Reaching Out… Paul Beverly

Posted in #PaulthePoke, Paul Beverly with tags , on October 20, 2020 by paulthepoke

It saddens me deeply when a life is lost too soon. We never know what someone else is fighting on the inside. Be kind to everyone. Be there for them. Be someone that hopefully they can come to when they are struggling. Depression is so real & so scary. It feels like you’re alone, even if you’re around others a lot. If you are struggling, reach out to others. There are those of us that want to help & understand. Reach out to God, because he does truly heal.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the broken-hearted & binds up their wounds.

Have a healing week my friends!!!

Straight Talk, The Holy Spirit Has a Word… Rodna Epley

Posted in Rodna Epley with tags , , , , , , , , on December 19, 2018 by paulthepoke

Anyone experiencing depression, fear, anxiety, or condemnation right now? If so, the Holy Spirit has a Word for you.

“Fear not, for I (am) with you; Be not dismayed, for I (am) your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” – Isaiah 41:10

Now read it again and emphasize the pronoun “I” in the command, “Be not dismayed, for I…am your God”. Depression broke off of me after I read it that way because it separated light from dark. It separated in my mind who God is from who the enemy is and caused me to know that God is not the one making me afraid.

Here is the Scripture again with all the meaning The Holy Spirit gave to me after I did more research in the Hebrew behind the words. This is my version with revelation intact…

Do not be afraid, for I am right beside you and in you; Do not look away from me or steadily gaze at that thing in front of you to receive anxiety or fear or condemnation or depression from it, because I…am your God, not that thing in front of you, and I don’t give you those things. I give you opposite things. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Our Father in Heaven didn’t create us for depression and fear, etc. He created us for glory and honor. He formed us and He made us in His image. God loves us and He isn’t the one condemning or accusing us. Not at all. God isn’t punishing us. He punished Jesus instead of us. So any time we feel condemned, judged, accused or that God has abandoned us, we can be 100% certain the devil is the one telling us that. God is teaching His children how to separate light from darkness, and how to say “no” to the enemy, and “yes” to God’s promises.

“Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” – Isaiah 43:7

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions…”- Titus 2:11-12

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…”- Romans 8:1

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach the good news to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” – Isaiah 61:1-3

Blessings to everyone who has struggled with fear, depression, anxiety, condemnation, and feeling abandoned by God (you are not abandoned by Him at all and never will be; feelings are deceiving). I am praying for you. ❤️

“I will never leave you, nor abandon you.” – Hebrews 13:5

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor abandon you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

“If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect…Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” No!

“…we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (and still loves us and will always love us). For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:31-39

Our Daily Bread… Featuring Paul Beverly

Just now seeing that Anthony Bourdain has died from an apparent suicide. This is incredibly sad & proves that you honestly never know what a person is struggling with or feeling on the inside. Even those that are the most successful & seem the happiest have struggles. Depression is so real & so scary. You feel you don’t matter. You feel dying is better than the pain you’re feeling. It’s a disease that puts these false feelings in your brain. I promise, every single person matters & is loved. We as a society need to choose kindness & love way more often in our lives. We can make a difference. I pray everyone can find peace in their lives. RIP Mr Bourdain.

suicide

In a world that is far too often filled with hate & cruelty, I will choose kindness & love. I know how it makes me feel when others treat me with kindness, so I’ll always try to choose to make others feel they matter as well. Let’s make love & kindness contagious.

Proverbs 19:17 Whoever generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

Proverbs 11:17 A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself.

You’ll always have the choice to be kind, choose it! It doesn’t cost a thing & is so valuable… Have a kind week my friends!!!

kindness

There is never a good time to be selfish, but especially this time of year when others are struggling with depression & loneliness. This can be the loneliest time of year for some. Every small act of kindness can change someone’s day. It is a busy time of the year. It takes little effort or time to brighten someone’s day & make them feel that they matter. Be a blessing to others.

Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Luke 6:31 And as you wish others would do to you, do also to them.

Have an unselfish week my friends!!!

Finished the last episode of 13 Reasons Why this morning. I do not believe this show glorifies suicide. It shows the truth. The truth of another person’s pain. The truth of bullying. The truth of rape. I believe every parent & teen should watch this show to understand more about suicide, depression, & pain. A person full of hurt will ask for help in their own way, however subtle it may be. Hopefully we can make it better. That being said, it’s not our job to determine when it’s our time to go, only God has this power in the way things should be. If you’re hurting, please ask for help. You are loved.

Ecclesiastes 7:17 Be not overly wicked, neither be a fool. Why should you die before your time?

It took me a long time to figure out, but I’ve learned I can’t do life alone or in my own way. I have to go to God every day for guidance. I have to listen & do life His way. I’d be completely lost & a huge mess if not for Him. Doing things my way led to depression. It made me want to hide from the world & want to stop living. I am thankful that my Father in Heaven was looking out for me. Go to God for everything!

Psalm 34:17-18 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears & delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken-hearted & saves the crushed in spirit.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

Have a wonderful weekend my friends!!!

Isaiah 3:1-3 Societal Collapse

Posted in Isaiah with tags , , , , , , , , , on February 19, 2012 by paulthepoke

Isaiah 3:1 For behold, the Lord GOD of hosts is going to remove from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support, the whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water…

Isaiah 3 is a judgment against Jerusalem and Judah (the southern kingdom of Israel). As an overview of the chapter, God initially takes away food and water from the city and nation. Next, God removes older and experienced leadership and replaces them with young, inexperienced leadership. Judgment against the women of Israel is pronounced due to their attitude of materialism. Lastly, the men of the society are killed by the sword of war.

The idea expressed in the Hebrew grammar of verse 1 is the entirety of supplies and provisions, a complete removal of bread and a complete removal of water. Wycliffe’s Bible Commentary has inferred this is possibly caused by drought. Utter famine and dehydration have fallen on Jerusalem and the southern kingdom.

Isaiah 3:2-3 The mighty man and the warrior, the judge and the prophet, the diviner and the elder, the captain of fifty and the honorable man, the counselor and the expert artisan, and the skillful enchanter.

Leadership is being removed from Israel. A lack of leadership is a judgment from God. That is a frightening thought when we look at the state of our country today in 2012. Do we really have leadership or are we run by polling, focus groups, or what’s trending on the internet?

The removal is regarding all aspects of society. The mighty man speaks to bravery. The warrior is military strength. The legal system is impacted with the removal of judges. Judicial fairness was not being executed and favoritism and bribes were the flavor of the day. Does this sound familiar? Essentially there was a complete breakdown of government. This is the ultimate outcome of society with a lack of leadership.

There is a removal of the moral and religious fabric of society. Granted some of these folks are false prophets, sorcerers, and diviners but they too are removed along with legitimate leaders. There was not Godly leadership in society. How does our culture view Judeo-Christian values in leadership in general?

Legitimate secular and corporate leadership were removed from the culture. Those who possessed wise counsel and advice were deleted. Technical expertise and a skilled labor force were no more. There were no people to build things. Manufacturing had dried up. Removal of work is judgment from God. What is our 21st Century society crying out at this time? Jobs, jobs, jobs. Does any of this sound familiar?

Arts and education were removed as well. In our case, this may not be such a bad thing. We have hundreds of channels to watch on TV: movies, music, shows, news, sports. Entertain me! The thing I hear more often than not, “There is nothing worth watching.” Our education system is crumbling and we continue to fall further behind the rest of the world in reading and math skills. Business leaders complain today’s graduates are not prepared intellectually.

Collectively, Jewish society of the past collapsed. Will we learn from history? Current trends are not favorable.

Isaiah 19:14-15 God Reviews

Posted in Isaiah with tags , , , , , , on March 23, 2011 by paulthepoke

The LORD has mixed within her a spirit of distortion; they have led Egypt astray in all that it does, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

As a point of review, it is the LORD who is making all of these events happen. The text tells how this is happening. The idiomatic language in the verse drives home the point. It is God who is pouring and mixing the distortion, perversion, and warping into the Egyptians. The country has no clue what it is doing.

Their actions are consistent with a drunk who staggers in his vomit. The Bible is not boring. It tells of people partying like rock stars 2,700 years ago. There were people back in the day who had tiger blood. I am sure some of them had Adonis DNA. The Egyptians dabbled in the occult (see Exodus with Moses and the plagues). Some of them were “warlocks” if you will. So those who boast of their partying prowess, sorry you are just not that fresh. The Bible reports there have been fools doing this for centuries. God practically and accurately points out this behavior leads to poor decisions and causes one to wander about.

There will be no work for Egypt which its head or tail, its palm branch or bulrush, may do.

More review from God. Unemployment is the reminder, no work. It does not matter who you are, what socioeconomic class one belongs, there will be no work.
