The Watchmen, just a couple of dudes sitting on the wall watching the world… Click on the video link at the bottom of the post for content and analysis by Czekmate and Paul.

In this edition of The Watchmen… Israel has a new Prime Minister and he is Yair Lapid. The former government and leadership under Naftali Bennett has collapsed. As of now, elections to form a new government in Israel are set for November 1, 2022. Speculation is running rampant on coalition formations. Politics do make for strange bed fellows. One situation has a conservative rabbi and an Arab looking to help form a government led by Benjamin Netanyahu. Expect more twists and turns.

Currently, Israel is suffering from a lack of leadership. Are we watching a trend that will result in the appointment of a really evil leader?

1 John 2:18 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.

Hezbollah launched an attack from Lebanon to the Karish gas field in the Mediterranean Sea. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stepped in and destroyed three drones intended for the drilling rig. The international boundary remains a point of contention for Lebanon and segments of the international community.

Russia is watching and will ultimately intervene according the Prophet Ezekiel 38-39. President Vladimir Putin has stated he wants to control the flow of oil and gas from east to west into Europe. Only Israel stands in the way from a Russian monopoly on energy in the region. Russia smells weakness with a leadership vacuum in Israel, Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States

President Biden is making a trip to the Middle East this week. He looks to stop in Israel, Palestine (as he sees it), and Saudi Arabia. Biden will visit with Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed bin Salman. The Saudis feel betrayed by the Biden Administration. The Saudis have openly discussed the notion of oil payments in the Chinese Yuan. The ripple effects could be staggering. These are economic high stakes.

What will Biden’s policy be toward the land of Israel and its capital Jerusalem? Will he look to divide the land and capital? Pray for the peace of Jerusalem…

In a little over a week, Turkish President Recep Erdogan faced the lowest of lows and the highest of highs. First, Erdogan had an abysmal meeting with the Saudi’s Mohammed bin Salman, then Turkey agreed to accept Finland and Sweden into NATO. Erdogan reached an agreement. His vote of acceptance was bought at the price of American F16’s and labeling the Kurds terrorists.

Food is under attack!

Russia continues with its invasion of Ukraine. Wheat fields are being set on fire. Mines are being placed in fields resulting in the destruction of farm equipment. Mines are being set in destroyed sea ports. Grain exportation to other parts of the region and world are severely hampered.

What started out as a farmer protest in the Netherlands is spreading. The Dutch are major food exporters across Europe from the north. Farmers across Europe are beginning to show their muscle. The rallying cry is a simple one. “No farmers, no food.”

Farmers are protesting “green energy” policies which are restricting. Government authorities state “targets introduced last month (are) to reduce harmful nitrogen compounds by 2030, (which) are necessary in emissions of nitrogen oxides from farm animal manure and from the use of ammonia in fertilizer.”

Government Authorities have responded by opening fire on farmers with guns. Tear gas has been released. Dogs have been unleashed. Fines have been levied.

Farmer protests have spread to Poland, Germany, and Italy.

Food security complications continue to grow across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.

What we are witnessing in Sri Lanka is the end result…

Revelation 6:5-6 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!”

A hallmark of the beginning of the tribulation is hyperinflation as noted in Revelation 6 which leads to global famine. Revelation 6 talks of a time when it will cost a day’s wage just to eat. Inflation is in the headlines. Food security continues to be a growing issue. We are trending and living in times as described by John the Revelator. We should pay attention.

The Watchmen, just a couple of dudes sitting on the wall watching the world…

Genesis 12:3 And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.

In this episode of The Watchmen, President Biden reaches out to Jordanian King Abdullah and discussed Temple Mount Security. A reminder, never a good idea to divide God’s land or capital.

The United Arab Emirates has a new president. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan was elected president by a federal supreme council. He replaces his half brother, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed.

Revelation 6:6 And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!”

Food security continues to play an increasing role in our world. India will no longer export wheat. India is the world’s second largest producer. Three (Russia, Ukraine, India) of the top 10 wheat producers in the world will no longer export wheat. This accounts for 40-50% of the planet’s grain trade. This is a very big deal!!!

Iranian citizens have taken to the streets to protest the exploding price of basic staples. Grains and cooking oils have gone up 300% over the last week. In response, the government cut off the internet briefly.

Diesel supply shortages are starting to be a concern on the east coast of the United States. All of these things point to higher food and fuel costs.

Ukraine’s President Zelensky has been invited to the Davos Economic Forum scheduled for later this week. Zelensky appears to have the support of the world’s economic elite. More weapons please…

Democrat House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer made the following admission this past week on the floor of the House of Representatives. “It is unfortunate that in a time of war, we spend all the time blaming our own president.” So we are fighting a proxy war with the Russians.

Finland announces its intent to join NATO. Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan is not so sure about this move and a states Finland and Sweden are hot beds of terrorism. Russia promptly cuts off electricity to Finland.

It would appear Europe is starting to understand Putin a little more clearly. European companies, not sovereign countries, are opening accounts with Gazprom Bank to pay for natural gas in rubles. Mind you, this does not violate any European sanctions against Russia. No conflict of interest, move along.

Revelation 9:16 The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them.

The People’s Republic of China is on the move in the Pacific. A Chinese aircraft carrier was spotted off the coast of Taiwan and Japan. A reconnaissance vessel was also spotted off the west coast of Australia. Plus, the Chinese are making end roads in the Solomon Islands. Australia responds with strong language to the Chinese.

Russia and Ukraine, February 27, 2022, Operational Update & News

Overview of Ukraine and location of Russian involvement from the UK Ministry of Defence

Israeli Prime Minister Bennett offers to mediate peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Foreign Minister Yair Lapid takes a tougher tone and stance against Russia.

Numbers are emerging regarding the damage sustained by the Russian armed forces. Data is provided by All Israel News and Russian News Agency Tass.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has placed nuclear armed forces on alert. Video has emerged from Moscow indicating and confirming the movement of ICBM mobile launchers.

Europe and Canada has closed air space to Russian commercial flights.

Turkey appears to be riding the fence in regards to allowing passage of Russian Naval vessels in the Dardanelle and Bosphorus Straits. It depends on the meaning of a “declaration of war”…

According to Reuters, Germany, the United States, France, Canada, Italy, Great Britain and the European Commission agreed to cut Russia out of the SWIFT global payment system.

Luke 21:28 Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

This Week in Prophecy:

What are the ripple effects of Russia invading Ukraine?

photo: Wikipedia

Finland and Sweden are discussing NATO membership. Russia’s response is a threat of military and political consequences.

Syria’s President Assad is supportive of Russian intervention in Ukraine. Assad sees this as a “correction of history.”

As a reminder, Ezekiel 38-39, Jeremiah 49, and the Burden of Damascus from Isaiah 17 are looming and appear to be coming into focus with each passing day.

A significant consequence of Russia’s actions will be the inflation of grain prices throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Egypt will bear the brunt with 80% of grain imports coming from Russia and Ukraine.

Revelation 6 instructs there will be hyperinflation at the onset of the tribulation. Wheat is specifically mentioned in verse 6.

Lastly, Kyiv has spiritual significance in Putin’s grand plan for what he sees as Russia. What role does spirituality play in the conflict? Putin states he wants to rebuild Christendom.

Russia and Ukraine, February 17, 2022… Czekmate’s Operational Analysis & Commentary

Remember: It is what they (Russia) do, not what they say.

THIS is Russian diplomacy at its most essential. They are moving troops forward while emphasizing that some are packing up to go home. This is against the backdrop of “heightened” tensions with the separatists. These tensions are ongoing. From what I can tell, the Donbas exchanges of fire are not particularly bad as compared to a couple of weeks ago. It is a mess, and will likely remain so the balance of the week while the allies and the world are meeting in Munich for the security summit. The Russians are sitting out their participation in that conference.

photo: Moscow Times

I am amazed at the Russian media buy-in on the exchange of fires that are going on in the Donbas regions (Luhansk & Donestsk). Exchange of fires happen frequently and the elevated tenor of them is over a month old.

As mortar exchanges happen and possible tank/artillery shelling, the Ukrainian separatists are working overtime to stoke further tension.

From social media: Russian/separatist tv channels are trying to pass off dead children from an explosion in Damascus from 2012 as being from the Donbas region. Reverse image search is quick and easy.

Further to my previous, the enclosed article summarizes the Russian/Ukrainian news cycle for the past 12-18 hours, from the western vantage point. It is solid writing and informative. It is a rallying cry for some of the allies going into the Munich Security Conference this week.

It is also dignifying one of the effects the Moscow seeks for its own purposes during that conference: to create an atmosphere of concern that can be spotlighted by the Russians and media (they consider friendly) to throw the allies into a negative light.

In other words, Russia seeks to create the image of a bellicose NATO. This Reuters article serves that end, if unintended.

As I’ve discussed here, the Russian diplomatic approach is frequently a case good cop/ bad cop. Capitalizing on the media enhanced war drumbeating shows the Russian deftness at this multi-faceted and often contradictory approach to diplomacy in it’s public messaging. Through media lackeys they have hiked tensions in/through the Donbas (separatist regions of Ukraine) while planting stories of withdrawal from the Ukrainian frontier. Their approach appears to be in contrast to what you see here. But they harness stories such as this for domestic use and the intimidation of Ukraine.

These dual-track, contradictory signals are transmitted while western press largely confines itself to reporting the movement of troops out of assembly areas to offensive positions closer to the Ukrainian border. Western media addresses the Russian narrative-contradiction, but as an aside. Instead of calling the double-game for what it is, the western media stereotypically dwells on the forces arrayed and whispers “Hosanna” at the leaks they get out of the US executive branch.

These confusing signals keep Moscow in command of the high ground of decision making, leaving all of Putin’s options in play. They are playing to a number of audiences while at the same time auditioning the resonance of diplomatic overtures and/or demands. Put differently, articles like the one below give the Russian approach an upper hand at all times. Having such a saturation of differing media messaging gives the Russian government cover for any changes in approach to objectives as events demand.

Much more succinctly: Moscow speaks, the world reacts.

They have superiority in freedom of action. This is the situation the allies and the Ukrainians have been in, since this epoch began. More to come gang!

Russia and Ukraine, February 14, 2022… Czekmate’s Operational Analysis & Commentary

MOSCOW, RUSSIA – MARCH 11, 2020: A plenary meeting of the Russian State Duma, the lower house of the Russian Parliament, to consider constitutional changes in the third and final reading. Anton Novoderezhkin/TASS

De-escalation in Ukraine?  The Duma is forced to consider recognition of the Luhansk and Donbas regions

The past twenty-four hours have seen protean developments in the diplomatic panorama with respect to the standoff between Russia and Ukraine.  As of this writing, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is in Kiev and reports are slow to emerge.  He will be in Moscow tomorrow.  But the press picture emerging from Russia appears to show that the Kremlin is finding a new way forward.  Also clear from this is that his methods are imperfect, but they show an agility of statecraft resulting in Putin generally getting his way from this row between the two countries.

The Russian state legislative assembly, known as the Duma, has two proposals regarding the recognition of the separatist regions of Donbas and Luhansk.  One is presented by the Communist Party and the other by the United Russia Party.  Putin does not claim official leadership of United Russia, but it is chaired by his longtime ally Dimitri Medvedev.  The party generally does as he instructs and is the largest party in the Duma.

Put bluntly, the true nature of the Russian government remains as it was in Soviet days, that of an authoritarian state.  In the post-cold war/détente era, Russia has picked up the veneer of political pluralism, free markets, and federalism.  These are strictly pretense.

Domestically and diplomatically, it is a sleight of hand that the Russian Federation includes the Duma in its decision calculus.  But it seems to be a new course of action.  The Putin government was slow to make clear that the central complaint animating the buildup of Russian forces disposed toward Ukrainian territory, was the implementation of the Minsk agreement with respect to the two regions in question.  It was a subject change from the enlargement of the NATO alliance which was his original point of emphasis as the buildup gained global attention.

It was the week of February 6th, when the shift occurred after the allies would not commit to any course of action with respect to NATO enlargement.  Putin’s initial calculation may have been to humiliate the west by breaking “allied consensus” that NATO is open to all aspirants who meet membership criteria.  Allied consensus isn’t merely a diplomatic term of art, it is an inviolable method of doing business in the alliance.  Amid the war mongering din of western press, Putin’s team slyly changed the subject to that of the treatment of the two separatist regions, saying nothing about their ongoing occupation of the Crimean Peninsula.

It appears to have worked.  Throughout this saga, Putin’s team has seized and retained the diplomatic initiative throughout the rise in tensions and has shown a deftness at rolling with circumstances that tends to be intrinsic to authoritarian countries in high stakes moments of international politics.  It is an agility that comes with the unity of effort among the entire state and state influenced apparatus.  This includes, but is not limited to, the central government, the legislative and judiciary, the press, and industry.  In such instances a political position can turn on a dime at the direction of the ruling elite.

Such is the case with the kabuki theater surrounding the Duma’s consideration of recognition of the Donbass and Luhansk, while artfully leaving Crimea off the table.  You can be assured that Putin’s team wrote a set of points for members of the Duma.  One is likely to be wholly unacceptable (likely the communist party proposal) and the other will be more “moderate” (United Russia’s proposal).  Both of which will move the goalposts using the Minsk agreement into terms preferable to Moscow’s outlook.  They will provide the west “an out” and save face that what the Duma decides could have been worse.  According to English language editions of Russian media, the measures are to be considered while German Chancellor Scholz is to be in Moscow (tomorrow) for talks on the Ukraine issue as well as the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Czekmate has seen nothing concrete regarding the Duma measures, but when one overlays the rise in inflammatory rhetoric from those regions (Donbas and Luhansk) alongside the fabulism being reported by the Russian press, this is the State Department’s (Ned Price) false flag.  It is in progress now, but the script is flipped in favor of a de-escalation.

Such exaggerations by the Russian media in tandem with the Duma debate are meant as much for Russia’s domestic consumption as they are for the world.  Putin is on thin ice when it comes to deploying the Russian military.  Since the interventions in Chechnya, Ingushetia, and Dagestan of the 1990s through the first decade of this century, the Russian population is restive on the question of military adventurism.  They were brutal interventions by the Russian army.

Many observers argue that the deployment to Syria using elite non-conscript formations shows that the Russian government has overcome this through instituting a volunteer military.  However, this policy is not universal in the Russian military.  Further, the Russian population historically galvanizes in defensive campaign where the country is being viewed as victimized.

Thus, Putin’s move with respect to the separatist regions is recast to address an effrontery constructed by the west against the pan-Russian identity and a literal mortal danger to fellow would-be countrymen.  The actual history of Russophone Ukraine is the legacy of Josef Stalin’s induced famine of these regions in 1932-33.  After that engineered genocide, the Soviet state resettled Russian speakers in these lands and Moscow has since nurtured these culturally Russian affinities over the decades.  This was a means of asserting political influence over greater Ukraine.  90 years later it is still in play, being capitalized on for the purposes of giving Putin this alternate course of action.

The Scholz visit to Moscow tomorrow, will be telling.  Does Germany, with heavy exposure to the Russian economy through its trading relationship, deliver a compromise?  Does Crimea remain off the scene?  It is the home to the Russian Black Sea fleet and its southern aspirations.  Do Putin and his coterie maneuver past an outright conflict and settle short of the war that the White House is desperate for?  Captain Dementia, Jake Sullivan and Hillary need a subject change stat.

Czekmate will try to keep the Fighting Czekmates Group updated, and pass development as warranted.

This a very respectable write up of the current state of play in Ukraine. Well worth your time to take in and disregard cable news in the US. If you read/view nothing else but read this, you’re pretty well up to speed. Czekmate will help with where it looks like it is all going.

Trend Update: Turkey’s Erdogan at Odds with Europe, March 2017

Posted in Ezekiel 38-39, Prophecy, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 15, 2017 by paulthepoke

Ezekiel 38:1-3 The word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, set your face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him and say, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

Ezekiel 38:6 Gomer and all his hordes; Beth-Togarmah from the uttermost parts of the north with all his hordes—many peoples are with you.

According to the prophet Ezekiel, Russia will be joined by several countries in their future invasion of Israel. One of those countries is modern day Turkey. Scripture says Turkey is a player in the Ezekiel 38-39 scenario, the Gog and Magog war and invasion of Israel. The brothers of Magog (Meshech, Tubal, Gomer and his son Togarmah) appear to point to modern day Turkey.

Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan is making news across Europe. With the upcoming election later this spring on April 16, 2017, Erdogan is looking to expand his presidential powers. If given authority, he would be allowed to appoint the majority of judges, determine ministers, set the agenda for the budget, create law by decree, declare states of emergency, and dismiss parliament if necessary. This could potentially allow Erdogan to remain in power until 2029.

Erdogan is taking his campaign to Europe by holding rallies in European countries. Not all European countries are in favor of these Turkish political rallies. European leaders have expressed concern for safety at the rallies.

erdogan rally

Turkey’s president needs the vote and support of the people. The issue is Turks who are eligible to vote. Some of the registered voters are living abroad in Europe. It is estimated there are 5.5 million Turks who are eligible to vote who live in Europe. 1.4 million Turkish voters live in Germany.

March 5, 2017: Germany blocked several pro Erdogan rallies which resulted in some strong language from Turkey’s president.

“Your practices are not different from the Nazi practices of the past. I thought it’s been a long time since Germany left [Nazi practices]. We are mistaken.” –President Recep Erdogan of Turkey.

March 12, 2017: Riot police engaged the pro Erdogan supporters in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Turkish Family Minister was escorted out of the country. Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu was not allowed into the country.

Erdogan has not taken kindly to cancellation of rallies. “I have said that I had thought that Nazism was over, but that I was wrong. Nazism is alive in the West,” President Recep Erdogan of Turkey.

In reference to the Dutch, Erdogan proclaimed, “They are very nervous and cowardly. They are Nazi remnants, they are fascists.”

Sweden has cancelled scheduled events for Erdogan support.

Austria has indicated rallies are not appropriate in their country.

Denmark Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen postponed a gathering.

Switzerland has said no to Erdogan political rallies.

However, the French were agreeable to and allowed a rally in Metz, France.

Currently, Turkey is a member of NATO. Europe is not pleased with a fellow NATO member’s comments toward pledged allies. You know Russia’s Vladimir Putin is watching and courting Turkey’s Erdogan.

Trend Update: Turkey on the Move in the Middle East, October 2016

Posted in Burden of Damascus, Ezekiel 38-39, Mosul/Nineveh, Prophecy, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 19, 2016 by paulthepoke

As of October 19, 2016, Turkey has military operations on three fronts and President Recep Erdogan has aspirations of being more assertive in the region.

Two Greek fighter aircrafts engaged two Turkish F-16’s aircraft in a dog fight over the Aegean Sea. Military jets were reported to be armed. The incident took place southeast of Rhodes and south of Kastellorizo.

October 11, 2016: Turkish fighter jets violate Greek air space.

October 5, 2016: A previous dog fight between Turkish and Greek jets was reported by

Greece and Turkey are both members of NATO. Since the failed coup attempt in the summer of 2016, Turkey’s President Erdogan has strengthened alliances with Russia.

October 19, 2016: Turkey ground troops and air force conducted operations near Azaz, Syria. Azaz is located north of Aleppo four miles from the Turkey border.

The town of Dabiq has been captured by Turkey. Dabiq is approximately 25 miles northeast of Aleppo and 6 miles from the Turkey border.  This is the heart of ISIS. Their monthly magazine is named “Dabiq”. This is the location of the ultimate battle of the Islamic Sunni prophecy. This is where the infidels are taken out. ISIS believes the infidels to be “Rome” or western civilization.

October 18, 2016: Turkey is providing air support in the Mosul Offensive against ISIS. “Our air forces took part in the coalition forces’ air operations in Mosul,” Turkey Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

Turkey is not happy with their role in Mosul. They want a significantly increased role. Turkey feels obligated to help their Sunni brothers in Mosul. Their concern is the liberation of Mosul is being carried out by Shiite Iraqis.

“Military advisors” from Turkey are reported to be on the ground near Mosul, Iraq.

The book of Revelation was written from the island of Patmos. Historically Patmos was controlled by the Ottoman Empire. Today the island belongs to modern day Greece. Today, President Erdogan of Turkey is calling on populism and the glory days of the Ottoman Empire.

All seven churches in the Book of Revelation are in what is modern day Turkey. Four of the seven churches in Revelation have references to Satan. Jesus is the one talking directly to the churches. Jesus got His information from a reliable source, God the Father (Revelation 1). The four churches are: Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, and Philadelphia. Satan clearly has a foot hold in Turkey per the comments of Jesus to the churches in Revelation. Satan has a religious system and structures in place in this geographical area. If Satan’s home land and capital are modern day Turkey, would it make sense for him to establish his kingdom with his minions here?

Trend Update: Putin/Erdogan Meet in Istanbul, Turkey, October 2016

Posted in Ezekiel 38-39, Prophecy, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 10, 2016 by paulthepoke

October 10, 2016: Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting was at the World Energy Congress. This is the third meeting between the leaders since June 2016.

Putin stated Russia is a reliable energy exporter to global markets.

The highlight of the meeting was the Turkish Stream gas pipeline.  The line would allow Russian natural gas delivered directly to Turkey by the Russian Black Sea coast. From Turkey, natural gas would continue on to Greece. Natural gas capacity would be approximately 32 billion cubic meters per year. Turkey would receive approximately half of the capacity. Russia will be giving Turkey a discount on natural gas. The rest of the natural gas would be distributed to Europe.

The construction of the Akkuyu nuclear plant was also discussed. The nuclear power plant will have four 1,200 MW reactors. A Russian company will build the facility. This is a $22 billion project. The first phase of the project is to be operational by 2020. This is Turkey’s first nuclear plant.

Normalization of fruit, vegetable, and agriculture trade was announced by Putin.

The two countries are working towards free trade. President Erdogan of Turkey hopes trade levels reach $100 billion per year.

Differences due remain on the issue of Syria.

“Both Russia and Turkey support the end of the bloodshed in Syria. We share the same view that every effort should be made for humanitarian aid to be delivered to Aleppo. The only issue is the safety of the delivery of humanitarian aid,” -Vladimir Putin.

Turkey is a NATO member but is becoming cozier with Russia.

None of this was prophetically possible until Israel became a nation in 1948.

Historically, the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) and Russia (former Soviet Union) have been at odds. See the Russo-Turkish wars which began in 1568.  The series of wars finally ended in the early 20th century.

The northern gang (Russia, Turkey, Iran, and Azerbaijan) is together and getting stronger politically, economically, and militarily for Ezekiel 38-39. At some point in the future, this group along with a couple of African countries led by Russia will invade Israel per Ezekiel.

The Bible and ancient historians point to the fact the land of Magog is modern day Russia.

Russia will be joined by several countries with their future invasion of Israel (Ezekiel 38-39).

The Bible and ancient historians point to the fact the land of Magog is modern day Russia. See attached post.

For Scripture linking Meshech, Tubal, Beth Togarmah, and Gomer to modern day Turkey, see the link below.

For Scripture support indicating Persia and Elam are modern day Iran, see the link below.

It would appear the balance of power is rapidly changing in the Middle East.

August 15, 2016: Russia acquired its first permanent air base in Syria. The Khmeimim Air Base is located near Latakia, Syria on the Mediterranean Sea. With this move, some believe the balance of power in the Mediterranean has shifted to Russia.

August 16, 2016: For the first time, Russia is launching air strikes from Iran. The Iranians have agreed to give Russia access to the Hamadan Air Base in western Iran. Russia is the first foreign country allowed access to the air base. This is being reported by news outlets around the world (The Guardian, RT, Reuters, Jerusalem Post, France 24, New York Times).

RT is reporting Cyprus has offered Russia use of its air base.

Moscow, August 16, 2016: A member of Russia’s upper house of parliament and a member of Russia’s Federation Council Defense and Security Committee indicated Turkey could allow Russia access to the Incirlik Air Base. This is the same air base that is home to United States and NATO air forces. The Incirlik Air Base is alleged to house at least 50 American nuclear weapons.

August 15, 2016: A report from the non-partisan Stimson Center to the US Congress was issued. Congress was briefed about the safety of the nuclear weapons at the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. It was stated the weapons were at risk to being stolen by terrorists, the Turkey government, and/or hostile forces.
