The focus is on the word “sorcery“. This is the Greek word φαρμακεία/pharmakeia. In English, this is where we get the word “pharmacy”. It is used 2 times in the New Testament. In both cases, many translators use the word “sorcery“.
φαρμακεία/pharmakeia can also be translated as: the use of drugs, potions, and enchantments; poisoning; the occult, witchcraft; the remedy, the cure.

This holiday has many names. It is called the Feast of Trumpets by Christians. It is recognized as the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. In Judaism, it is called Yom Teruah which means the “Day of Blowing”.
The directions for the holiday are straight forward.
It is to be a day of rest or a Sabbath.
The day is a holy or separate day. It is a convocation. The Hebrew word for convocation is miqra’. Per Strong’s Concordance it means: rehearsal, convocation, a reading, a calling together, or sacred assembly.
It is a memorial and reminder to blow or shout. The Hebrew word is teruah. It means: alarm, signal, a sound of tempest, shout of joy, blast of war, alarm, joy, war-cry, or battle-cry.
In the Hebrew civil New Year of 5785 or the Essene year of 5949, Israel is at war on three fronts. Is war about to break out on a fourth front?

September 27th is the most important day in the Middle East since the Abraham Accords breakthrough. Iranian leadership is stuck in the old Middle East, while their neighbors in the GCC are sprinting toward the future by investing in their populations and infrastructure. They are becoming dynamic magnets for talent and investment while Iran falls further behind. As the Iranian proxies and threats dissipate, regional security and prosperity will rise for Christians, Muslims and Jews alike. Israel now finds itself with the threat from Gaza mostly neutralized and the opportunity to neutralize Hezbollah in the north. It’s unfortunate how we got here but maybe there can be a silver lining in the end. Anyone who has been calling for a ceasefire in the North is wrong. There is no going back for Israel. They cannot afford now to not finish the job and completely dismantle the arsenal that has been aimed at them. They will never get another chance. After the brilliant, rapid-fire tactical successes of the pagers, radios, and targeting of leadership, Hezbollah’s massive weapon cache is unguarded and unmanned. Most of Hezbollah fighters are hiding in their tunnels. Anyone still around was not important enough to carry a pager or be invited to a leadership meeting. Iran is reeling, as well, insecure and unsure how deeply its own intelligence has been penetrated. Failing to take full advantage of this opportunity to neutralize the threat is irresponsible. Who are Sheba and Dedan? They are first mentioned in Genesis 10:7 The sons of Cush were Seba and Havilah and Sabtah and Raamah and Sabteca; and the sons of Raamah wereSheba and Dedan.
The family tree starts with Noah, then his son Ham, then his son Cush, then his son Raamah and his sons Sheba and Dedan.
Historically, per Strong’s Concordance and NET Bible, Raamah settled in the southwest of the Arabian Peninsula. Sheba settled in the southern Arabian Peninsula. Dedan settled in the northern Arabian Peninsula. These areas make up what is modern day Saudi Arabia.
Dedan was an ancient capital of Saudi Arabia. It is modern day Al Ula in northwest Saudi Arabia.
Tarshish is a term and people that is difficult to define. Some believe Tarshish to be nations of the northern Mediterranean. Some believe Tarshish to be Spain. Either way, this region appears to be modern day Western Europe.
The brothers of Magog appear to be linked to modern day Turkey. They include Gomer, Meshech, and Tubal. Historically, Turkey is also known as the House of Togarmah. See the link below for specifics.
In the last weeks (prior to February 14, 2016), there has been a military build on the borders of Turkey. Alliances are being formed.
On one side we have NATO (United States and European Union) with Turkey as an organization member. Turkey is now being supported with military hardware from Saudi Arabia. Both Turkey and Saudi Arabia are Sunni Muslim nations.
For the first time in history, Israel will be exporting natural gas. Israel has recently contracted with Turkey to sell natural gas. The deal is worth $1.3 billion. The Leviathan reserve is online and open for business. Delivery to Turkey is expect to begin in 2019.

This is the city of Damascus, Syria. This place has been a hot spot in the Middle East and in the news cycle. The country of Syria has been in Civil War since the spring of 2011. Damascus is the oldest continually inhabited city on the planet. The city’s had residents and inhabitants for over 5,000 years. There is some debate of what the meaning of the name is. In the Hebrew, according to Strong’s Concordance, it means “silent is the sackcloth weaver”. According to Wikipedia, the Damascus metropolitan area has approximately 5 million people.
Late August 2013: It has become obvious to the international community that President Assad of Syria has used chemical weapons on his people. Estimates range from 300-1,300 dead. The Syrian government has issued a warning to the United States not intervene with its military according to USA Today. The Syrian government is blaming the opposition rebels for the attack. Syria has agreed to UN inspections regarding chemical weapons.
Leaders from the United States, England, France, and Germany discussed their options over the weekend of August 24 and 25. Pressure is mounting on President Obama to act with a military response. President Obama’s red line has been crossed with the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
United States war ships have been moved into the eastern Mediterranean. British nuclear submarines and multiple war ships are reported to be in the area. Military intervention appears inevitable.
Russia put Washington on notice Sunday that it would oppose any unilateral military action in Syria. The Russian Foreign Ministry drew a parallel between reports of chemical-weapons use and Washington’s 2003 intervention in Iraq following what proved to be unfounded U.S. accusations that Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein’s government had weapons of mass destruction (Wall Street Journal). Russia declares military intervention should not occur unless there is UN authorization. Unauthorized force would be a “blatant violation of international law”.
Iran is warning of “harsh consequences” to the United States if it acts with a military response. Iran has told the United States it is playing with fire (France24.com). Syria and Iran are warning Israel of stern consequences. Gas masks have been issued in Israel (Drudge Report).

This is the city of Damascus, Syria. This place has been a hot spot in the Middle East and in the news cycle. The country of Syria has been in Civil War since the spring of 2011. Damascus is the oldest continually inhabited city on the planet. The city’s had residents and inhabitants for over 5,000 years. There is some debate of what the meaning of the name is. In the Hebrew, according to Strong’s Concordance, it means “silent is the sackcloth weaver”. According to Wikipedia, the Damascus metropolitan area has approximately 5 million people.
Early May 2013, Israel launched strikes into Syria targeting missiles intended for the terror group Hezbollah (meaning is “Party of God”). The missiles reportedly came from Iran. Syria has pronounced these acts a “Declare of War”. Chemical weapons are being used and fought over in the Syrian Civil War.
Any time events begin to unfold in Damascus, it tends to peak one’s interest and curiosity in light of Isaiah 17:1. Are these the events that lead to the destruction of Damascus? I don’t know nor am I suggesting “this is it”.
The events unfolding are interesting and have potential prophetic implications in Damascus and with regard to Ezekiel 38 and 39 (Magog or Russian invasion of Israel from the north). Key characters in Bible prophecy are present (Russia, Iran, Syria, Israel). Russian President Putin is upset with Israel and expressed that further attacks on Damascus would not be tolerated. Russia is offering air defense systems to Syria. There are Russian troops in Syria (Debka.com). Russia has reportedly delivered supersonic cruise missiles to Syria (Haaretz.com). The Russians do not want President Assad in Syria overthrown.
The United States is committed to supplying arms to forces in opposition to Assad, the “Syrian rebels”. The rebels are effectively up against the Syrian Army who is backed by Hezbollah, who is backed by Iran, and Russia who backs all of the above (Debka.com).
Iranian and Hezbollah troops are reported to be increasing in Syria. Israeli forces are gathering along the Lebanese and Syrian border. Anti-missile batteries have been dispatched by Israel (Jerusalem Post). War drums are beating. Millions of lives are at risk.
