalem saw the moon rise in eclipse, blood red, the next day after Jesus was crucified. They had seen the two previous lunar eclipses on Passover and Tabernacles the year before in 32 AD. The last blood moon eclipse was to come later in the fall on The Feast of Tabernacles of 33 AD.
These events in the sky, along with the miracles performed, confirmed Jesus’ identity as the Messiah.
Peter also mentions …And in the last days…the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.
Here we are again. The history of the sky, sun and moon, has repeated itself to the month and day on God’s appointed holidays. 2014-2015 AD was the same as 32-33 AD.
How close are we before the day of the Lord comes?
Joel 2:31 The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.
The blood moon tetrad has come and gone in September 2015. We are all still here. The world did not end. Jesus did not come.
For the critic whose religion is science, this blog will use data provided by NASA. Assess from another point of view. Consider there is a being capable of creating these heavenly bodies. Is humanity the pinnacle of intellect? Consider the orbits of these heavenly bodies are ridiculously predictable and trustworthy…chance? We can calculate their positions in space and time: past, present, and future. Consider we were created with the ability to discern these things. Calculate the odds. Open your mind. These celestial events were created for this time in history with a specific purpose. For all who consider themselves as rational and thoughtful, consider the evidence on your scientific terms. As you see it, all of your linear logic is based on random chance and chaos coming together to form incomprehensible order.
The first time the blood moon tetrad and solar eclipse phenomena happened on God’s appointed holidays was during 32-33 AD (NASA). What we witnessed in 2015 (spring and fall) is exactly as it was in the sky and on the calendar (Hebrew and Gregorian) as it was when Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected.
http://paulthepoke.com/2015/04/19/unleavened-bread-nisan-15-saturday-33-ad-part-2/
There are some interesting facts to consider. This most recent phenomenon is the last for some time. The blood moon tetrad series does not occur on God’s appointed holidays until 2582-2583 AD. That is 568 years from now. (NASA).
The blood moon tetrad series in conjunction with the solar eclipses does not occur again on God’s appointed holidays for roughly 1,000 years (NASA).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QXc6BdRlOQ
The 1,000 year gap from now, 2015, to the next occurrence (roughly 3015) is most interesting in light of Revelation 20:2-7. It is stated six (6) times. Jesus Christ’s kingdom on Earth is 1,000 years.
Of note, there are two more solar eclipses in the sequence. These are numbers three and four of the four consecutive solar eclipses. One is on the eve of the religious new year in the spring of 2016. The solar eclipse introduces God’s spring appointed holidays. The other is on the eve of the civil new year in the fall of 2016. The solar eclipse introduces God’s fall appointed holidays.
Why, in late June 2015, the Star of Bethlehem phenomenon in the sky?
http://paulthepoke.com/2015/06/30/trend-update-star-of-bethlehem-june-30-2015/
Why all of this now?
Day Four of Creation Week
Genesis 1:14… Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons…
…let them be for signs and for seasons…
The Hebrew word for “signs” is ‘owth. It means: sign, signal, a distinguishing mark, banner, remembrance, miraculous sign, omen, warning; token, ensign, standard, miracle, proof (definition provided by Strong’s Concordance).
…let them be for signs and for seasons…
The Hebrew word for “seasons” is mow`ed (singular); mow`edim (plural). It means: appointed place, appointed time, meeting; appointed time; sacred season, set feast, appointed season; appointed meeting; appointed sign or signal; tent of meeting (definition provided by Strong’s Concordance).
This was the eighth occurrence of the blood moon tetrad phenomenon on God’s appointed holidays. God stated He would use the heavens as a signal or sign.
At the least, the phenomena are a reminder of Christ and His work on the cross. The apostle Peter points this out in Acts 2. He is our payment for our penalty of sin.
If, this most recent blood moon tetrad was the “sign” of Joel 2:31 … we have been warned.
Psalm 19:1-4 The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their utterances to the end of the world.
There is all kinds of talk in today’s world. “Blood moons, tetrads, solar eclipses, signs in the stars, Second Coming of Christ, Armageddon, economic chaos, rapture, resurrection…sigh…”
Does God really give us signs in 2015? If so, are the celestial events we are witnessing in today’s time really of God? Is there even a god(s)? Come on now, we live in a scientific and technological age. The Bible is just a book of little stories and fables…
God uses the heavens to communicate. We are reminded throughout the Bible. But, He made this crystal clear “In the beginning”…
Day Four of Creation Week
Genesis 1:14-16 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

In western culture we think of seasons: spring, summer, winter, and fall. The Bible is a book of Hebrew culture. Their word for “season” has a different connotation.
The second reason given by God for the sun, moon, and stars is to signal an appointment in regards to place and time. This is God’s calendar and day planner.
God says He does not change. He stated He will use the heavens to communicate during creation (Genesis 1:14). He has stated He is unchanging in the Old Testament. Malachi 3:6a “For I, the LORD, do not change…” There is no change in the expression of His Son. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. God says He is immutable in the New Testament. James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.
As a reminder, a solar eclipse will usher in the Feast of Trumpets/Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah on September 13, 2015. This is the beginning of the civil new year in Israel.
A Blood Red Super Moon is scheduled for Tabernacles, September 28, 2015. The best viewing in the world of the lunar event will be in Jerusalem, Israel.
These celestial events take place on God’s appointed holidays. So does God use the sun, moon, and stars to communicate in 2015? If so, what is He telling us?
…fade the Twilight music…
The God appointed fall holidays are the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles. Below is a brief 10 minute video that provides a framework for God’s fall appointed holidays.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_sHxtUklR4
Numbers 29:1 ‘Now in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall also have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. It will be to you a day for blowing trumpets.
See also Leviticus 23:23-25.
The first fall holiday has many names. It is called the Feast of Trumpets by Christians. It is recognized as the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Some refer to it as the “Hidden Day” or the “Wedding of the Messiah”. In Judaism, it is called Yom Teruah which means the “Day of Blowing”.
It is the beginning of the civil new year. The date for the Yom Teruah is near Sunday, September 14, 2015 depending on the sighting of the new moon. The new year begins when the new moon is confirmed by two witnesses. There is a partial solar eclipse scheduled for Saturday, September 13, 2015. This solar event time marker ends the year. Jewish rabbis teach when the sun is in eclipse on God’s appointed holidays it is a bad omen for the world (no Biblical support for this claim).

http://paulthepoke.com/2014/09/14/yom-teruahrosh-hashanahfeast-of-trumpets-part-2/
The second fall holiday is the Day of Atonement. See Leviticus 16. Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement is celebrated on Tishri 10th. It is the last day of the 40 day period of Teshuvah. This holiday is viewed at the holiest day of Judaism. The day is a Sabbath day of rest. Yom Kippur is the only day a fast is required. The day begins at sun down. This is the busiest day of the year for the high priest with multiple animal sacrifices. The beginning for the Day of Atonement in 2015 is Tuesday, September 22 at sun down.
http://paulthepoke.com/2014/09/21/yom-kippurday-of-atonement/
Leviticus 23:33-36 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the LORD. On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work of any kind. For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the LORD; it is an assembly. You shall do no laborious work.’”
The third and last fall holiday on God’s calendar is Tabernacles. It is also called Sukkot, the Feast of Booths, the Festival of Tents, or the Feast of the Harvest because it was after the harvest in the fall. Simply put, it was also called “the feast” or “the festival”. This festival is a week-long festival from Tishri 15 to 21 on a Hebrew calendar. On our western Gregorian calendar, in 2015, the Feast of Tabernacles will be observed from September 28 through October 4. In 2015, the start of the holiday will coincide with a Super Blood Moon (lunar eclipse) that is most visible over Jerusalem. Jewish rabbis teach when the moon is in eclipse on God’s appointed holidays it is a bad omen for Israel (no Biblical support for this claim).
http://paulthepoke.com/2014/10/05/feast-of-tabernaclessukkotboothsthe-feast/
There are seven God appointed holidays communicated through the Old Testament Law. The first four were fulfilled to the day by Jesus Himself with His death, burial, resurrection, and the coming of the Holy Spirit. If the first four spring holidays were fulfilled on the God appointed holiday, why would the fall holidays be any different?
The month of Elul initiates a 40 day period called Teshuvah. The point of the season is to prepare for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah and the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur. It is a time to turn toward God. People are called to turn away from their sin, repent, and change course. It is a time of inward reflection and sincere self-assessment. The goal is a change in lifestyle away from sin to obedience in God’s word. The 40 day period of Teshuvah ends on Tishri 10, Yom Kippur.
Elul 1 marks the beginning of Teshuvah. In a Gregorian calendar in the year 2015, this would be August 15 or 16 depending on when the new moon is confirmed. It is Jewish custom to blow a shofar (ram’s horn) one time every day during the season of Teshuvah. The trumpet is blown every day after the morning service except Shabbat or the Sabbath (Saturday for us in western culture) and the last day of month of Elul.
Elul is the last month of the civic calendar in Judaism. Elul is the sixth month of the religious calendar. Jewish tradition points to the name of the month to be an acronym of “Ani l’dodi v’dodi li” a quote from Song of Songs 6:3 I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine… In Aramaic, the vernacular of the Jewish people at the time that the month names were adopted), the word Elul means “search”. Per Strong’s Concordance, Elul means “nothingness” in the Hebrew. The month is mentioned one time in the Bible. Nehemiah 6:15 So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of the month Elul, in fifty-two days. Cultural customs per http://www.jewfaq.org, http://www.myjewishlearning.com .
This year, 2015, the season of Teshuvah is unique and exceptional.
The end of the month of Elul marks the end of a sabbatical or shemitah year. On a western Gregorian calendar, that is Sunday, September 13, 2015. Historically, God releases debt on the last year of a seven year cycle. Deuteronomy 15:1-2 At the end of every seven years you shall grant a remission of debts. This is the manner of remission: every creditor shall release what he has loaned to his neighbor; he shall not exact it of his neighbor and his brother, because the LORD’S remission has been proclaimed. Historically, this is not a good omen for economic markets.
A solar eclipse is also scheduled on Sunday, September 13, 2015. As God sees it, the solar eclipse is a time marker (Genesis 1:14, day four of the creation week). The Feast of Trumpets or Rosh Hashanah or Yom Teruah (take your pick of names) takes place when the new moon is observed. This begins a new civic year.
A lunar eclipse or a blood red moon is scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2015 on “The Feast” or Tabernacles (aka as Succot). The lunar eclipse will be a Super Moon and appear larger because it is closer to the Earth. The best view of the eclipse will take place in Jerusalem, Israel.
Per Jewish tradition, these celestial events take on additional significance when they occur on God’s Appointed Holidays.

If history is any indicator, fasten your seat belts. The land completes its rest on September 13, 2015. God is going back into action. Planet Earth is likely to get interesting.
Time will tell…
