Things have been quiet on the “peace front” since Joe Biden has become President of the United States… until now.
Multiple reports are coming out of Israel and Arab news sources. The Biden Administration has reached out to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS). In September 2021, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan went to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and discussed the idea with MBS. In October, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud went to Washington to meet with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The pitch is for Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords.
Other countries appear to be lining up to possibly join the Abraham Accords. These include: The island nation of Comoros, Tunisia, Oman, Qatar, and Malaysia.
Keep in mind, Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka were in Jerusalem last week as the Abraham Accords caucus was initiated in the Israeli Knesset.
Foreign Minister Yair Lapid was at the event and made the following statement.
“We renewed relations with Egypt, we opened embassies, we improved our relations with the US. I call upon the Palestinians, and every Arab nation that is listening: We seek peace. Peace is not a compromise or a weakness but rather an embodiment of the human spirit. Those living in the Middle East are welcome to look around and see which countries are in a better position — those who seek peace, or those who seek war.”
Jerusalem, June 13, 2021: For the first time in 12 years, a divided Knesset approved a government not run by Benjamin Netanyahu. After some drama earlier in the day with Arab Ra’am party leader Mansour Abbas, the vote was cast in favor of the “change bloc”. The final vote tally was 60 for and 59 opposed.
Naftali Bennett is the new Prime Minister of Israel. Politically, many think Bennett is very similar to Netanyahu. He is right of center and right of Netanyahu as head of the New Right Party. Bennett is no nonsense and has a take no prisoners attitude when it comes to parties who wish harm to Israel. He does have a history of controversial comments towards factions of the Palestinians and enemies of Israel. Bennett previously served in Israeli special forces units of Sayeret Matkal (known as The Unit) and Maglan (reconnaissance unit). He recently served as the Defense Minister in 2019-2020. Bennett previously served as Netanyahu’s Chief of Staff from 2006-2008. He also founded and sold a technology company Cyota which specialized in e-fraud. -Wikipedia

For the first time in Israel’s history, an Arab party will have a say in the governance. This is the Ra’am Party headed by Monsour Abbas. He is the power broker of this new government. All eyes are focused on Abbas inside and outside of Israel. Abbas is a dentist by trade. He is opposed to the Abraham Accords. Socially, he is opposed to LGBTQ+ causes and is supportive of conversion therapy. Abbas is set to bring billions to Arab Israeli communities throughout Israel. Shekels are slated for society development, infrastructure, violence and organized crime, and recognition of communities. -Wikipedia
On his way out of power, Benjamin Netanyahu expressed grave concern for the security of Israel. His primary concern is Iran.

It would appear the two state solution between the Palestinians and Israel is likely to be back on the table in favor of the Abraham Accords. Time will tell.
This fractured coalition will be tested by foreign adversaries. I suspect not much time will pass. Land for peace is where this is all headed. The question is how soon.

At literally the last hour, Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid informed Israeli President Reuven Rivlin he has formed an 8 party coalition to establish a government. The coalition has 61 seats in the 120 member Knesset for a majority.
The parties include: Yesh Atid, Blue and White, Yisrael Beytenu, Yamina, New Hope, Labor, Meretz, and Ra’am.
Yair Lapid and Yamina chief Naftali Bennett will alternate as Prime Minister. Bennett will be the first prime minister until September 2023. Then Lapid would serve as the prime minister until November 2025 under the agreement.
All of this was made possible by Ra’am Islamist leader Mansour Abbas. This would be the first time a majority Arab party would be a part of a leading coalition in Israeli government.
Per the Times of Israel, Ra’am was promised NIS 53 billion ($16.3 billion) for Arab society development. In addition, another NIS 2.5 million ($770,000) to fight violence and organized crime in Arab society. Plus, another NIS 20 million ($6 million) will be invested over the next 10 years to fix crumbling infrastructure in Arab cities and towns. Also, three Bedouin unrecognized villages, Abda, Khashm al-Zena, and Rakhma, are set to be legalized in a government decision.

All of this has to be ratified by a vote in the Knesset in about 12 days. This would set up a vote on approximately June 14th, 2021.
The coalition stated, “We will do everything to unite Israeli society.”
Israeli Knesset Member Yehuda Glick is protesting Prime Minister Netanyahu’s policy regarding the Temple Mount. Currently Israeli lawmakers are banned from ascending the Temple Mount. Netanyahu has promised to lift the ban but has backed off his promise repeatedly. So, Glick has set up an office near the entrance of the Temple Mount.
“The Temple Mount is a place that is open free to everyone – Jews, Christians and Muslims. Only MKs are not allowed up on the mount. It is against the law – illegal and absurd.”

Glick is one of two Jewish lawmakers who attended the inauguration along with West Bank settler leaders.

I come carrying the name of Jerusalem for this cause and I will reiterate it in all of my meetings,” said Glick.
January 24, 2017: Publically the Trump Administration states the US Embassy move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is in the early stages.
“We’re at the very early stages of that decision-making process,” stated Sean Spicer, White House Press Secretary.
Actions are speaking louder than words. It appears the Trump Administration is moving forward with plans to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem.
According to Jerusalem City Councilman and Deputy Mayor Meir Turjemon, “The architect who designs American embassies around the world has already arrived in Israel to examine the conditions in the field.”
The United States Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, is planning on living and working in Jerusalem. Traditionally, the US Ambassador lives in Herzliya which is north of Tel Aviv on the Mediterranean coast. Friedman’s plans are to arrive in Jerusalem in late February and begin working. He does not care if the US Embassy is moved or not. He is going to work in the capital city of Israel.
