Sukkot/Tabernacles 5783/2022

Leviticus 23:33-36 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the LORD. On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work of any kind. For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the LORD; it is an assembly. You shall do no laborious work.’”

When working in the fields during harvest, people lived in tents. The tents served as a reminder of the forty years of wandering in the desert after the Exodus from Egypt. The holiday is a reminder of the provision and safety God showed Israel during their travels in the desert as noted in Deuteronomy 8. The feast is a thanksgiving for the harvest of grapes (Exodus 23:16). It is to be a joyous festival (Deuteronomy 16:14). Sabbatical rest without work is part of the holiday. (New Manners and Customs of Bible Times).

This is the last of God’s appointed feasts or festivals. This holiday is known by many names. It is called the Feast of Tabernacles, Sukkot, the Feast of Booths, the Festival of Tents, or the Feast of the Harvest because it is after the harvest in the fall. Simply put, it is also called “the feast” or “the festival”.

The new moon was identified in Israel on Tuesday, September 27th, 2022. Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles/15th Day of the 7th Month is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 11th at sunset. As calculated by modern man, Tabernacles is scheduled to begin on sunset Sunday, October 9th through Sunday, October 16th, 2022.

Tishri is the seventh month on a Hebrew calendar. This festival is a week-long festival from Tishri 15 to 21.

Tabernacles is the last of three festivals where men are required to make a road trip to Jerusalem and go to the Temple.

Per Zechariah 14:16-19, the Feast of Booths is the only God appointed holiday gentile nations will be required to attend. The nations will be required to go before the Lord Jesus Christ during the Feast of Booths. For those nations who do not attend, no rain for your crops.

Zechariah 14:16-19 Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. And should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, then the rain will not fall on them. And if the family of Egypt does not go up or enter, then no rain will fall on them; it will be the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths. This will be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths.

There Shall Be Seven Weeks: Feasts (Feast of Tabernacles/Sukkot/Booths)

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Angels, Fall Feasts, Prophecy with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 22, 2021 by paulthepoke

Daniel 9:25b …there shall be seven weeks…

The context of this series of posts is the course of the Jewish people for the initial 49 years of the 483 year period communicated from the angel Gabriel to the prophet Daniel. The city of Jerusalem has been rebuilt post exile. These events are covered in Nehemiah 8-13. Israel is returning to God’s Law. The focus is on God’s appointed holidays. This week, the Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot is the topic.

This is the last of God’s appointed feasts or festivals. This holiday is known by many names. It is called the Feast of Tabernacles, Sukkot, the Feast of Booths, the Festival of Tents, or the Feast of the Harvest because it was after the harvest in the fall. Simply put, it was also called “the feast” or “the festival”.

This festival is a week-long festival from Tishri 15 to 21.

Jews sing Isaiah 12:3 Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation, during Sukkot. The feast is a reminder to the Jewish people they lived in tents after the Exodus from Egypt. In addition, the Feast of Tabernacles requires sacrifices of sin offerings and burnt offerings. At the time of preparation for the morning sacrifice, a priest descends to the Pool of Siloam amidst great music, celebration, and singing of Isaiah 12:3, and fills a golden pitcher with water. After dipping his pitcher in Siloam’s water, the priest returns to the Temple Mount and pours the water into one of the silver basins by the altar (Wayne Stiles, Insight for Living).

All three members of the Trinity will dwell with humanity. Isaiah 12 refers to the promise of the Holy Spirit and the reign of Jesus. The Holy Spirit was given to believers of Christ at Pentecost (Acts 2) and ushered in the Church Age. He will return on the Mount of Olives with an earthquake.

Zechariah 14:4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south.

Revelation 19 has Jesus returning to Earth to initiate his 1,000 year reign and He will live with humanity.

The ultimate expression of “the feast” after the Millennial Kingdom is with God and the New Jerusalem.

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them…

And He is going to live and dwell with us, forever…

Temple Mount Shofar Blowing Denied on Rosh Hashanah, 5781

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Fall Feasts, Prophecy, Sanhedrin, Trend Update with tags , , , , on September 20, 2020 by paulthepoke

Temple Mount, Rosh Hashanah 5781/2020: For this year, the shofar was not allowed to be blown on the Temple Mount.

Numbers 29:1 ‘Now in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall also have a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work. It will be to you a day for blowing trumpets.

The Sanhedrin and the Shalom Jerusalem Foundation had requested to blow the shofar on the Temple Mount to bring in the secular Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. In Judaism, it is called Yom Teruah which means the “Day of Blowing”. The appointment is called the Feast of Trumpets by Christians.

Although, they were not allowed to blow a shofar on the Temple Mount… it did not stop them from playing recordings of a shofar from their cell phones on the Temple Mount.

Click on the video from Yehuda Glick as he provides commentary before he blows the shofar from the Mount of Olives across the valley from the Temple Mount. Listen closely, it was a bit windy on the Mount of Olives.

For those of you who are not familiar with Yehuda Glick, he has led a most interesting life.

Yehuda Glick was a member of the Israeli Knesset from 2016-2019. After serving his term, Glick founded the Shalom Jerusalem Foundation. A stated goal of the foundation is to “pave the road for the rebuilding of the Third Temple”. Check out the link to the Shalom Jerusalem Foundation.

In 2014, Yehuda Glick took multiple gun shots from an intended assassin and survived. He is the same rabbi who was the head of the Temple Institute in Jerusalem. He believes Jews should be able to pray on the Temple Mount. Previously, Glick has stated a vision of three faiths (Islam, Christianity and Judaism) sharing the Temple Mount.

Red Heifer Update: Heifer Burning Practice

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Prophecy, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , on October 16, 2019 by paulthepoke

Numbers 19:5-6 And the heifer shall be burned in his sight. Its skin, its flesh, and its blood, with its dung, shall be burned. And the priest shall take cedarwood and hyssop and scarlet yarn, and throw them into the fire burning the heifer.

Before the third Temple will be built, a red heifer must be burned for purification. Rabbis at the Temple Institute have established qualifications for the red heifer as noted in Numbers 19:1-2. See the link below for the specifics.

https://www.templeinstitute.org/red_heifer/red_heifer_requirements.htm

Heifer burning practice has been initiated. Granted, the heifer was slaughtered outside of Jerusalem and not on the Temple Mount. So technically, this was not a sacrifice in the strictest sense. Below is an overview from an article published by Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz at Breaking Israel News. See the link for more details.

https://www.breakingisraelnews.com/135387/exclusive-burning-red-heifer-takes-place-preparation-third-temple/

The location of the burning of the heifer was on the Mount of Olives. The event lasted about 9 hours.

Professor Zohar Amar, Department of Land of Israel Studies at Bar-Ilan University made the following comments.

“A simulated experiment of burning a red heifer was conducted to investigate several research questions, such as: How much wood was required to burn a red heifer completely to ashes and how much ash actually remained after the burning? How is it possible that ashes from immolating one heifer, as it appears in the sources, can supply  ritual purposes for many years?”

Photo: Zohar Amar

“The design of the entire experiment took many months, and the implementation itself was carried out far from the eye of the public and the media. Only after analyzing the results did it become possible to publish it. In the course of the experiment, all of the specifications mentioned in the sources were reconstructed, beginning with the excavation of a ‘winepress; a rectangular pit, in which the pyre was built of dried wood of the pine, oak, and fig trees.”

To be clear, a red heifer was not sacrificed.

“For the purpose of the experiment, a mature sick heifer was selected of the Baladi breed which was prevalent in ancient Israel.”

“A continuous and intense fire is required since the red heifer must be completely consumed, bones and all.”

Professor Amar indicated the following based on his research. A half-ton heifer would require 5.2 tons of wood, or five kilograms wood for every kilogram of flesh.

In the article, there are specific details regarding the size and type of wood utilized. The shape and construction of the pyre was noted. The placement of the heifer and orientation of the heifer were detailed. Notes were taken during the nine hour burning process. Temperature of the fire was taken (940 degrees Celsius). Amount of wood consumed was considered. The amount of ash produced was documented.

Rabbi Azariah Ariel of the Temple Institute is in charge of the search for a red heifer.

“We still do not have a certifiable red heifer. We are currently checking out two calves of the Angus breed that are five months old. For them to be considered heifers, as the Bible describes, they must be two years and one day old. There can be no blemish, no holes in the ear. If two hairs are not red, the heifer is unfit. There are Halachic issues with them right now since a few hairs may not be the correct shade of red, though this may be rectified as they get older.”

As many Christians are acutely aware, animal sacrifices for sin are no longer required. However, these things are still prophesied…

Hebrews 9:22 And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

As the red heifer was and will be again sacrificed outside the city limits of Jerusalem, so was Jesus Christ. As the sacrifice of the red heifer is for the purification and consecration of the people of Israel, so was and is Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 13:12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered outside the gate.

Christ’s sacrifice is not only for the people of Israel, but for all the people of the world. He is the sacrifice for all sin for all time.

1 John 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Tabernacles is the last of three festivals where men are required to make a road trip to Jerusalem and go to the Temple.

In October 2019 (Gregorian calendar), per the sighting of the new moon, “The Feast” is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 14th and proceed through Sunday, October 20th. On a secular Gregorian calendar with astronomical calculations, “The Festival” will begin on Sunday, October 13th.

Sanhedrin Looks to Replace United Nations and Re-Enacts Noahide Sacrifice

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Prophecy, Sanhedrin, Trend Update with tags , , , , , on September 28, 2019 by paulthepoke

Genesis 8:20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

The following article (italics) is from Breaking Israel News.

The Sanhedrin is advocating for the establishment of an Organization of 70 nations based on Mount Zion and as part of this effort, facilitated an animal sacrifice to renew the covenant that Noah made in the name of all mankind with God when he exited the Ark. That sacrifice took place on Thursday on the Mount of Olives. I reported on the event and would like to give a personal account here but first I feel I must begin with several disclaimers…

https://www.breakingisraelnews.com/137884/the-70-nations-sacrifice-on-the-mount-of-olives-a-personal-account/

Before everyone in the Christian community gets all excited and freaks out about animal sacrifices… A few thoughts on the article.

Yes, this was an animal sacrifice. This was not a sin offering. The point was to renew Noah’s covenant on behalf of the gentile world. This sacrifice was not taking the place of Jesus.

Yes, Jesus is our sacrifice for our sins. And yes, animal sacrifices for sin are no longer necessary.

Hebrews 7:27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since He did this once for all when He offered up Himself.

Hebrews 10:10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Hebrews 10:12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God…

Hebrews 9:13-14 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

Photo: Breaking Israel News

Yes, the animal sacrificial system will be re-instituted in Jerusalem. It is inevitable. This is a sign of the time leading up to the return of Christ. It is prophecy from Jesus Himself as He quoted the prophet Daniel.

Yes, the verses below from Daniel indicate there will be a Temple standing at this time. The Temple is going to happen. And yes, as believers in Christ our bodies are the temple indwelled with the Holy Spirit.

Daniel 9:27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.

Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days.

Please consider how to approach any one who does not believe in Jesus or Yeshua as Jews know His name. Please read the article and understand a Jewish mindset who does not believe in Yeshua.

I would encourage followers of Christ to approach those who do not know Yeshua in kindness, grace, and mercy. Go easy. Eventually, they are going take this very personally. This is how God or Hashem is going to reach His chosen people.

Zechariah 12:10 I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.

Zechariah 12:3 On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.

The United Nations (UN) has called an emergency meeting for Monday, July 24, 2017. The issue is the violence in Jerusalem surrounding the Temple Mount.

Sweden, France, and Egypt have called for the meeting. The news was given to the world by a tweet. Sweden ambassador to the Security Council Carl Skau made the following statement on Twitter.

Sweden, France & Egypt request #UNSC to urgently discuss how calls for de-escalation in #Jerusalem can be supported.

https://twitter.com/CarlSkau/status/888820255996469249

The Mideast Quartet (United States, European Union, Russia, and United Nations) made the following public statement, “(We) Strongly condemn acts of terror, express their regret for all loss of innocent life caused by the violence, and hope for a speedy recovery to the wounded.”

The Quartet also expressed to “demonstrate maximum restraint, refrain from provocative actions and work towards de-escalating the situation.”

On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, the UN will have their open monthly meeting on the Middle East.

The Muslim population is against the idea of passing through metal detectors to gain access to the Temple Mount. The Muslim population is against the idea of any security measures. This is per a tweet from Khaled Abu Toameh who is a journalist and TV producer.

Across a hashtag #لا_أنصاف_حلول. Jerusalemites profess reject all solutions that promotes occupation through informed rather than portals.

This same attitude is conveyed in an article in the Times of Israel. The title of the article…Arab MK: ‘Whole Arab world will rise up’ if Israel doesn’t remove metal detectors

http://www.timesofisrael.com/arab-mk-arab-world-will-rise-up-if-israel-doesnt-remove-temple-mt-metal-detectors/

July 23, 2017: The Israeli Embassy in Amman, Jordan came under attack. A stabbing of an Israeli security officer was attempted. The terrorist was killed and two others were injured.

July 21, 2017: A Jewish family was attacked during supper on Friday night north of Jerusalem in Halamish. A terrorist entered the home and stabbed three people to death.

Violence between Palestinians and Israelis has occurred south of Jerusalem in Hebron near the Tomb of the Patriarchs.

Clashes continue to occur in East Jerusalem or what we know as the Mount of Olives. A reminder of what the future holds on the Mount of Olives…

Zechariah 14:4 On that day His feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward.

Trend Update: Dead Sea Resurrecting to Life, August 2016

Posted in Prophecy, Resurrection, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 3, 2016 by paulthepoke

Genesis 13:10 Lot lifted up his eyes and saw all the valley of the Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere— this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah—like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go to Zoar.

The Dead Sea area is believed to be the home of Sodom and Gomorrah. Scholars point to the southeastern tip of the Dead Sea as the location. In the past, it was not a barren desert and wasteland. This area was compared to the Garden of Eden in Genesis 13. The Hebrew grammar makes the point the area was well watered everywhere. Destruction of the area is estimated around 2,000 BC with God’s judgment. The area has been literally dead for approximately 4,000 years. See Genesis 19 for details.

Ezekiel 47:8-10 And he said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, and enters the sea; when the water flows into the sea, the water will become fresh. And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. Fishermen will stand beside the sea. From Engedi to Eneglaim it will be a place for the spreading of nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.

The context and location of these two verses in Ezekiel is the promised, future Temple in Jerusalem during the reign of the Messiah, Jesus. This is another example of a future Temple. Water flowing from Jerusalem to the east has to go to the Dead Sea. Currently in 2016, there is no river from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea. The Jordan River is the only water source to the Sea.

These verses are stating the water of the Dead Sea is so incapable of life and beyond sick. Today, the Dead Sea is 10 times saltier than the oceans. But life giving water from Jerusalem and the Temple will heal and resurrect the Dead Sea.

Engedi is on the western shore of the Dead Sea approximately at the halfway point. Eneglaim is believed to be on the northern tip of Dead Sea where the Jordan River spills into the sea. The reference to Eneglaim is the only occurrence in the Bible. This is roughly 20-25 miles between the two locations. The amount and diversity of fish will be consistent with the Mediterranean Sea. (http://biblehub.com/commentaries/ezekiel/47-10.htm)

During 2011, divers from Ben Gurion University went to the bottom of the Dead Sea. Craters (15 X 20 meters) were noted with fresh water flowing out of them. Microorganisms were observed to coat the craters. Signs of life were noted at the bottom of the Dead Sea.

In the summer of 2016, fresh water ponds with fish have been reported near the shores of the Dead Sea. Green vegetation is beginning to sprout. Ducks are moving back into the area.

http://www.breakingisraelnews.com/72711/fulfillment-dead-sea-prophecy-begun/#WKorD43rEy0oXuoW.97

http://www.breakingisraelnews.com/72816/story-behind-viral-dead-sea-prophecy-coming-life/#UPpmoyVZkHr8HQ2b.97

Zechariah 14:8 And in that day living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.

Here is another verse indicating life giving, fresh water will flow from Jerusalem to the east and down towards the Dead Sea. The context of this verse is the Messiah standing on the Mount of Olives. The culmination of Zechariah 14 is the great earthquake that splits the Mount in two leaving a valley.

It appears this process is beginning to take place. The Dead Sea is resurrecting back to life.

Trend Update: Mount of Olives, Passover 2016

Posted in Prophecy, Spring Feasts, Trend Update with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 4, 2016 by paulthepoke

Zechariah 14:4 On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward.

On the Mount of Olives east of the Temple Mount on Monday, April 25, 2016, a Passover sacrifice ceremony was held. Over 400 people attended the event. Multiple public figures and officials stated hope for the day the Dome of the Rock and al Aksa Mosque would be removed from the Temple Mount. They believe the time is now to raze the area and purify the land.

http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Participants-in-paschal-lamb-ceremony-voice-hope-to-one-day-raze-Temple-Mount-451757

You can bet your last shekel those attending this Passover ceremony know the verse in Zechariah (name means: Yahweh remembers).

The Mount of Olives is roughly 3,000 feet or a little over ½ mile from the Temple Mount. As the crowd looked across to the Temple Mount, they see the Eastern Gate or the Golden Gate. Currently the gate is considered the property of the Muslims. They have sealed it with brick and mortar. In front of the gate is a Muslim cemetery. Little do they know, they are the instruments of prophecy fulfillment.

Ezekiel 44:1-3 Then he brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary, which faces east. And it was shut. And the LORD said to me, “This gate shall remain shut; it shall not be opened, and no one shall enter by it, for the LORD, the God of Israel, has entered by it. Therefore it shall remain shut. Only the prince may sit in it to eat bread before the LORD. He shall enter by way of the vestibule of the gate, and shall go out by the same way.”

The prophet Ezekiel was told by the LORD. The Hebrew word for LORD is Yahweh, The Existing One. This is the definitive name of God. And He says only the Prince may enter this gate. This is His gate. It is stated four times in Ezekiel 44:2, the gate is to remain closed to others. Yahweh is in charge of this gate.

Fast forward roughly 500-600 years from the prophets to the ascension of Jesus into Heaven. Jesus ascended from the Mount of Olives. He is promised to return in the same manner.

Acts 1:11-12 …and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

Trend Update: Temple Mount, Passover 2016

The Bible details many temples across the span of time. The first was the Tabernacle or the Tent of Meeting as the Hebrew people wandered through the desert after their exodus from Egypt. Next was Solomon’s Temple. During the time of Jesus, Herod’s temple was in existence. Herod’s Temple was destroyed in 70 AD. It has been close to 2,000 years since the Jewish people have worshipped at their Temple in Jerusalem. The Bible speaks of a Temple during the Tribulation. Jesus will have a Millennial Temple during His reign. The book of Revelation and the prophet Isaiah speak of a Heavenly Temple and the throne room of God.

Matthew 24:15-16 “So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.” –Jesus

See also Mark 13:14.

2 Thessalonians 2:4 …who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

Revelation 11:1-2 Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there, but do not measure the outer courtyard, for it has been turned over to the nations. They will trample the holy city for 42 months.

The Spring Passover of 2016 has come to an end. During the holiday approximately 850 Jews went up and on the Temple Mount during the week. Two Jewish men even bowed to the ground and began to worship. This was met with immediate resistance. It is illegal for Jews to worship on the Temple Mount per agreement and Muslim law. Public opinion and perception are changing. Jewish people are wanting to go and pray on the Temple Mount. Some are being more aggressive and attempting marriages on the mount. Some are suggesting that animal sacrifices be carried out on the Temple Mount.
