Please… God’s Grace in the Old Testament

The notion God is not gracious in the Old Testament is ridiculous. He is not a mean, sadistic God who is looking to squish people with His foot. He has always been gracious. Look at the people who received God’s grace in the Old Testament.

Laban recognized God’s grace and favor through Jacob.

Genesis 30:27 But Laban said to him, “If I have found favor in your sight, I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you.”

Joseph was extended grace by God via a prison guard.

Genesis 39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

 

The nation of Israel was granted favor on the way out of Egypt.

Exodus 11:3 And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.

Exodus 12:36 And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.

 

Moses received God’s grace throughout Exodus 33. See one of many examples to Moses below.

Exodus 33:12 Moses said to the LORD, “See, you say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’

 

Gideon received grace and favor from God personally via a sign in Judges 6:11-27.

Hannah was granted grace and favor in the birth of Samuel in 1 Samuel 1.

King David was anointed with grace.

Psalm 45:2 You are the most handsome of the sons of men; grace is poured upon your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.

 

Grace is given by God to those who walk in truth.

Psalm 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.

 

God blesses the afflicted with favor and grace.

Proverbs 3:34 Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor.

 

God’s grace for His nation Israel is eternal.

Jeremiah 31:1-3 “At that time, declares the LORD, I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they shall be my people.” Thus says the LORD: “The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest, the LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you…”

 

God’s Grace is better than material wealth despite what the culture says.

Proverbs 22:1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.

And yes, God’s grace in Jesus Christ is promised from the Old Testament prophet Zechariah.

Zechariah 12:10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn…”

US Embassy Move to Jerusalem Set for “This Generation” ???, February 2018

The date has been set. News of the move broke via Twitter.

The United States will move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Israel’s 70th Independence Day. The date is May 14, 2018.

This is 70 years to the date President Harry Truman announced the re-birth of Israel.

May 14, 1948: late morning eastern standard time (late afternoon in Palestine): David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, reads a “Declaration of Independence,” which proclaims the existence of a Jewish state called Israel beginning on May 15, 1948, at 12:00 midnight Palestine time (6:00 p.m., May 14, 1948, eastern standard time).

May 14, 1948, 6 p.m. eastern standard time (12:00 midnight in Palestine): The British mandate for Palestine expires, and the state of Israel comes into being.

May 14, 1948, 6:11 p.m. eastern standard time: The United States recognizes Israel on a de facto basis. The White House issues the following statement: “This Government has been informed that a Jewish state has been proclaimed in Palestine, and recognition has been requested by the provisional government thereof. The United States recognizes the provisional government as the de facto authority of the State of Israel.”

Sheldon Adelson, CEO of Las Vegas Sands, is willing to privately pay for the embassy move. The cost is estimated to be $500 million. Adelson is a supporter of the Republican Party. He has also backed both President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel in the past.

The Palestinians refer to Israeli Independence as Nakba Day. Nakba is the Arabic word for “catastrophe”. They acknowledge Nakba Day the day after Israel’s declaration on May 15. Nakba day was initiated on Israel’s 50th Independence Day by Yasser Arafat. The day is typically celebrated with conflict and skirmishes against the Israeli Defense Forces.

As a result, Palestinians have responded in anger and rage. Violence broke out in Gaza and the West Bank.

Saeb Erekat, Senior Palestinian Negotiator made the following statements.

“Determination to violate international law, destroy the two-state solution and provoke the feelings of the Palestinian people as well as of all Arabs, Muslims and Christians around the globe. Trump and his team have disqualified the US from being part of the solution between Israelis and Palestinians; rather, the world now sees that they are part of the problem.”

Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas Official was quoted.

“Moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem is a declaration of war against the Arab and Muslim nation, and the US administration must reconsider its move.”

Some would argue, the time span covered in this post is a Biblical generation.

Psalm 90:10 The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.

Are we entering a prophetic window of time??? The context is the Olivet Discourse and the end of time scenario. Jesus made this comment.

Matthew 24:33-34 So also, when you see all these things, you know that He is near, at the very gates. Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

 

It is ultimately your personal business…But I highly recommend getting right with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, by this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…

Trend Update: UN Declares Trump “Null & Void”, December 2017

Zechariah 12:3 On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.

December 21, 2017: We are living the verse above in today’s world. The nations of the planet are throwing an absolute tantrum over Jerusalem, Israel.

The UN has stated Trump’s declaration is “null and void”.

Today the United Nations (UN) held an emergency vote over Donald Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. 128 countries voted and urged President Trump to take back the proclamation. 35 countries abstained from voting.

9 countries voted against the UN resolution and stood with Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. These countries included: Israel, United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau, Togo, and Nauru.

US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley had the following comment after the vote.

“The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in this assembly. We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world’s largest contribution. That is what the American people want us to do and it is the right thing to do. This vote will make a difference in how Americans look at the UN. And this vote will be remembered.” -Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN.

President Trump weighed in on the vote.

“We’re watching those votes. Let them vote against us, we’ll save a lot. We don’t care.” -President Trump.

Even the Sanhedrin held an emergency meeting in light of the UN vote. The Sanhedrin warned the nations their vote will seal their fate. Here is the declaration.

Isaiah 11:9 In all of My sacred mount nothing evil or vile shall be done; for the land shall be filled with devotion to Hashem as water covers the sea. Israel Bible Translation

The declaration reads:

The nations should now take this opportunity to advance their required role in building God’s House in Jerusalem, the House of Universal Peace, on Mount Moriah, as prophesied in the Bible in order to bring about the long-awaited world peace.

Nations that vote for this evil decree via their representatives are instruments of destruction and their fate is sealed, as has been the case throughout history for those nations who have chosen the path of evil.

For the nations that have, until now, come against Jerusalem this vote is an opportunity to leave their evil ways. If not, they are sealing their own fate and will see judgments from heaven. The nations that support the US president’s declaration will gain merit in heaven.

We emphasize that this vote does not affect the prophecies concerning Jerusalem as the City of God since God’s word is eternal. It is Jerusalem’s fate to be a Light Unto the Nations.

Any nation that desires life will act intelligently and support the declaration of the United States.”

A little recommendation for the nations of the world… We are not there yet. But God has some guidance if you choose to go against His people in His capital Jerusalem in His nation Israel.

Zechariah 12:9 And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Trend Update: Emergency UN Meeting Over Jerusalem, December 2017

The United Nations (UN) held an emergency meeting over President Trump and his declaration of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The UN has informed President Trump’s announcement has ruined the chance for peace in the Middle East.

“The United Nations has repeatedly declared that any unilateral decision that seeks to alter the character and status of Jerusalem or that may alter these long-standing principles could seriously undermine current peace efforts and may have repercussions across the region.” Nickolay Mladenov, UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process.

“The status of Jerusalem cannot be unilaterally altered or determined by any state and this decision by the US should be reconsidered and rescinded. The extremely regrettable announcement … has heightened tensions and risks the complete destabilization of this volatile situation.” -Riyad Mansour, UN ambassador and permanent observer for Palestine.

Israel and the United States responded with a different tone and approach at the emergency meeting. The United States was represented by Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN. Israel was represented by their Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon.

“The United States has the courage and true understanding of justice to officially state what has always been known: that Jerusalem has and always will be the capital of Israel. The embassy of the United States belongs in Israel’s capital. We are grateful to the United States for its courageous decision. “Over many years the United Nations has outrageously been one of the world’s foremost centers of hostility towards Israel. The UN has done much more damage to the prospects of Middle East peace than to advance them. We remain committed to achieving a lasting peace agreement. We support a two-state solution if agreed to by the parties.” -Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN.

 

Jordan who manages security for the holy sites in Jerusalem has stated nothing has changed.

“The kingdom believes that any unilateral decisions to build a new situation on the ground are null and void. The protection of Jerusalem and its holy places for all religions.” -Sima Bahous, Jordan UN representative

Egypt, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Sweden, and Japan have made strong public statements condemning President Trump’s declaration. The Arab world is obviously up in arms.

The countries of the world are literally wringing their hands over Jerusalem.

The rest of the world does not see President Donald Trump to be a viable peace broker in the Middle East Peace Process. The world is scrambling for a person to take the lead on the issue. I will make the argument President Trump’s actions may be paving the way for the antichrist. Leadership will emerge. Do your own homework.

Jerusalem, Capital of Israel, December 2017

December 6, 2017: President Donald Trump has authorized Congressional legislation from 1995 to proclaim Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel. He also initiated plans to move the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. President Trump has made it official.

“Jerusalem is the capital the Jewish people established in ancient times. Today Jerusalem is the seat of Israel’s government.” President Trump.

Jerusalem as the capital of Israel goes back 3,000 years to the time of King David. The city was captured from the Jebusites in 2 Samuel 5 by David.

In June of 2017, the United States Senate unanimously voted 90-0. The resolution urges the “president and all United States officials to abide by the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act.” The bill stated the following.

“Jerusalem should remain the undivided capital of Israel in which the rights of every ethnic and religious group are protected. There has been a continuous Jewish presence in Jerusalem for 3 millennia. Jerusalem is a holy city and the home for people of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths.”

 

The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 is a public law of the United States. The law was passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995. The law states the United States Embassy in Israel should be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The law states Jerusalem is to be an undivided city. Jerusalem is recognized as the capital of Israel. This law was to be enacted by May 31, 1999.

Palestinian Leader Mahmoud Abbas contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moroccan King Muhammed, Pope Francis, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Jordan’s King Abdullah to stop President Trump’s intentions.

The religion of peace has predictably responded with threats of war and violence. President Trump has been told there is no seat at the “peace table” if he moves forward as promised.

Abu Rudeinah, Palestinian adviser indicated, “…the gravity of the consequences for the peace process and security and stability in the region and world.”

“…totally destroys any chance that he can play a role as an honest broker,” Palestinian Nabil Shaath, Abbas adviser.

In honor of President Trump’s declaration, Hamas has declared 3 Days of Rage instead of the usual one day.

Jerusalem and the nation of Israel are expecting violence.

Trend Update: US Senate Votes to Move Embassy to Jerusalem, June 2017

On June 1, 2017, President Donald Trump signed the successive six-month waiver to delay moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

However, the US Senate recently passed a resolution 90-0 to encourage President Trump to move the embassy. The bill was introduced by Majority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky). The Senate demonstrated unanimous bipartisan support for the resolution…unbelievable.

The resolution urges the “president and all United States officials to abide by the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act.”

The Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 is a public law of the United States. The law was passed by the 104th Congress on October 23, 1995. The law states the United States Embassy in Israel should be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The law states Jerusalem is to be an undivided city. Jerusalem is recognized as the capital of Israel. Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama have opposed the law because of national security concerns. This law was to be enacted by May 31, 1999.

Trend Update: UNESCO Votes Against Israeli Ties to Jerusalem

May 2, 2017: The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) voted that Israel has no legal or historical rights to Jerusalem. The vote was cast on Israel’s Independence Day.

The resolution was called “Occupied Palestine”. The measure was brought forth by Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, and Sudan. The vote breakdown was as follows: 22 countries passed, 23 countries abstained, 10 countries opposed, and 3 countries were absent.

The 10 countries opposed: United States, UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Greece, Paraguay, Ukraine, Togo, and Germany.

This vote appears to be on a collision course with President Trump and his trip to Israel later in the month of May. Trump is scheduled to arrive in Israel on May 22, 2017. Jerusalem Day begins on May 23. This year is the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem being reunified.

Speculation is Trump will make a major announcement in Jerusalem during the trip.

Recent comments by Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis are most interesting. Keep in mind, DeSantis recently traveled to Jerusalem to assess real estate locations for a possible US Embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“We have the chance to see a very important announcement very soon. What better time would there be to announce the relocation of the embassy than when you’re over there as president, celebrating alongside our Israeli friends this very important 50th anniversary? The announcement of that trip is a signal that it is more likely to happen than not. We are assuming that that is going to happen.” -Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis

Trend Update: Israel & Syria Exchange Missiles, March 2017

March 17, 2017: Israel and Syria have exchanged missile fire. Syria fired a surface to air missile towards Israel. Syria is reported to be shooting missiles at Israeli Air Defense jets. Israeli newspaper Haaretz indicates the Syrian missile was shot down by the Israel missile defense Arrow system. The missile was intercepted north of Jerusalem.

Arrow is one of three Israeli defense systems. Arrow has capabilities to intercept missiles above the Earth’s atmosphere. A second system is the Iron Dome. The Iron Dome can take out short range rockets. The third system is David’s sling. The sling accounts for mid-range threats.

Syria claims to have shot down an Israeli jet. Israel is denying the report and indicates all aircraft are accounted. The area in question is the eastern part of the Homs Province.

“As part of its right to defend the sanctity of its territory, the Syrian air defense responded to this aggression and shot down one of the planes while the rest of them were forced to flee,” Syrian Foreign Minister.

Syria has also called on the UN for assistance in the matter.

“Syria calls on the UN Secretary General and the President of the UNSC to condemn this blatant Israeli aggression, to force Israel to stop supporting terrorism in Syria, to implement all UNSC resolutions on counter-terrorism, including resolution No. 2253, to withdraw from the whole occupied Syrian Golan to the line of June 4th, 1967, and to implement resolution No. 497 for 1981,” Syrian Foreign Minister.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended Israel’s actions.

The Syrian Foreign Minister also believes Israel is supporting ISIS. This sounds crazy. But it is important to remember Syria is of the Shia brand of Islam and ISIS is of Sunni belief.

Trend Update: Secretary Kerry’s Vision for Middle East Peace, Two State Solution, December 2016

Zechariah 12:9 And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Zechariah 12:3 It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.

December 28, 2016: As of the posting of this article, the 2,500 year old prophetic last sentence of Zechariah 12:3 (And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it) is a true statement. All the governments of the world, including the current government of the United States, are against Israel.

The United Nations recently voted against the Israeli construction of neighborhoods and settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem. The vote was 14-0. The following countries voted against Israel: New Zealand, Senegal, Britain, France, Russia, China, Japan, Ukraine, Angola, Egypt, Uruguay, Venezuela, Malaysia, and Spain.

The United States could have blocked the resolution by voting no. Instead, the United States Ambassador abstained in voting. This allowed for passage of the resolution. This is the first time since Israel became a nation in 1948 the United States did not support Israel.

In response Israel has recalled ambassadors to Senegal and New Zealand. Israel has also limited a working relationship with the other countries except Venezuela and Malaysia.

Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claim President Obama was behind the drafting of the UN resolution against Israel. Israel states Obama was the force behind “ganging up” on Israel at the UN.

A spokesman for Israel David Keyes made the following claim, “We have rather iron clad information from sources in both the Arab world and internationally that this was a deliberate push by the United States and in fact they helped create the resolution in the first place.”

Israel Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer further stated, “We will present this evidence to the new administration through the appropriate channels. If they want to share it with the American people, they are welcome to do it.”

John F. Kerry has been the Secretary of State since February 2013. Multiple attempts to secure peace in the Middle East have been a failure during his tenure. Now with roughly three weeks left in the Obama Presidency, Secretary Kerry has a vision for peace.

Secretary John Kerry believes “the two state Israel/Palestine peace solution is in jeopardy.”

Secretary Kerry stated the framework for peace lies in the Oslo Accords. The Oslo Accords were based on the Camp David Accords in 1978 under the Jimmy Carter Administration. The Oslo Accords were signed in 1993 and 1995 during the Bill Clinton Administration.

Kerry was highly critical and scolding of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. He stated the Israeli construction of settlements in “occupied territories” is a threat to peace. The Secretary denied United States involvement in the drafting of the recent UN resolution against Israel.

Secretary Kerry finished his remarks with a six principle plan and framework for Middle East Peace and a two state solution for Israel and a future Palestine.

“No American administration has done more for Israel’s security than Barack Obama’s,’’ John Kerry.

The nations of the world are desperate to force the issue with Israel and the Palestinians. The United Nations knows time is short before the swearing in of Donald Trump as President of the United States on January 20, 2017.

Five days before President Trump would take control…on January 15, 2017 France is scheduled to hold a Middle East peace conference in Paris. Representatives from seventy (70) countries are scheduled to attend.

Israel and Palestine representatives will meet separately after the meeting. Israel prefers direct negotiations with Palestine.
