September 18, 2022: A 7.2 earthquake has occurred on the southeast coast of Taiwan. There have been down grades to the intensity of the quake to 6.9. There is wide spread damage of buildings, roads, and bridges throughout the country. Power outages are indicated throughout the island nation. Landslides are being reported. The tsunami warning has been cancelled.
As of this post, one fatality has been reported with limited injuries.

Typhoon Merbok has hit Alaska’s west coast. This storm is MASSIVE! If the storm were to hit the lower 48 states, the following states would be impacted: Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Missouri.
Merbok has a history of winds about 50 to 75 miles per hour. Peak wind speeds may close in on 100 mph. Waves have reached heights of 35 feet. Storm surge has reached upwards of 18 feet. Homes and property have been literally sucked into the ocean. People have been evacuated and have lost their homes.

Hurricane Fiona is making land fall in Puerto Rico. Fiona was recently a named storm with sustained winds of around 80 mph. President Joe Biden has declared a state of emergency for Puerto Rico. This is a developing and breaking story…

Typhoon Nanmadol is making landfall in southwest Japan. This is one of the strongest storms on record to hit Japan. Winds are sustained at 150 mph.
More than 8 million people in southern and western Japan have been ordered to evacuate due to Typhoon Nanmadol. Local government officials across Japan sent NHK and others information about the orders that they had issued by 7 p.m. on Sunday. A level 5 alert, the highest on Japan’s disaster warning scale, was issued to more than 330,000 people in about 160,000 households in Kagoshima, Miyazaki and Oita prefectures. A total of nearly 8 million people in about 3.7 million households affected by a level 4 alert were ordered to evacuate in parts of the Kyushu, Shikoku and Chugoku regions.

Something has changed! A Global down turn is underway; it can be seen in the Industrial statistics, the”Yield Curve” Spreads, the Baltic Dry Index. The slowdown can be seen in declining Home Mortgage Applications and increasingly higher Auto loan delinquencies; much, much higher credit card debt with slower repayments. Not surprisingly, the Spring Real Estate market in many regions of the US are exhibiting slowing sales when Property sales should be seasonally expanding. These are all signs of an aging Business Cycle.
