Zephaniah 2:4-5 For Gaza shall be deserted, and Ashkelon shall become a desolation; Ashdod’s people shall be driven out at noon, and Ekron shall be uprooted. Woe to you inhabitants of the seacoast, you nation of the Cherethites! The word of the LORD is against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines; and I will destroy you until no inhabitant is left.

Here is the latest from the Gaza Strip. The hostage exchanges are coming to a close. Well, maybe… The truce and hostage exchange has been extended another two days.

Ezekiel 38:22-23 I will execute judgment upon him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour out torrents of rain, hailstones, fire, and sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. I will magnify and sanctify Myself, and will reveal Myself in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.

The events above are not the fulfillment of Ezekiel 38. The context of those verses are modern day northern Israel in and around the Golan Heights. This is a little taste of what is to come for Magog, modern day Russia, and friends (Turkey, Iran, Libya, Sudan, Ethiopia, others and proxies).

Russia and Turkey are looking to have a natural gas hub in Turkey. Russia’s Gazprom and Turkey’s Botas are working together.

The Republicans have finally elected a new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson of Louisiana. In a strong foreign policy move as far as God is considered, his first act as Speaker was a resolution in support of Israel.

“The first bill I’m going to bring to this floor in a little while will be in support of our dear friend Israel and we are overdue in getting that done.” -Speaker Johnson

On This Week in Prophecy we go around the world and take a look at events that align with the signs of the times according to the prophets, apostles, and Jesus.

We start with Jesus and a coin discovered near Tel Aviv.

Ezekiel 38-39 continues to dominate the headlines. Russia and China look to work together in the name of peace for stability in Afghanistan and the region. Russia, Iran, and China look to a naval exercise possibly later this year in the Persian Gulf, for peaceful purposes of course against piracy. Vladimir Putin looks to build and expand Russian naval capability. The build towards Magog’s attempted invasion of Israel continues.

Federal Reserve Chairman Powell had his big speech this past week from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The result, more money, more money, more money!!! Hello more inflation!!! Mind you the Chairman’s models suggest that inflation is “transitory”. Revelation 6 calls for hyperinflation at the onset of the Tribulation. So we watch.

President Biden took a nap in the Oval Office with Israeli Prime Minister Bennett. The leader of the free world is figuratively and literally asleep at the wheel.

Lastly, is the shofar a vector for the spread of COVID19??? Jewish concerns and questions ahead of the Fall Feasts?

Iranian Oil Ships Targeted

March 2021: News outlets (including the Middle East Eye, Haaretz, and The Times of Israel) around the Middle East are quoting a Wall St. Journal article. The Wall St. Journal has quoted “US and regional officials.”

At least 12 Iranian oil tankers or ships containing Iranian freight have been targeted by Israel. The Iranian ships are typically bound for Syria. This has been occurring since 2019. To date, none of the Iranian vessels have been sunk.

“Officials” suggested Israel is looking to stop the flow of money to fund terrorism. Financial resources “are funding extremism in the Middle East”.

Israel has blamed Iran for an attack on an Israeli cargo ship the MV Helios Ray.

Iran blames Israel for a series of mysterious explosions at nuclear facilities along with the execution of top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

Factions of Israeli representatives also blame Iran for a massive oil spill that washed a shore on the Mediterranean coast.

Israel has blasted Iranian supported Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and Syria.

The altercations have taken place in the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, and the Mediterranean Sea.

Both Iran and Israel refused to comment on the recent history.

United States President Biden is looking to rejoin the nuclear deal between world powers and Iran. And so the plot thickens.

Iran Shoots Down American Drone, June 2019

A United States drone has been intercepted by Iran. The United States says the drone was in international air space of the Straits of Hormuz. Iran says the drone was over the land of Iran.

Activity Heating Up in the Persian Gulf, May 2019

Iran is getting more cozy with Russia when it comes to military ties. With activity increasing in the Persian Gulf, Russia and Iran are planning military exercises. Russia is the primary source of military hardware for Iran. A United Nations (UN) arms embargo is set to expire in 2020. This expiration is likely to result in more military equipment transferring from Russia to Iran. The Iranians have requested SU-30 and SU-35 fighter jets, Yakovlev Yak-130 light fighters, MI-8 and MI-17 helicopters, T-90 tanks, and the Bastion mobile coastal defense missile system.

In mid April 2019, the United States, France, and Britain held Artemis Trident 19 exercise in the Persian Gulf. President Trump recently declared Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

At the center of the discussion is oil. Iran has threatened to close off the Straits of Hormuz. The United States has imposed sanctions on Iranian oil exports. On Sunday, 5/12/19, two oil shipments destined for the United States were noted with “significant damage” near the United Arab Emirates.

On 5/5/19, the White House announced the USS Abraham Lincoln and a bomber task force were being sent to the Middle East due to “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings.”

Isaiah 10:5-7 Assyrian Empire and Modern Day Geography

Isaiah 10:5-7 Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger and the staff in whose hands is My indignation I send it against a godless nation and commission it against the people of My fury to capture booty and to seize plunder, and to trample them down like mud in the streets. Yet it does not so intend, nor does it plan so in its heart, but rather it is its purpose to destroy and to cut off many nations.

Nimrod founded Nineveh as noted in Genesis 8:10-12. Assyria lay along the middle Tigris between the Kurdish Taurus Mountains and Jebel Hamrin and formed an area about the size of the state of Connecticut (modern day northern Iraq; Iraq, Turkey, and Iran mountainous borders). On the west bank of the Tigris lay a single plain, while on the east bank the country was divided into three sections: the area between the mountains and the Great Zab River, the sector between the Great and Lesser Zab rivers, and the region between the Lesser Zab and the mountain Jebel Hamrin (modern day Kirkuk Oil Field in Iraq).

The land is fertile and undulating and has enough rainfall to support dry farming. Assyria had abundant supplies of limestone and alabaster and some marble. This region of real estate was recently in the news with the Civil War taking place in Syria (September 2013). A major oil and gas pipeline runs from the Kirkuk Oil Field north to the border of Iraq, Syria, and Turkey. Once in Turkey, the pipeline runs to the west before stopping in the Mediterranean Sea where oil and gas are exported primarily to Europe. The security of this pipeline is constantly being challenged by multiple groups.

The major cities were Asshur (son of Shem and Hebrew people, Genesis 10:22, modern day between Mosul and Bagdhad, Iraq) on the west bank of the Tigris and Lesser Zab River; and Nineveh (modern day Mosul, Iraq), and Calah to the southeast on the Tigris a few miles from Nineveh.

The height of power of the Assyrian Empire was during the seventh century BC. The Assyrians built an empire that stretched from Egypt on the southwest to Persia (modern day Iran) on the east and from the Persian Gulf on the southeast to Anatolia (modern day Turkey) on the north.

Assyria had specific directions from God. Go get Israel. But that was not enough. Assyria wanted more. Their attitude and plans were the conquest of multiple nations. Assyria’s punishment crossed the line and exceeded the expectation God had set. If Assyria would have followed directions and stuck to Israel, Assyria would have avoided judgment themselves. With their actions, Assyria is as good as dead.
