Trend Update: God’s Fall Appointments, 2016

The God appointed fall appointments are the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles. Below is a brief 10 minute video that provides a framework for God’s fall appointed holidays.

Numbers 29:1 ‘Now in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall also have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. It will be to you a day for blowing trumpets.

See also Leviticus 23:23-25.

The first fall holiday has many names. It is called the Feast of Trumpets by Christians. It is recognized as the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Some refer to it as the “Hidden Day” or the “Wedding of the Messiah”. In Judaism, it is called Yom Teruah which means the “Day of Blowing”.

It is the beginning of the civil new year. The date for the Yom Teruah is near October 2-3, 2016 (traditional Hebrew calendar) depending on the sighting of the new moon. The new year begins when the new moon is confirmed by two witnesses.

The second fall holiday is the Day of Atonement. See Leviticus 16. Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement is celebrated on Tishri 10th. It is the last day of the 40 day period of Teshuvah. This holiday is viewed at the holiest day of Judaism. The day is a Sabbath day of rest. Yom Kippur is the only day a fast is required. The day begins at sun down. This is the busiest day of the year for the high priest with multiple animal sacrifices. The beginning for the Day of Atonement in 2016 is October 11 at sun down.

Leviticus 23:33-36 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the LORD. On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work of any kind. For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the LORD; it is an assembly. You shall do no laborious work.’”

The third and last fall holiday on God’s calendar is Tabernacles. It is also called Sukkot, the Feast of Booths, the Festival of Tents, or the Feast of the Harvest because it was after the harvest in the fall. Simply put, it was also called “the feast” or “the festival”. This festival is a week-long festival from Tishri 15 to 21 on a Hebrew calendar. On our western Gregorian calendar, in 2016, the Feast of Tabernacles will be observed from October 16-23.

There are seven God appointed holidays communicated through the Old Testament Law. The first four were fulfilled to the day by Jesus Himself with His death, burial, resurrection, and the giving of the Holy Spirit. If the first four spring holidays were fulfilled on the God appointed holiday, why would the fall holidays be any different?

Trend Update: Dead Sea Resurrecting to Life, August 2016

Genesis 13:10 Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere— this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.

The Dead Sea area is believed to be the home of Sodom and Gomorrah. Scholars point to the southeastern tip of the Dead Sea as the location. In the past, it was not a barren desert and wasteland. This area was compared to the Garden of Eden in Genesis 13. The Hebrew grammar makes the point the area was well watered everywhere. Destruction of the area is estimated around 2,000 BC with God’s judgment. The area has been literally dead for approximately 4,000 years. See Genesis 19 for details.

Ezekiel 47:8-10 And he said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, and enters the sea; when the water flows into the sea, the water will become fresh. And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. Fishermen will stand beside the sea. From Engedi to Eneglaim it will be a place for the spreading of nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.

The context and location of these two verses in Ezekiel is the promised, future Temple in Jerusalem during the reign of the Messiah, Jesus. This is another example of a future Temple. Water flowing from Jerusalem to the east has to go to the Dead Sea. Currently in 2016, there is no river from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea. The Jordan River is the only water source to the Sea.

These verses are stating the water of the Dead Sea is so incapable of life and beyond sick. Today, the Dead Sea is 10 times saltier than the oceans. But life giving water from Jerusalem and the Temple will heal and resurrect the Dead Sea.

Engedi is on the western shore of the Dead Sea approximately at the halfway point. Eneglaim is believed to be on the northern tip of Dead Sea where the Jordan River spills into the sea. The reference to Eneglaim is the only occurrence in the Bible. This is roughly 20-25 miles between the two locations. The amount and diversity of fish will be consistent with the Mediterranean Sea. (http://biblehub.com/commentaries/ezekiel/47-10.htm)

During 2011, divers from Ben Gurion University went to the bottom of the Dead Sea. Craters (15 X 20 meters) were noted with fresh water flowing out of them. Microorganisms were observed to coat the craters. Signs of life were noted at the bottom of the Dead Sea.

In the summer of 2016, fresh water ponds with fish have been reported near the shores of the Dead Sea. Green vegetation is beginning to sprout. Ducks are moving back into the area.

Zechariah 14:8 And in that day living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.

Here is another verse indicating life giving, fresh water will flow from Jerusalem to the east and down towards the Dead Sea. The context of this verse is the Messiah standing on the Mount of Olives. The culmination of Zechariah 14 is the great earthquake that splits the Mount in two leaving a valley.

It appears this process is beginning to take place. The Dead Sea is resurrecting back to life.

Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah/Feast of Trumpets, 2015

yomteruah

The Feast of Trumpets is the only new moon holiday on God’s calendar. Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish civil New Year, the head of years. The terms Rosh Hashanah, Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah, Jewish New Year, Hidden Day, New Moon Festival are synonymous.

This year, 2015 on the Gregorian calendar, the holiday begins on September 13. Yom Teruah is officially declared when the crescent of the new moon is observed by two witness and confirmed by the high priest. By definition, it is a holiday no one knows the day or hour.

God operates on a lunar calendar. Jews have utilized the following procedure every month for thousands of years. It is called Rosh Chodesh which means “head of the month”. At the end of a lunar cycle, the moon is dark and is not seen for 2-3 days. So, the new moon could be identified during this 2-3 day period …of that day or hour no one knows…

There are people who are trained witnesses to identify the new moon. They are outside of Jerusalem when the moon goes dark and they are looking for the tiny sliver to emerge. If you are interested, see this website.

This year (September 13, 2015) is unique. There will be a partial solar eclipse occurring on God’s appointed holiday, Yom Teruah. A celestial event as a time marker on God’s appointment. God says He uses the sun, moon, and stars to communicate to humanity.

Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

Yom Teruah is set aside by God with prophetic implications. The Feast of Trumpets is a promise for the future. Jesus is the reason. Resurrection and rapture, He makes it happen. The issue may not be the hour or the day. The issue may be the year…

Does the information God communicated to Moses on Mount Sinai thousands of years ago really matter to us today in 2015 and beyond?

Antichrist, The Beast/Resurrection???, Part 5

Posted in Antichrist/Beast, Gospel, Prophecy, Resurrection with tags , , , , , , on February 15, 2015 by paulthepoke

Revelation 13:3-4 I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast; they worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?”

Is this a fake death and false resurrection? Or does the antichrist really die and come back to life?

as if it had been slain, “as if” or hos in the original Greek per Strong’s Concordance means: comparative, as, like, even as, etc. The word for “slain” is sphazo. It means: to slay, slaughter, butcher to put to death by violence, or mortally wounded. Sphazo is the same word used to describe the death of Christ on the cross in Revelation 5:12 …Worthy is the Lamb that was slain… It is also the same word used to describe how Cain killed his brother Abel in 1 John 3:12.

… and his fatal wound was healed.

The word for “wound” in the original Greek is plege. It also means:  blow or stripe. The wound is described as “fatal” or thanatos. The meaning of thanatos is as follows: the death of the body; that separation (whether natural or violent) of the soul and the body by which the life on earth is ended; with the implied idea of future misery in hell; the power of death.

The antichrist or beast appears to be dead or literally, physically dies. Then, therapeuo, he is healed, cured, and restored to health.

There are two other verses in Revelation that allude to this “resurrection” event as well. They are reminders of what happened previously in 13:3-4.

Revelation 13:12b …And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.

Revelation 13:14b … to make an image to the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life.

Does the antichrist beast demonstrate a resurrection from the dead? I will leave that to the individual reader to decide. The bottom line, the event is convincing (Editorial note: Satan is the father of lies per Jesus, John 8:44). How can you compete with this guy? He came back from the dead… and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?”

All of these happenings leave us with a choice. Which resurrection do you believe, the antichrist or Christ?

What is promised if you follow the antichrist? The beast will offer lots of big talk and promises. He will trash talk God and Jesus. He will lead in tyranny. Eventually, one can join him in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:10-15).

But if you believe in the resurrection of the Prince of Peace…You have the power over death.

1 Corinthians 15:54-57 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashanah/Feast of Trumpets, Part 1

Leviticus 23:23-25 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.  You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord.’”

Numbers 29:1 ‘Now in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall also have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. It will be to you a day for blowing trumpets.

And blow the trumpets they do. This holiday has many names. It is called the Feast of Trumpets by Christians. It is recognized as the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. In Judaism, it is called Yom Teruah which means the “Day of Blowing”.

The directions for the holiday are straight forward. 1) It is to be a day of rest or a Sabbath. 2) The day is a holy or separate day. It is a convocation. The Hebrew word for convocation is miqra’. Per Strong’s Concordance it means: rehearsal, convocation, a reading, a calling together, or sacred assembly. 3) It is a memorial and reminder to blow or shout. The Hebrew word is teruah. It means: alarm, signal, a sound of tempest, shout of joy, blast of war, alarm, joy, war-cry, or battle-cry.

Judaism recognizes three trumps: first trump, the last trump, and the great trump. Each one of these named trumps represents a specific day. The “first trump” is blown on the Feast of Pentecost (Exodus 19:19). The “great trump” is blown on Yom Kippur and signals the return of Christ to Earth (Matthew 24:31). The “last trump” is synonymous with Yom Teruah or Rosh Hashanah (1 Corinthians 15:52). Resources: Festivals of the Jewish Year, Theodore Gaster; The High Holy Days, Herman Kieval.

This God appointed holiday is the only new moon observance. This is not some Old Testament warm and fuzzy tradition. God has a point and a reason. He has not forgotten. The Apostle Paul makes note of this holiday in Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

God has singled out this appointed holiday for some big time fireworks! Judaism has been rehearsing this holiday for thousands of years since Moses. Has the Apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed) connected the dots… (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.)

Resurrection and rapture on the Feast of Trumpets???

Elul…Blow the Horn!

Posted in Fall Feasts, Prophecy, Rapture, Resurrection, Teshuvah/Repent with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 1, 2014 by paulthepoke

Elul 1 marks the beginning of Teshuvah. In a Gregorian calendar in the year 2014, this would be August 27 or 28 depending on when the new moon is confirmed. Teshuvah is a 40 day period that runs through the holiday of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. It is Jewish custom to blow a shofar (ram’s horn) one time every day during the season of Teshuvah. The trumpet is blown every day except Shabbat or the Sabbath (Saturday for us in western culture) and the last day of month of Elul. The trumpet is blown after the morning service. The shofar is blown frequently…

The blowing of the shofar started with Moses and the Israelites at Mount Sinai. The blowing of the shofar is associated with God descending to Mount Sinai and the gathering of nation Israel. This is where Moses is called to ascend the mountain to meet God (Exodus 19:13-19). This is when and where Israel received the law.

The blowing of a shofar signaled many things in Biblical times. The shofar blast was a call to war and the prospect of danger. Joel 2:1 Blow a trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming; surely it is near…The shofar was a way to call soldiers. The trumpet preceded the Ark of the Covenant. 2 Samuel 6:15 So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouting and the sound of the trumpet.

The trumpet blast signified the beginning of the month (Numbers 10:10). Psalm 81:3-4 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our feast day. For it is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob. Some form of a trumpet blast(s) is used at Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). A trumpet blast also signals the beginning of Jubilee (Leviticus 25).

One of the customs of Elul is to visit a cemetery. This is quite interesting in light of the Jewish belief that the resurrection will occur during the period of Teshuvah. Specifically, the resurrection is to occur on the new moon holiday of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Christians refer to this as the Feast of Trumpets. Orthodox Jews do not believe in Christ let alone the New Testament. Apostle Paul’s letter to the Corinthians would confirm their tradition. 1 Corinthians 15:52b at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

Resurrection/Rapture…at the last trumpet…

Posted in Fall Feasts, Prophecy, Rapture, Resurrection with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 10, 2014 by paulthepoke

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

… at the last trumpet… There is a lot of discussion and debate regarding this phrase. What is the reference? Let’s go back to Moses and the book of Leviticus.

Leviticus 23:23-25 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. ‘You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD.’”

This holiday is also referenced in Numbers 29:1 On the first day of the seventh month, you are to hold a holy assembly. You must not do your ordinary work, for it is a day of blowing trumpets for you.

This holiday is known as the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. It has many other names including: Yom Teruah (day of blowing), Day of Judgment, or the Hidden Day. Christians refer to this as the Feast of Trumpets.

Jews have rehearsed and celebrated this holiday every year for thousands of years. The Hebrew grammar suggests this is a dress rehearsal for an appointed date and time. The holiday consists of a pattern of shofar (ram’s horn) blasts. There are three different sounds. Each is blown three times for a total of 9 blasts. This pattern is completed 11 times for a total of 99 blasts. The last blast is set aside. It is the longest and loudest. It is known as the “Last Trump”. References provided by (El Shaddai Ministries, http://www.jewfaq.org, http://www.chabad.org, http://www.myjewishlearning.com).

Is the Apostle Paul communicating a time point?

Colossians 2:16-17 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day— things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

This new moon festival is set aside as mere shadow of what is to come. God has appointed this holiday as a day of prophetic significance. The substance belongs to Christ. I take it Jesus has BIG PLANS for this holiday at some point in the future. There is only one new moon festival in God’s appointed Jewish Holidays. It is the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Teruah, the Hidden Day, the Day of Judgment…
